Double Handle Hop Filter - 10 in. x 4 in.

    3 reviews

Hot side hop additions should stay in the kettle and out of the fermenter. Keep all that hop matter from transferring out with your wort using this Double Handle Hop Filter. This compact unit is a great option if kettle space is a concern and you don't want the basket to interfere with other accessories. Conveniently hangs on the inside of your kettle so you can remove it at any point if needed. The double handle design will keep the basket nice and steady compared to single handle units. This is a great alternative to hop bags which have the potential to decrease hop utilization. While using this filter basket you can add hops directly to your kettle for maximum wort exposure. Brewing all grain beer? This hop filter is also perfect as secondary filter when transferring wort from your mash tun to your boil kettle. If any tiny bits make it past your false bottom, the hop filter will catch them. Made from 304 stainless steel Double handle design 10" H x 4" Ø

  • Rhizome - Columbus (CTZ)

    Columbus (CTZ) Hop Rhizome

    25 reviews

Rhizomes are now in stock and orders are being fulfilled. If you haven't ordered your rhizomes yet, this is your last chance till next season! 15.0-17.0% AA. Grows well in dry, hot climates. Vigorous but susceptible to mildew diseases. Columbus is a high-alpha hop that provides a neutral bitterness and an excellent aroma. The flavor and aroma are very pungent, so it is often used for late-addition hopping or dry-hopping. Great in IPA's. Flavor is slightly floral with some citrus notes. Also goes by the names Tomahawk, Zeus, and CTZ. Rhizomes should be planted immediately for best results. If your area is still experiencing frost then you can plant them in a planter indoors until it is safe to transplant outside. The first years crop will generally be smaller than subsequent years. Since these are live plants, we cannot guarantee they will grow, so we recommend buying two of each type to help ensure their success. Shipping Restrictions: Due to agricultural restrictions, we can only ship rhizomes to addresses that are in the United States, excepting Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and the counties of Bonner and Kootenai in Idaho. Unfortunately, we cannot ship these to international locations including APO/FPO addresses.

  • White Labs Yeast - Abbey Ale Yeast PurePitch Next Gen HB White Labs Yeast - Abbey Ale Yeast PurePitch Next Gen HB

White Labs Yeast | WLP530 Abbey Ale | Beer Yeast | PurePitch® Next Generation | Industry Leading Viability | 150 Billion Cells

    1 review

WLP530 is a traditional Belgian abbey strain perfect for use in dubbels, tripels and Belgian strong ales Produces cherry, plum and pear esters. Medium flocculation for good clarity in the finished beer PurePitch® Next Generation offers a precise cell count across all strains so you can calculate the exact pitch rate you need for every batch Scan the barcode on the back of the package and enter your wort stats into the Pitch Rate Calculator White Labs Yeast has been producing high-quality brewer's yeast since 1995 and continues to raise the bar in the art of fermentation Don't need a full package? Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch! Abbey Ale yeast is still used in two of the six Trappist breweries remaining in the world! This yeast produces the distinctive fruitiness and plum characteristics. Excellent yeast for Belgian Ales, Dubbels and Trippels. Abbey Ale yeast does best when pitched at 66-68°F and let to rise up 1-2 degrees per day and hold it at 72-75°F for 7-14 days. This yeast can dry out a beer no problem. With a gravity beer of 1.080 SG we recommend using 8g of FermFed in conjunction with this yeast during the first 24-48 hours after pitch. PurePitch® Next Generation—now with more yeast, get a foolproof fermentation without a starter! Just twist the cap & pitch! Why PurePitch Next Gen versus other options? Typically yeast manufacturers use a range for how many yeast cells are going into each package. This can vary widely, especially from strain to strain. Next Gen offers a far more precise cell count across all strains allowing you to use the Whitelabs exclusive pitch calculator. Simply scan the barcode on the back of each package to be taken to their online calculator. Enter the volume, strength, and pitching temperature of the wort you are fermenting and the calculator tells you exactly how much yeast to pitch. You will be fermenting like a professional brewer, using the same concentration of yeast every time and enjoying more consistent results. Don't need a full package? Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch. Whitelabs has also increased the viability (the number of living cells in the package) over the shelf life of the yeast. Next Gen strains are grown in their unique, small-batch reactors to assure freshness and then packaged in a special film that allows for off-gassing, assuring that their viability is absolutely industry leading. Attenuation: 75-80% Flocculation: Medium to High Alcohol Tolerance: 8-12% ABV Optimum Fermentation Temp: 66-72°F Cell Count: 150 Billion For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast. Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

