Aerate your wort automatically with this complete aeration system. Includes compact air pump, air filter, diffusion stone, and EVABarrier tubing. This aeration system diffuses oxygen into your wort using the air around you, so there's no need to buy pure oxygen cylinders again and again. The down side is that aeration takes longer than oxygenation. Because the atmosphere is only about 20% oxygen, the diffusion stone must be left running in the wort for approximately 30–120 minutes (but even 5 minutes of aeration is better than shaking the carboy). The sterile filter will prevent contamination during this period, but you will need to monitor the fermenter periodically for possible over foaming. To clean your stainless stone, we recommend boiling it for several minutes and storing it in a zip lock bag between uses. It can clog easily with the oil in your fingers, so use gloves when attaching it to the tubing. NOTE: You will need to use hot water to soften the 4 mm x 8 mm EVABarrier tubing when attaching the stone. Needle nose pliers can help to widen the tubing, if necessary. Hose clamps won't be required once it's attached. You will also need to cut a short piece of tubing to bridge the connection from the air pump to the air filter and the air filter to the diffusion stone. You do not want the air filter to get wet or be inserted into your fermenter, so keep the air filter close to the pump. Standard A/C units available from any hardware or appliance store have lots of power, but they are electronically restricted to not go below 60°F. This is because they would freeze up. Commercial refrigeration for walk-in coolers combat freeze with increased surface area on the fins and fans. Looking to add a thermowell to your Speidel plastic fermenter? This is the perfect way to do it. This thermowell replaces the airlock on top of your fermenter and uses the standard Speidel locking nut and gasket. The rubber grommet will fit standard 3/8 in. airlocks and the thermowell will accept most temperature probes.
The probe is 12" and will fit most 1/4" digital temp probes.
Please note that while using the stock spigot lock ring and gasket for the thermowell, you will have to use the solid locking cap where the spigot is normally located. In order to use the thermowell and spigot silmultaneously, you will need to purchase a second spigot or lock nut.

Bubbling Crude, Black Gold, Texas Tea - you may not strike oil in your backyard, but you can make Imperial Stout at home. Premium, Fire-Toasted Oak Cubes from Stavin
Medium + Toast French Oak will impart flavors of vanilla, cinnamon and chocolate with notes of coffee and campfire.
These fire-toasted oak cubes are as close as you can come to the full range of flavors you would get from aging your beer in a full sized barrel, unlike convection-toased cubes.
The difference is that convection toasted cubes are made by cutting the stave to size, then passing the small cubes through a toasting chamber. Stavin fire-toasts their staves whole, just like they would when making a barrel, and then cuts them down to size. The result is a gradation of toasting from the surface through to the center of the cube, where each different toast level represents a different flavor set that the oak will give your beer. The result is a much more complex and natural profile; by comparison convection toasted cubes taste one dimensional.
Oak cubes also release their flavor into your beer more slowly than chips, giving you more control over the final degree of impact in your beer. You should plan on an extended aging period of 1-6 months when using cubes. This longer contact time again promotes flavor complexity by allowing all the flavors of the oak and your beer to marry.
Recommended Dosage is 2 oz per 5 gallons for impact equivalent to aging in a brand new oak barrel.

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Dosage:
One sachet is enough to treat a 5–6 gallon batch. When calculating for larger batches, use at a rate of 2–3 grams per gallon of wort. We recommend rounding up by one full sachet rather than measuring out the yeast exactly.
