Deep amber color with some added sweetness from the Dark Candi Syrup
Our Gluten Free recipes use Sorghum extract for the base fermentables
Includes Kent Goldings and Northern Brewer hops
Estimated ABV: 5.3%
Estimated IBUs: 23
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
Our Amber Ale kit includes Dark Candi Syrup to add color. We recommend brewing this beer after you've tried using just sorghum and rice extract. Candi Syrup will add sweetness which helps mask the pepper like flavors from sorghum. We encourage you to experiment with our line of Candi Syrup.
Gluten-Free beers are a different world when it comes to finding a suitable replacement for the base extract. Celiacs are alleric to the hordein protein found in the base malts such as 2-Row and Pilsner malt. They are also allergic to the gliadin protein found in wheat which is the biggest offender of the two proteins. As a homebrewer your goal is to find a suitable fermentable that can emulate the maltiness in beer.
Our Gluten Free recipes use Sorghum extract for the base fermentables. Hops aggressively cut through the maltiness from sorghum easily. Hop additions in gluten free beers tend to be 40-50% less than normal.
All our gluten-free kits include dry yeast due to the small traces of the gliadin protein found in liquid yeast. (Although lab research has found the yeast metabolize the gliadin protein after fermentation and significantly reduce the ppm present.)

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Cutting edge surfactants that "push" soils off surfaces, for faster and more efficient cleaning
Excellent for removing sticky hop oils and hop residue from surfaces
Formulated for less clumping
Works best in warm water up to 140°F, while remaining effective at lower temperatures/room temperature
Premium non-caustic cleanser. AmBrew Cleanser uses the latest technology in surface interaction to provide a powerful alternative to caustic soda.
AmBrew Cleanser is an effective and aggressive alternative to traditional (and dangerous) caustic soda. AmBrew Cleanser removes tough soils yet its non-corrosive nature protects soft metals, finishes and most plastics. AmBrew Cleanser incorporates alkaline salts and chelating agents to break down and disperse soils along with organic additives to aid in penetration and disruption of proteinaceous soils. The efficient and powerful formula provided in AmBrew Cleanser then allows soils to be easily rinsed away with minimal residue. AmBrew Cleanser’s components are readily biodegradable and revert to naturally occurring minerals over a short period of time, and because AmBrew Cleanser is essentially non-foaming when used at the recommended use concentration, it may be used on clean-in-place (CIP) systems as well as in the soak tank. AmBrew Cleanser may be used on nearly any surface and is safe for brass, copper, aluminum, and stainless, as well as polycarbonate and vinyl.

Aside from brewing many award-winning beers, Tasty helped grow homebrewing as a hobby, and as a community, here in the Bay Area and well beyond.
Mike's American Amber Ale earned him multiple 1st- and 2nd-place ribbons, including a Gold Medal at the National Homebrew Competition. We were after him for awhile for this recipe and he finally gave his consent, allowing this to be the 11th entry into MoreBeer!'s lineup of Signature Series kits. With over 12 lbs of malt and 4 rounds of hop additions, this is a full-bodied, hop-forward beer. When it comes time to drink this beer, raise one for Tasty!

25 °L - American Honey is a modern take on a traditional European-style Brumalt. To craft American Honey Malt, Briess starts with the highest quality American-grown barley, then tailor their typical steep and germination process to produce highly-modified green malt — rich with the precursors needed to create melanoidin-style malt flavors. A series of proprietary processes are used to finish the malt and create a product rich with simple sugars and Maillard reaction compounds, leading to one of the most uniquely complex malt flavors.
Use 1-5% for subtle honey flavor, 5-10% for complex honey and graham cracker flavors, or 10-20% for prominent, warm bakery flavors of biscuit, toffee and brown sugar.

In 2011, the White House home brewed beer for the first time in, well, perhaps centuries! We were super were excited when a MoreBeer! customer first submitted his freedom of information act request for the White House homebrew recipes. We were a little surprised, and we'll say it - let down - when we saw the actual recipes. One MoreBeer! staffer blurted out "Whoa...this seems like beer that Prince Harry should be brewing." English malt extract, English hops, and even an English yeast strain were used; so the only thing truly American was the honey! It seems that we were not the only beer lovers to pick up on this. So while we really, really love English beers as much as the next homebrewer, we think the Commander In Chief of America and his White House Brewmasters should be using fresh ingredients from well...America.
Since we were tweaking the recipe towards this side of the pond, we decided we could also help educate the White House staff on their yeast selection. Yes dry yeast has gotten better but since its for the White House and all, we think they can spring for liquid yeast...and is there any better choice for this recipe than Wyeast 1056 AMERICAN Ale or White Labs 001 California Ale?? Not really. In fact, just queue up the star spangled banner, turn on the football game, and throw some hot dogs on the grill because we are starting to feel pretty patriotic here.
So while we send this kit along with our friendly suggestions back to the White House, YOU can make the exact same beer at home. That way if you are in a diner somewhere on the campaign trail and the president pulls up you can whip out a bottle of the 'Honey Pale the White House Should Be Making' or the 'Honey Porter the White House Should Be Making' and enlighten the Top Dog, homebrewer style.

Yes dry yeast has gotten better but since it's for the White House and all, we think they can spring for liquid yeast...and is there any better choice for this recipe than Wyeast 1056 AMERICAN Ale or White Labs 001 California Ale??
This American Honey Porter is composed of all American ingredients, including:
Crystal 40L, Black Patent, Chocolate Malt, and Ultralight Malt Extract
Chinook and Cascade Hops
California Wildflower Honey
This is an amazingly drinkable porter recipe which will have you coming back for more! The classic porter character of roast and coffee is beautifully balanced by a pleasant bitterness and a slight nutty taste. This is a beer which will be fantastic fresh, and even better if you can keep your hands off long enough to let it age! The honey character is nearly buried under the porter character, but provides an interesting and refreshing spin on the classic porter!

