  • Fermentis Dry Yeast - Saflager S-23 - PLACEHOLDER

    Fermentis | SafLager™ S-23 Lager | Dry Beer Yeast

    27 reviews

S-23 is highly recommended for making fruity and hoppy lagers Originating from Berlin, Germany, this lager strain can ferment as high as 64°F Fermentis active dry yeast offers reliability, ease-of-use, and consistency to home and professional beverage makers across the world Great to keep on hand, either as a backup, or as a go-to yeast for your lagers. Produces a nice lager taste: clean and crisp. Finally there is dry lager yeast we can recommend. This bottom fermenting yeast is widely used by Western European commercial breweries. This yeast develops the best of its flavors when fermented at low temperatures (54-59°F) yet it can still produce "lager characteristics" at higher temperatures. We recommend that you keep it between 54-59°F to produce the best beer possible. This yeast can be pitched directly, but if you prefer to rehydrate, the instructions are below. Sprinkle the yeast in a minimum of 10 times its weight of sterile water or wort (we suggest 4 oz) at 70°F to 77°F (21 to 25 °C). Do not stir. Leave to rest 15 to 30 minutes. Gently stir for 30 minutes, and pitch the resultant cream into the fermentation vessel. Attenuation: 80-84% Sedimentation Time: Fast Alcohol Tolerance: 9-11% ABV Optimum Fermentation Temp: 54-64°F Like Fermentis Saflager S-23 Lager Yeast? Fermaid K

    26 reviews

Smart brewers know that a yeast starter is the best way to ensure proper cell count and yeast viability prior to pitching. If you want a reliable starter for your batch of beer, you need to feed the yeast. Adding a yeast nutrient to the starter will give the yeast an added boost! Fermaid K is a yeast nutrient that works for starters and main fermentation. Here’s how it works: Fermaid K is a complex formula that provides DAP, free amino acids, yeast hulls, unsaturated fatty acids, sterols; and micronutrients such as magnesium sulfate, thiamin, folic acid, biotin, calcium pantothenate, and other vitamins and minerals. Yeast use Nitrogen for protein synthesis and to maintain cellular growth. Nitrogen from the alpha amino acids contained in Fermaid K is utilized much more efficiently than from the ammonia salts like DAP. The unsaturated fatty acids and sterols available in Fermaid K are important survival factors needed to maintain alcohol resistance. They also help keep volatile acidity levels low. The cell wall fractions, available through the included yeast hulls, absorb medium chain fatty acids that are toxic to the yeast. They also provide nucleation sites to help keep the yeast in suspension. You do not need to add any additional fertilizers or DAP when adding Fermaid K. Use approximately 1 gram per gallon. Rehydrate in distilled water. A rough approximate of weight is 1 tsp = 4.7 grams. We highly recommend using a scale to weigh the product for an accurate dose. CellarScience® ENGLISH Dry Yeast | English Ale | Premium Beer Yeast

