What is a Foeder? Basically, it is a large barrel or oak vessel used to age wine and, as of late, many breweries have begun to use them as well. Breweries like New Belgium Brewing, Epic Brewing Company, Crooked Stave and Deschutes are using them for sour beer production and beyond. Although most popular for sour beers, you can add a matured oak character to any beer, such as porters, stouts, English ales, lagers and pilsners. Pilsners?! Yes, Pilsners. We have tasted a few excellent pilsners matured in foeders recently. We were so impressed, we decided to bring them in for our amazing customers to play with. Don't delay, get your foeder today!
This model stand vertically, which compared to horizontal foeders, takes up a much smaller footprint in your brewery or winery. The longer, skinnier design also allows for a higher wood surface to beverage ratio. The oak is porous, so it will retain the character and living microbes of previous batches. Many sour beer producers choose to let the oak inoculate the next batch and treat the barrel as a living entity. We hope that you choose to give this vessel a loving home, with kids and a backyard, or maybe just a temperate, moderately humid production facility.
Balazs barrels is a long-trusted brand of Hungarian oak barrels coopered by the famous Balazs Nagy. These barrels are equal or better in quality to French Oak barrels but available at a fraction of the cost of their more famous counterparts. Renowned for respecting fruit, Hungarian barrels offer winemakers a great option to impact the mouthfeel, structure and flavor of wine without stepping on the terroir of your grapes.
Due to the tight grain and slow release of phenolic compounds, you can feel secure storing your wine in Hungarian barrels longer than you can with other barrels. The slow process of micro oxygenation rounds the wine while various compounds in the wood such hemicellulose, lipids, and lignins are slowly integrated.
As most barrel makers know, the best source of wood for wine barrels is the oak grown in the territory of old-time Hungary, known as Slavonian oak. This rare, high-quality oak can be found in the Zemplén Mountains and in the Tokaj oak woods. The specific type of oak in those territories, and what is used in Balazs barrels, is the Quercus Petrea. This oak is characterised by a dense, hard structure combined with extra flavor. Forestry workers look after these forests with considerable expertise, and the forest density ratio in Hungary is 20–24%, with selective logging taking place between November and April.
Balázs Barrels is establishing a direct cooperation with the forestry workers, ensuring the continuous supply of the best quality oak, allowing them to source and work with the most excellent oak for wine barrel manufacturing from the foremost Hungarian forests.

Medium toast level oak chips used during fermentation for 1-2 months
Made from winery quality Slavonian Oak
Use at a starting rate of 1.5-3.5 oz per 5 gallons
Winery quality Slavonian Oak chips with Medium level toast. Recommended for use during fermentation for 1-2 months. As a starting point use 1.5-3.5 oz per 5 gallons. Taste after two months and add more if needed.
Balazs segments are made from Slavonian oak. Slavonian oak is grown in the area of Croatia that borders Hungary. While the area of Slavonia has changed hands many times, being under Hungarian control in the past, what has always remained constant is the quality of the oak grown in the region. Slavonian oak is beloved in Italy where it is widely used in the traditional and classic Italian wines of the Veneto, Tuscany and Piedmont. It is known for having the utmost respect for the fruit which is why Italian producers extensively use this oak. This makes this oak extremely useful for home winemakers who, because of the small quantities being made, need to pay special attention to not over oaking their wine.
Use: Fermentation
Form: Chips - 0.15-1.5"

Adjustable relief valve installs on standard ball lock keg posts Use with any ball lock keg to control flow during closed pressure transfers Integrated pressure gauge can be swapped out with a digital gauge or large face dial gauge for easier, more accurate readings Adjustable black cap can be swapped out for color coded PRVs with a fixed pressure Low-profile design only measures 1.75" in height This easy to use and compact pressure relief valve is super handy for keg transfers. Using a ball lock quick disconnect as the main body, the valve easily snaps onto ball lock keg posts. Adjustable relief valves are a great way to limit oxygen exposure and regulate flow during closed keg transfers, The included gauge reads from 0-30 PSI and can be swapped out with a digital gauge or large face dial gauge for easier, more accurate readings. The black pull ring cap on the other end can be rotated for adjustments, or swapped to a range of color coded PRVs for a fixed pressure. This low-profile option only measures 1.75" in height. It works right out of the box but has several upgrade options as shown in the images. Warning: Never swap out the valve's standard PRV with a color coded PRV that exceeds the pressure rating of your vessel. Features: Duotight fitting where the gauge attaches This allows for upgrading the valve with a digital gauge or larger analog gauge Manual pull ring pressure relief This allows for you to not only adjust the pressure with the black rotary knob but also use the ring pull to instantly release pressure if you want to release manually Option for several color coded PRVs to be used (see below) Yellow - 17 psi Red - 35 psi Green - 65 psi Gray - 100 psi KegLand Part Number: KL29438

A great accessory to have when performing pressure transfers. Designed by the MoreBeer! R&D team and made from stainless steel components for long-lasting quality. Features the Torpedo Keg gas-in disconnect and our specially designed adjustable stainless gas pressure relief valve (D1833L). Looking for a PRV valve with pressure gauge? Check out the FIL42AS. Pressure Transfers Great for pressure transfers from keg to keg during filtering or after fining. During pressure transfers, it's a good idea to have a bit of head pressure in the receiving keg, especially if you're transferring beer that is already carbonated. Having a spunding valve in place will allow you to consistently control the head pressure and give you more consistent results, without losing carbonation in the process. Note: The very end of the pressure relief valve can be adjusted by unscrewing the knurled adjustment knob. If too tight and not adjustable by hand, wrap a towel around the adjustment knob and loosen with pliers. Then finger tighten or loosen to desired pressure.

This cast iron wide-profile banjo burner is strong and efficient, topping our ratings in getting wort to a quick boil, while using the same amount or less of propane. Adjusted for efficiency this banjo burner produces around 70,000 BTU/hr, and in full, this banjo burner mode produces 100,000 btu. Banjo burners can often times have issues when using with low flame output. We sourced and tested a number of different units, before settling on this one, which performs great at low output. Uses 3/8" male flare fitting (included). Comes with steel orifice plate for regulating airflow The burner has a 9 7/8" diameter and is 14 3/4" long This banjo burner requires a propane regulator to function properly. We recommend a Wind Guard with these units if brewing outdoors. If using indoors, you must have proper ventilation in the form of an overhead cooking hood.

A high quality natural cork topped with a black plastic head. Unlike the competition, which typically uses synthetic or agglomerated (particle board) stoppers, we chose high grade whole natural cork that has been traditionally used. Steam treated for the reduction of TCA and other volatile compounds. MP TS is the ideal solution if you want to bottle your distillates using a traditional closure at an affordable rate. 19.2 mm cork diameter. Fits standard cork finish (neck) bottles & 375mL Farro spirit bottles.
Italy produces more wine than any country in the world and Molinas is the largest Italian cork supplier with over 1 billion corks produced annually. Molinas Cork was started over 100 years ago by Pietro Molinas on the Italian island of Sardinia. Besides its beautiful beaches and designation as one of the world's five Blue Zones, Sardinia is known for its large, government protected Cork tree forests.
Today, the 4th generation of the Molinas family sustainably harvests cork from these protected trees. Compared to most cork available in the market, the bark is allowed to mature an additional year. This leads to a less porous, higher quality cork, and has less impact on the forest. Throughout the entire process from tree to finished cork, quality control is strictly monitored. MoreFlavor! is proud to represent Molinas Cork in the USA

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.