American Oak Chips | Heavy Toast

    5 reviews

Due to high demand, 40 lb is currently out of stock. Be the first to receive your items by placing a pre-order today. We will automatically ship this to you when we receive more inventory.   Oak Chips are a fast and economical way to add oak barrel flavor to any beer. Oak Chips are made from seasoned American and French Oak staves which are chipped down and convection-toasted to create flavors similar to what a comparably toasted barrel would impart. The available toast levels are Medium, Medium +, and Heavy. It's important to understand that each toasting level creates different flavors in the oak; not a greater intensity of impact in your beer. Don't think of them as weak, normal & strong; they're each a different flavor profile. Heavy Toast American Oak chips will impart strong flavors of Vanilla & Char, with a small note of Clove. These chips will not impart the coconut flavor often characteristic of lower toast American oaks. Because of the high surface area, oak chips can extract quickly and care should be taken not to overdo it. Taste your beer frequently after the first week of contact and be ready to rack off the oak chips. Suggested Dosage is 1-2 oz per 5 gallons.

  • Erlenmeyer Flask - 1000 ml

    Erlenmeyer Flask - 1000 mL

    9 reviews

The best brewers make large yeast starters to get their beer fermenting fast. Large populations of active yeast help ensure flavorful beer free of off flavors. Our 1000ml Erlenmyer Flask is the ideal vessel to make a large yeast starter for 5 gallon batches. Because it is made from borosilicate glass you can move it from a boil on your gas stove into a cold water bath for cooling, without the risk of cracking. (We do not recommend the use of an electric element. If this cannot be avoided, we recommend using a larger pot as a hot water bath on the stove.) This means you can do the whole process in one container, keeping it simple and helping to reduce the risk of contamination when transferring from one container to another. Recommended Process for Use of Flask: Double Boiler Method It is important for your safety to heat water in the flask with a heat source that distributes heat evenly. Our manufacturer has confirmed that direct heat to the glass can break down its integrity and break if the heat source doesn't distribute evenly. Morebeer! recommends using the "double boiler method." This process involves using a boiling water bath on the outside of the flask to heat up the water inside the flask. All you need is a kettle 3 gallons or larger. This process is much safer and efficient. If the flask should break or boil over, your kettle will be there to collect the contents, thus keeping your stove clean and keeping you away from potential harm. Features 1L (1000mL) Capacity Made from Borosilicate Glass Fantastic price for a flask of this size Produced for MoreBeer! Why make a yeast starter? (from our FAQ) We build starters for 3 main reasons. First, to ensure yeast health. By making a starter 1-3 days in advance, you ensure that your yeast is healthy and strong and ready to do its job. Second, to create more yeast. By making the starter you will increase the cell count of the yeast, giving you a better chance of keeping bacteria's and wild yeasts from fermenting your wort. Third, if you are making high gravity beers. If you are making a high gravity beer (1.060+) you will need more yeast to start the ferment faster. High gravity beers will also finish more completely when you pitch ample quantities of yeast. Fits our stopper 8 (FE45) In the lab world, these flasks are known as "Student Grade". A great flask for making yeast starters!(Student grade is not the highest grade flasks and will have minor defects) Kegland Part Number: KL03971

    CellarScience® Oxblox 3D | Dissolved Oxygen Reducer

    1 review

Easily added to mash water to reduce oxidation in finished beer Scavenges oxygen in mash water Reduces Lipoxygenase (Lox) activity in malt which reduces trans-2-nonenal stale/cardboard flavors in beer Reduces hot side aeration Results in beer with fresher flavor and longer shelf life Oxblox 3D is a specially formulated blend of gallotannins, ascorbic acid, and metabisulphite that is added to your strike water right before mash-in. It dissolves easily and is extremely useful to reduce oxidation during the mashing process. Through multiple actions, it reduces dissolved oxygen levels and helps inhibit the lipoxygenase enzyme found in malt that is infamous for causing downstream wet paper / cardboard flavors attributed by the (E)-2-nonenal compound. Oxblox 3D has minimal impact on pH but may lower pH levels by 0.2-0.4 in both the mash and the finished beer. You may not always notice stale flavor compounds in beer when present, especially at low levels. But when removed, the beer can smell and taste fresher. Beer treated with Oxblox also has an enhanced shelf life, staying fresher for longer. Overall, Oxblox 3D is a low cost, easy-to-use addition to help you brew better tasting beer that lasts longer in keg, can, or bottle. Use: Mix 0.2 to 0.4 g per gal (0.05 to 0.1 g per liter) into your strike water directly before dough-in. We recommend starting with a dosage of 0.3 g per gallon of strike water (0.08 g per liter of strike water) and adjust as desired in future batches.