    14 reviews

ENGLISH is a rapid fermenting English ale strain that is loved for its clean flavor, neutral aroma and dry finish Recommended for all types of ales from malt-forward Ambers and Porters to high-gravity IPAs and hoppy Pales Designed to be sprinkled directly onto the surface of your wort with no pre-oxygenation before pitching required Ferment between 61-70°F CellarScience offers high-quality yeast that is easy to use, consistent, and available at a tremendous value A rapid fermenting English ale strain that is loved for its clean flavor, neutral aroma and dry finish. This yeast settles quickly and forms a compact sediment. Like all CellarScience yeast, ENGLISH is eligible for direct pitch straight into your wort. CellarScience provides 12g of yeast per sachet, which is up to 9% more than any other brand of dry yeast. Every batch of yeast is PCR tested to ensure quality. ENGLISH has been selling to pro breweries for awhile but was just recently packaged down to sachets for homebrewers. Dosage: One sachet is enough to treat a 5–6 gallon batch. When calculating for larger batches, use at a rate of 2–3 grams per gallon of wort. We recommend rounding up by one full sachet rather than measuring out the yeast exactly. Direct Pitch or Rehydrate: ENGLISH yeast is designed to be sprinkled directly onto the surface of your wort with no oxygenation required in the initial fermentation. Our aerobic growth process makes this possible by creating dry yeast with high viability and high sterol levels. ENGLISH yeast is pre-loaded with essential nutrients to ensure a successful, complete fermentation. While not required, some brewers prefer to rehydrate yeast. To hydrate yeast, first, sanitize the yeast brick and scissors. Use 10 grams of sterilized tap water between 85-95°F (29-35°C) mixed with 0.25 grams of FermStart per gram of yeast. Sprinkle yeast on the water. Allow the slurry to stand undisturbed for 20 minutes, then swirl. Use small amounts of wort to adjust to within 10°F (6°C) of wort temperature before pitching. Ferment between 61-70°F (16-21°C). Optimum Fermentation Temp: 61-70°F Flocculation: Very High Alcohol Tolerance: 12% ABV Attenuation: 75-83% Similar Strains: WLP007, WY1098, S-04 Gluten-free CellarScience Yeast: For years liquid yeast has been sold as the higher quality option but times are changing. Yes, 20 years ago dry yeast was made by bread yeast producers and the quality was not as good as liquid yeast. CellarScience is helping to flip that script with a full lineup of high-quality dry yeasts. Cell count and viability is usually higher than commercial liquid yeast pitches, which vary from pouch to pouch and don't ship well. CellarScience yeast can be pitched directly in most batches of wort, offering significant time savings. Yeast that is quick and easy to use, high quality, and available at a reasonable cost adds up to a tremendous value. Quality yeast that doesn't "break the brink". CellarScience Nutrients: For high gravity ferments consider rehydrating yeast with CellarScience FermStart yeast hydration nutrient. For high gravity or low nutrient wort, feed your fermentation with CellarScience FermFed DAP Free complex yeast nutrient mix.

  • Fermaid O - PLACEHOLDER Fermaid O - PLACEHOLDER

    Fermaid O Yeast Nutrient

    19 reviews

The Fermaid line of products are a range of nutrients that have been adopted from winemaking and put to use supporting beer fermentations as well. Fermaid O is a newer formulation of the long trusted Fermaid K nutrient which replaces the inorganic DAP in Fermaid K with an organic source of nitrogen instead. The organic nitrogen in Fermaid O is better for your yeast, and that results in better beer! Organic Nitrogen is easier for your yeast to digest, resulting in a smoother, more consistent fermentation. Fermaid O fermentations show fewer temperature spikes, which minimizes negative effects that can be caused by heat. Compared to DAP, Fermaid O results in more consistent and complete fermentation, and lower levels of negative sulfur compounds and other off-flavors. Use at a rate of 1.5g / gal of wort. Dissolve in a small amount of wort or water and add to your fermenter at pitching. Like Fermaid O? Then you will love CellarScience™ FermFed DAP Free Yeast Nutrient!

Depending on where you live, it may still be next to impossible to track down! But with this killer clone kit you can make your own Pliny and perhaps you will develop your own cult following where you are worshiped by your beer loving friends. (Hey, it could happen!). Ultralight Malt Extract | LME | Liquid Malt Extract

    50 reviews

Ultralight is perfect for brewing extract beers when you want to have the lightest color possible A reliable base malt extract for brewing any beer style Can be used as 100% of your fermentable sugar in extract brewing Add for color correction, boost gravity, or improve head retention in all grain brewing Ultralight is one the lightest Malt Extract available anywhere and has a great malty, grain flavor. The color is so light because it is made from 100% 2-row base malt. Our manufacturer also uses a minimum amount of heat, and a slower evaporation to reduce the carmelization found in most other extracts. This extract is mashed around 152 degrees which results in beers with great malt flavor yet good fermentability.  We use it in a majority of our Recipe Kits.  It is unbeatable for light colored Pale Ales and amazing in IPA's where it lets the hops become the focus.  If you are making a darker beer you can simply steep darker specialty grains to obtain the flavor and color you are looking for. Packaged in a special metallic, oxygen barrier bag that unlike plastic jugs does not allow any oxidation to occur. Does fresh extract make a difference? Decide for yourself! We recommend customers store their extract in the refrigerator if they do not plan on using it within 8 weeks.

