Sahti Malt is a specialty blend built for brewing sahti, Finland's traditional farmhouse ale. It's uncommon in modern brewing, but still highly regarded — the late Michael Jackson, the English beer and whiskey writer, called it "the only primitive beer to survive in Western Europe." Sahti has been brewed on Finnish farms and in country houses largely unchanged for centuries, and it's still served today at festivals and summer weddings across Finland. This blend gives you the same malt character used in that tradition, without having to source and proportion each component yourself.

Skip The Hop Boil
Traditional sahti isn't boiled with hops. Fresh juniper twigs line the lauter tun and go into the brewing water instead, giving the beer its signature aroma in place of hop character.

Sahti is fermented with bakers yeast, which produces the clove and banana notes you'd recognize from a German Weizen, along with the beer's naturally cloudy, full body.