Oak Chips are a fast and economical way to add oak barrel flavor to any beer.
Oak Chips are made from seasoned American and French Oak staves which are chipped down and convection-toasted to create flavors similar to what a comparably toasted barrel would impart. The available toast levels are Medium, Medium +, and Heavy.
It's important to understand that each toasting level creates different flavors in the oak; not a greater intensity of impact in your beer. Don't think of them as weak, normal & strong; they're each a different flavor profile.
Heavy Toast American Oak chips will impart strong flavors of Vanilla & Char, with a small note of Clove. These chips will not impart the coconut flavor often characteristic of lower toast American oaks.
Because of the high surface area, oak chips can extract quickly and care should be taken not to overdo it. Taste your beer frequently after the first week of contact and be ready to rack off the oak chips.
Suggested Dosage is 1-2 oz per 5 gallons.
Premium, Fire-Toasted Oak Cubes from Stavin Heavy Toast American Oak will impart flavors of char, spice and roasted coffee; with hints of vanilla and butterscotch. These fire-toasted oak cubes are as close as you can come to the full range of flavors you would get from aging your beer in a full sized barrel, unlike convection-toased cubes. The difference is that convection toasted cubes are made by cutting the stave to size, then passing the small cubes through a toasting chamber. Stavin fire-toasts their staves whole, just like they would when making a barrel, and then cuts them down to size. The result is a gradation of toasting from the surface through to the center of the cube, where each different toast level represents a different flavor set that the oak will give your beer. The result is a much more complex and natural profile; by comparison convection toasted cubes taste one dimensional. Oak cubes also release their flavor into your beer more slowly than chips, giving you more control over the final degree of impact in your beer. You should plan on an extended aging period of 1-6 months when using cubes. This longer contact time again promotes flavor complexity by allowing all the flavors of the oak and your beer to marry. Recommended Dosage is 2 oz per 5 gallons for impact equivalent to aging in a brand new oak barrel. Download the PDF

Commercial quality beer bottle caps to keep your brew safe and sound from bottling day until you're ready to enjoy it. You will get a good firm seal that will last through transport, gift giving, and storage with these American flag bottle caps. These bottle caps crimp down onto the beer bottle and make a firm seal. They don’t rust or leak and they contain an Oxygen absorbing agent in the liner, which means you won’t get any unwanted oxidation. A good value for a great product.
26 mm diameter caps fit American bottles. Some imported bottles and some sparkling wine bottles use a 29 mm cap instead. We recommend test fitting prior to filling if you're re-using an imported bottle.
Important to note: It is recommended that you only sanitize as many caps as you'll require at the time of bottling. The oxygen-absorbing agent is activated when the cap gets wet. If wetted caps are saved for later use, they'll still function as a normal cap, but the oxygen absorbing agent may be depleted.

Looking for the perfect Pale Ale to share with friends this summer? Do you like a Pale Ale with a rich malt flavor and a ton of hop character but without an overwhelming bitterness? Then the Pale Ale II should be your next brew.
We took our American Pale recipe and upped the malt, threw a ton of hops in the finish for flavor, but kept the bitterness the same. We think toning down the perceived bitterness is one reason we consistently get great reviews from brewers sharing this with friends.
Keeping it real: Part of the success of this kit is blending a lot of Willamette and Cascade hops in the finish. This isn't a wild, new or crazy idea... this is old school. Cascade and Willamette were the hops that helped put craft brewing on the map in the 1980's. The reason they are still so popular... they make a damn good beer. We like damn good beer. And yes we like to wear our Sperry Topsiders and listen to Van Halen when we drink this (note if you were born in the 80's ignore this comment).
Truly delectable and different yet still keeping it real.

There really is no "Red" style historically, though it has been sort of created in microbreweries around the US. While the Irish Red is about the interesting malt mix this American Red has a more straight forward malt flavor but a very different and interesting hop profile. It features the combination of Perle, Mt. Hood and Cascade hops. Slightly lighter in color than the Irish Red and without quite as much roasty flavor.

Red Ale is technically not a beer style category. Oh, well. It was created (and is continually evolving) in microbreweries throughout the US. Usually very similar to Amber Ale but with additional, darker crystal malts. MoreBeer! takes a different approach. We make it red with 2oz of Roasted Barley. The result is a red-colored beer but without the deeper, caramalized flavors. We add a combination of Cascade and Northern Brewer hops that combine with the malt flavors to make this a unique beer you won't find anywhere else.

Amylase enzyme is used during the mashing process when there are not enough naturally occuring enzymes, typically due to a mash containing a high level of adjuncts. Also used to more rapidly and completely convert starches into sugars. Usage varies, but the typical dosage rate is 1/4 oz per 5 gallons.
The 1.5 oz size comes in a resealable pouch, and can be stored for later use.
Use this analog unit to control the temperature of a refrigerator, freezer, or air conditioner. It enables you to ferment and store beer at correct temperatures when the ambient room temperature is too warm.
Your electrical cooling device plugs into this unit which plugs into the outlet. A remote sensor connected by a small capillary tube monitors temperatures. If the temperature rises above your set point, the cooling device is turned on.
The unit features a 4 degree swing to help extend the life of the cooling unit's compressor. For example, if you had it set at 68 degrees, it would turn on at 68 degrees and go to 64 degrees before turning off. The unit has the potential to regulate temperature from 20 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
The sensor tube can be inserted into a refrigerator or freezer, and still allows the door gasket to seal tight. Temperature Range of 20 to 80F.
This Johnson unit can handle 15 amps or 1725 watts at 115 volts AC.