    41 reviews

A clarifier that has received attention on The Brewing Network and is used by several of our commercial brewer friends. While beers cloud for different reasons and there is not one silver bullet to clear all beers, Biofine has proven effective in most situations. It is an easy way to help ensure clarity without having to filter. Biofine strips out all remaining yeast in 24-48 hours! Speeds up the aging and clarify process by 2-3 weeks! You'll find a layer of darker yeast that settles on top of your yeast bed in your fermenter. This layer is thicker than normal and acts as a blanket. This settling process avoids your yeast from being disturbed as you move your carboy. Biofine brings out maltiness and accentuates esters produced by yeast. Biofine Clear is a purified colloidal solution of silicic acid (SiO2) in water that has been specially formulated for the rapid sedimentation of yeast and other haze forming particles in beer. (Vegan friendly - no animal products) Shelf life is 24 months from date of manufacture, unopened. Dosage Rates: 1/4 Tbsp (3.6 ml or 1/10oz) to as much as 2 Tbsp (29.5 ml or 1 fluid oz.) per 5 gallon batch of beer. Store in cool, dry conditions above 41 degrees F and do not allow the product to freeze. Some beer styles don't react with certain dose rates. You may have to add more to have an effect. We recommend starting small and increasing your dosage rates once per day until clarification takes place. Like Biofine Clear Clarifier? Then you will love CellarScience® SilaFine!

Carbonation and Line Cleaning Ball Lock Quick Disconnect (QD) Cap - Red Plastic

    21 reviews

This plastic ball lock cap features soda bottle threads, allowing you to convert a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle into a convenient travel growler. The ball lock is compatible with both gas and beverage disconnects, so you can charge the PET bottle before you leave the house and dispense on the go. Attach 3/16" or 1/4" ID tubing to the barb to serve as your dip tube and you're all set! These caps also work great for quickly and conveniently cleaning your draft lines. Mix up a small batch of line cleaning solution in a soda bottle, attach the ball lock cap, and then connect it to your beverage line. Place a bucket below your tap to catch the cleaning solution and open your faucet. Then simply turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it to push solution through your line and out the faucet. You can also choose to pressurize the bottle first, but squeezing the solution through is just as effective. Fermenting with the FermZilla? This is the same ball lock fitting included with the FermZilla Pressure Kit and it's also compatible with the FermZilla Collection Container. If you use the collection container to add dry hops, attach one of these caps and you'll be able purge the container of oxygen before opening the dump valve to introduce the hops. Attach some tubing and diffusion stone and you can oxygenate your wort through the collection container as well! When using two ball lock caps, we recommend pairing this red plastic cap with a yellow plastic cap so you can easily identify which caps are being used for liquid or gas. The barb is Duotight compatible. If you'd like to use the cap with 8 mm OD EVABarrier tubing, see DUO10. For a stainless steel option see KG50. Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch! Our top-selling yeast! White Labs California Ale yeast is known for its ability to be used in almost any style Ale. It produces a clean, dry, balanced beer. It also accentuates the flavor of the malt and hops in your homebrew. This strain was the first yeast strain produced by White Labs in 1995. When used in hoppy beers, it accentuates hop flavors and aromas and attenuates well, even for high-gravity beers. This strain can be used in almost any style of ale ranging from IPA to porter and even kölsch, making it a great all-around house strain. WLP001 is a genetically different strain than other descendants of this classic yeast and many brewers prefer WLP001 over similar variations from other companies. PurePitch® Next Generation—now with more yeast, get a foolproof fermentation without a starter! Just twist the cap & pitch! Why PurePitch Next Gen versus other options? Typically yeast manufacturers use a range for how many yeast cells are going into each package. This can vary widely, especially from strain to strain. Next Gen offers a far more precise cell count across all strains allowing you to use the Whitelabs exclusive pitch calculator. Simply scan the barcode on the back of each package to be taken to their online calculator. Enter the volume, strength, and pitching temperature of the wort you are fermenting and the calculator tells you exactly how much yeast to pitch. You will be fermenting like a professional brewer, using the same concentration of yeast every time and enjoying more consistent results. Don't need a full package? Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch. Whitelabs has also increased the viability (the number of living cells in the package) over the shelf life of the yeast. Next Gen strains are grown in their unique, small-batch reactors to assure freshness and then packaged in a special film that allows for off-gassing, assuring that their viability is absolutely industry leading. Best-selling yeast Can be used in almost any style of ale (from IPA to kölsch) Beautifully accentuates hop flavors and aromas Attenuation: 73-85% Flocculation: Medium Alcohol Tolerance: 5-10% ABV Optimum Fermentation Temp: 64-73°F Cell Count: 150 Billion For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. To craft American Honey Malt, Briess starts with the highest quality American-grown barley, then tailor their typical steep and germination process to produce highly-modified green malt — rich with the precursors needed to create melanoidin-style malt flavors. A series of proprietary processes are used to finish the malt and create a product rich with simple sugars and Maillard reaction compounds, leading to one of the most uniquely complex malt flavors. • Go-Ferm Protect Evolution - PLACEHOLDER Go-Ferm Protect Evolution - PLACEHOLDER