  • Yeast Starter Kit (1000 ml)

Yeast Starter Kit - 1000 mL

    35 reviews

Yeast starters offer higher cell counts at the time the yeast is pitched, leading to faster, healthier fermentations and better tasting beer!   This kit contains everything you need for making your own yeast starter in package. When you’re ready to make the move from direct pitching your yeast to making a proper starter, this kit is a great way to get going.    The most common size used to make starters using White Labs brand yeast. Same as our Y300 Starter Kit, but with a 1000ml Erlenmeyer flask instead of the 500ml. In the lab world, these flasks are known as "Student Grade," meaning there may be some cosmetic flaws in the glass, and the volume measurements are approximate due to variations in the thickness of the glass walls of the flask. This makes it a great flask for making yeast starters--at a great price!   We do not recommend the use of an electric element with these flasks. If this cannot be avoided, we suggest using a larger pot as a hot water bath on the stove.

Kveik Yeastery | K.14 Eitrheim | Multi-Strain Kveik Yeast | Dry Beer Yeast

    1 review

Produces beers with dominant apricot and peach flavors, complemented by subtle notes of orange and pineapple Multi-Strain Kveik Yeasts are original blends of kveik yeast cultures rather than isolated single-strain yeasts Ferments effectively across a broad spectrum (59-100°F), offering flexibility for various beer styles Achieves complete fermentation in as little as 72 hours at optimal temperatures (88-95°F), speeding up the brewing process Well-suited for a variety of beer styles, including IPA, Pale Ale, NEIPA, Stouts, and Porters Eitrheim multi-strain comes from Reidar Eitrheim in Tokheim. The flavor and aroma primarily derive from apricot and peach, with secondary notes of orange and pineapple. Eitrheim ferments well between 59-100°F and will ferment faster at higher temperatures. At an optimal temperature of 88-95°F, you can expect fermentation to take up to 72 hours. Eitrheim is suitable for IPAs, pale ales, and NEIPAs. The Eitrheim kveik comes from Reidar Eitrheim from Tokheim, Norway. Tokheim is located close to Odda in the heart of the Hardangerfjord and next to the Folgefonna National Park. The yeast has been passed on for generations, and Reidar got it from his grandfather. The yeast is very versatile and can be used in different beer types such as IPA, Pale Ale, NEIPA, Stouts, and Porters. The Multi-Strain Difference Kveik Yeastery's unique multi-strain kveik yeasts capture the true essence of traditional Norwegian farmhouse brewing, delivering a depth of flavor and robust fermentation unmatched by single-strain alternatives. While other suppliers offer isolated kveik strains, Kveik Yeastery is the only source for authentic, dried multi-strain blends, providing brewers with the complex, nuanced profiles that define classic kveik. These diverse blends offer a superior brewing experience, unlocking the full potential of this remarkable yeast. Flavor and Aroma Primary flavors: Apricot and peach Secondary flavors: Orange and pineapple The intensity is medium at high fermentation temperatures, and at lower temperatures, it will be less intense. Fermentation Eitrheim ferments well from 59°F up to 100°F. The higher fermentation temperature, the faster fermentation. At the optimum temperature 88-95°F expect fermentation to finish in 72 hours. When fermentation is done at low temperatures you can expect fermentation time to increase. For high gravity beers, we recommend users to pitch two packs of yeast and add yeast nutrition to ensure a healthy fermentation. Pitching Pitch directly into wort by sprinkling it across the surface, or rehydrate yeast. For fermentation below 64°F, or high gravity, increase pitching rate to 2.25 g/Gal. One 7 g sachet treats 5 to 8 gallons of wort. One 300 g brewery pouch treats 8.5 bbl of wort.   Effective Fermentation Temp: 59-100°F Optimum Fermentation Temp: 88-95°F Flocculation: Medium Alcohol Tolerance: 12% ABV Attenuation: Medium

    Polyclar VT (PVPP)

