Yeast starters offer higher cell counts at the time the yeast is pitched, leading to faster, healthier fermentations and better tasting beer!
You may be wondering how to make a yeast starter. Well, lucky for you this kit contains everything you need for making your own yeast starter right out of the box, including step-by-step instructions!
This is the most common size used to make yeast starters using liquid yeast, great for higher alcohol beer and cold fermented lagers.
In the lab world, these flasks are known as "Student Grade," meaning there may be some cosmetic flaws in the glass, and the volume measurements are approximate due to variations in the thickness of the glass walls of the flask. This makes it a great flask for making yeast starters--at a great price!
We do not recommend the use of an electric element with these flasks. If this cannot be avoided, we suggest using a larger pot as a hot water bath on the stove.

This kit contains everything you need for making your own yeast starter in package. When you’re ready to make the move from direct pitching your yeast to making a proper starter, this kit is a great way to get going.
The most common size used to make starters using White Labs brand yeast. Same as our Y300 Starter Kit, but with a 1000ml Erlenmeyer flask instead of the 500ml.

500ml Erlenmeyer flask, 1/2lb light dried malt extract & 1oz Fermaid K (Yeast Nutrient). This starter kit is for growing liquid yeast starters. The idea is that the starter acts as a mini batch of beer where the yeast cells replicate before being pitched into your 5 gallon batch. More yeast means fermentation starts faster. The bacteria and wild yeast that got into your beer during the transfer from kettle to fermenter have less chance of creating a negative flavor impact upon your beer.

In the lab world, these flasks are known as "Student Grade". A great flask for making yeast starters!(Student grade is not the highest grade flasks and will have minor defects)
Commercial quality beer bottle caps to keep your brew safe and sound from bottling day until you're ready to enjoy it. You will get a good firm seal that will last through transport, gift giving, and storage with these yellow bottle caps. These bottle caps crimp down onto the beer bottle and make a firm seal. They don’t rust or leak and they contain an Oxygen absorbing agent in the liner, which means you won’t get any unwanted oxidation. A good value for a great product.
26 mm diameter caps fit American bottles. Some imported bottles and some sparkling wine bottles use a 29 mm cap instead. We recommend test fitting prior to filling if you're re-using an imported bottle.
Important to note: It is recommended that you only sanitize as many caps as you'll require at the time of bottling. The oxygen-absorbing agent is activated when the cap gets wet. If wetted caps are saved for later use, they'll still function as a normal cap, but the oxygen absorbing agent may be depleted.
This instrument is used to test beverage or product for CO² gas and air content in either glass or PET containers and cans. It is automatically adjustable to various size bottles and cans and is available in either one or two liter sizes. Two standard pressure/temperature relationship charts are furnished with the instrument for the determination of volumes of CO² gas in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The instrument is equipped with a dual scale pressure gauge (0-60 psi and & 0-4.2 kg/cm2) and an adjustable 2″ dual scale dial thermometer (25.125ºF & -5/55ºC). This piercing device is also equipped with a 100cc burette that measures up to 25cc’s of the product’s air content. The parts list and line drawing should be used for assembly and as a reference for ordering replacement parts.
Headspace “air” is defined as atmospheric air picked up during the brewing process. These instruments do not measure dissolved oxygen.
Two sizes are available. One that can test vessels up to 1L in size, and the other that can test vessels up to 3L in size.
The Zahm Model D.T. Piercing Device is used to test carbonated beverages for volumes of CO² gas in glass/PET bottles and cans. This instrument uses a dual scale pressure gauge (0-60 psi & 0-4.2kg/cm2) and an adjustable 2″ dial thermometer (25/125ºF & -5/55ºC). It is available in one and three liter sizes. The Series 6000 Piercing Device will provide rapid and accurate determination of gas volumes in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages when used with the two pressure/temperature charts furnished with the instrument.
Two sizes are available. One that can test vessels up to 1L in size, and the other that can test vessels up to 3L in size.
The Zahm SS-60 Volume Meter was developed to determine average CO² levels of gas in tank stored beverages. Its improved design over the older Zahm-Hartung Volume Meter (Series 2000) greatly improves accuracy and time required to run a test. A precise piston release mechanism eliminates bleeding off of the sample and the potential for human error. Samples undergo repeatable, precise volumetric expansion test after test for more accurate measurements. The lightweight design reduces operator fatigue while the stainless steel construction increases strength and resists corrosion. The thermometer may also be replaced in the field without the need to return it to the factory for replacement. The parts list and line drawing should be used when ordering replacement parts or operating the instrument.
This instrument is recommended for testing air content where greater speed and accuracy is required. These hops are far out, man! Named after Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Frank Zappa, this neomexicanus breed was first found in the mountains of New Mexico and later developed by CLS Farms. As wild and free as the music Frank composed, Zappa™ hops are tough to nail down with any singular description. Tropical fruit, pine, and citrus first come to mind, but descriptors such as passionfruit, mint, fresh, purple, savory, impulsive, and fruity pebbles have also been used in an attempt to capture the essence of Zappa™. Use for aroma, whirlpool, and dry hopping additions. Highly recommended for fruit-forward styles like hazy or milkshake IPAs, as well as fruited sours, pale ales, and wild or mixed-fermentation beers.

An optional vacuum device for the Zeus Large Format Bottle Corker. This model has an adpater designed to work with Farro brand Champagne Bottles from 750mL to 1.5L. The bottle interface was specifically machined for the Farro Champagne bottles so that the o-ring makes an airtight seal during the corking process.
Creating a vacuum in the bottle prior to corking removes oxygen but also reduces pressure in the headspace which can potentially cause corking issues.
This vacuum adapter requires the connection of an air compressor to create the vacuum.
See here for the vacuum device with adapter for 3L still wine bottles and 5L still wine bottles.