Lallemand | Go-Ferm Protect | Yeast Rehydration Nutrient

    30 reviews

A new, advanced formulation of Go-Ferm Go-Ferm Protect is a natural yeast nutrient that is added to the yeast hydration water before adding your selected yeast strain. Its complex formula provides your yeast with the proper sterols, unsaturated fatty acids and micronutrients needed to begin fermentation in optimal shape. The great thing about Go-Ferm Protect is that the proper nutrients and vitamins are introduced BEFORE the yeast is added to the must. This way 100% of the nutrients are available to your selected yeast strain and won't be stolen away by any indigenous yeast or bacteria that may be present in the must before your yeast can become established. Go-Ferm Protect was created as a result of a multi-year study of problem fermentations by Lallemand and the National Agricultural Research Institute (INRA) in France. During this period, they looked at the adverse effects on the yeast from overripe fruit (>28 Brix), low nutrient levels, overclarification of the juice and poor fruit quality (Botrytis, rot, high bacteria count, insecticide and fungicide residue). Their research showed that musts deficient in sterols and unsaturated fatty acids made yeast more susceptible to ethanol toxicity (high alcohol), osmotic shock (high sugar), temperature and others stress factors. In response to this data they created the NATSTEP (NATural STErol Protection) process that incorporated sterols, unsaturated fatty acids, as well as vitamins and minerals into an advance yeast hydration nutrient: Go-Ferm Protect. Go-Ferm Protect provides a combination of protective and nutritional benefits that ensure your yeast begins your fermentation in peak form! The best part is that if your fruit is in great shape then Go-Ferm Protect will simply help your yeast out that much more! Go-Ferm Protect does not contain any DAP, as DAP is harmful to the yeast during the rehydration process. GO-Ferm is usually used in conjunction with our Fermaid K yeast nutrient; where Go-Ferm Protect is used at yeast hydration then Fermaid K is added at the first signs of fermentation and again after 1/3 sugar depletion. Use: Use at a rate of 1.25 g Go-Ferm Protect per 1 g of yeast. A rough approximate of weight is 1 tsp = 3.2 grams. We highly recommend using a scale to weigh the product for an accurate dose. We do not recommend relying on these rough conversions for accurate dosage rates. Download the PDF Like Go Ferm Protect? Then you will love CellarScience® FermStart!