    9 reviews

A non-soluble clarifier that removes both haze causing polyphenols as well as yeast cells. Mix 2 Tbls (or 5 g) with one cup of sanitized warm water and gently stir into five gallons beer. Let stand for a few days and rack off. Polyclar VT is a coarser grade of PVPP (140 micron particle size), optimized for addition to vessels, where faster settling is required. The larger particle size also facilitates settling of the stabilizer, allowing the majority of the product to be left behind with the lees at racking. A typical contact time of between 3 to 10 days is required, although there are no adverse effects from leaving Polyclar in contact with the wine for longer periods. For wine use .5 to 2.5 grams per gallon depending upon severity of problem and desired affect. A rough approximate of weight is 1 tsp = 1.1 grams. We highly recommend using a scale to weigh the product for an accurate dose. We do not recommend relying on these rough conversions for accurate dosage rates.

Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch! Budejovice Lager is a famous Pilsner lager strain from the Southern Czech Republic. Produces dry, crisp lagers with low diacetyl production. With up to 80% attenuation, this strain will make a dry beer and showcase rounded hop bitterness. Low diacetyl production makes conditioning of this beer an ease. Attenuation: 70-75% Flocculation: Medium Alcohol Tolerance: 5-10% ABV Optimum Fermentation Temp: 50-55°F Cell Count: 150 Billion For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Kveik Yeastery | K.1 Voss | Multi-Strain Kveik Yeast | Dry Beer Yeast

Produces beers with dominant orange, tangerine, and citrus flavors, complemented by subtle notes of tropical fruit and a mild spiciness Multi-Strain Kveik Yeasts are original blends of kveik yeast cultures rather than isolated single-strain yeasts Ferments effectively across a broad spectrum (59-104°F), offering flexibility for various beer styles Achieves complete fermentation in as little as 72 hours at optimal temperatures (88-95°F), speeding up the brewing process Well-suited for a variety of beer styles, including farmhouse ales, IPAs, pale ales, and sours Voss multi-strain comes from Sigmund Gjernes in Voss. The flavor and aroma primarily stem from orange, tangerine, and citrus. Secondary flavors include tropical fruit and mild spiciness. Voss ferments well between 59-104°F and will ferment faster at higher temperatures. At an optimal temperature of 88-95°F, you can expect fermentation to take up to 72 hours. Voss is well-suited for farmhouse ales, IPAs, pale ales, and sours. The Voss kveik comes from Sigmund Gjernes in Voss, Norway. Voss is situated south of the Jostedal glacier. Voss was somewhat isolated from the larger cities, and most people were farming and self-sustained. People shared kveik mainly with each other, and because of the distance to other settlements, the kveik was rarely mixed with other types. The Voss kveik is unique in taste and aroma, much because of the great work done by Sigmund and others to preserve the yeast throughout the years. Flavor and Aroma Primary flavors: Orange, tangerine and citrus Secondary flavors: Tropical fruit and mild spiciness The intensity is medium at high fermentation temperatures, and at lower temperatures, it will be less intense. Fermentation Voss ferments well from 59°F up to 104°F. Effective Fermentation Temp: 59-104°F Optimum Fermentation Temp: 88-95°F Flocculation: High Alcohol Tolerance: 13% ABV Attenuation: High

Brewelements - The Periodic Table of Brewing Ingredients +

There’s a lot to brewing. Although it’s relatively simple to learn, it can take a lifetime to master, and with all the different yeast, malts, hops, and specialty versions of each it can get more than a little complicated. This infographic is to help you understand the ingredients of brewing, brewing elements if you will, along with their unique characteristics and how they work together to make you a better brewer. It is broken into three sections, malt, hops, and yeast. Use it as a quick reference, study guide or print it out as a place mat, wall decoration, coaster, birth certificate, marriage license, the uses are endless, and we mean endless. Use this infographic periodically as a brewing reference

Do you need to refrigerate the ingredients until brew day? +

The yeast is the most important ingredient to refrigerate once you receive your order. Hops should be refrigerated after a couple days if they're left out at room temp. Hops can be frozen and will last for 2-3 years still preserving their freshness. Malt extract should be left at room temperature until brew day up to 1-2 weeks. Liquid Malt Extract can can be refrigerated but will become rock solid which requires a hot water bath to thaw out or 24 hours at room temp to re-liquify. Dried Malt Extract should be stored at room temperature. Any grains in a paper bag should be used within 2-3 days for optimum freshness especially if they are pre-milled. Grain stored in plastic bags will last a couple months un-milled. We suggest double bagging to prevent oxidation.
