Great piece of hardware. Installed on a 12 gal stainless boil pot.

Water amount and temperature are crucial in sugar extraction from grain. This thermometer works in conjunction with the stainless steel site glass. This enables the brewer to use accurate amount of water to grain at exact mash in temperature. Both extremely important in mashing. Yes I recommend both the thermometer and site glass which are necessary great tools to add consistency in your brewing process.

Installed as described and looks to be made of quality materials. Hoping to brew with it soon.

I installed this thermometer in a Mash Tun. Have to be a bit careful with the install (it's not thick enough to span the inner and outer wall so you have to straddle the inner wall only. I had to put an additional rubber gasket on the OUTSIDE of the wall to prevent a leak. That's not a rub against the product, more about the install.

I bought this for a 10 gal rubbermaid cooler I use as a mash tun. It isn't long enough to fit. Had to go to the local hardware store and figure out a way to extend the bulk head. I figured it out, but it would have been nice if I knew that up front.

Installed this on my mash tun. No leaks, no hassle.

I recently made two keggles for my home brewing rig. I used one of these on my hot liqueur tank as well as my brew kettle. They worked perfectly for both operation and didn't leak! Very satisfied.

I added this to the sight gauge and didn't need the bulk head works great.

I, too, had the same issue with my cooler as bbobo. I thought the fitting should mount through the outer liner, the insulation and the inner liner. I read the comment by John A, and followed his guidance. The fitting mounts to the inside liner, only. Works like a charm. A great addition to my mash tun.

As an addition to my new brewpot- this has been an outstanding item. I thought the price was kind of high until I saw the actual item.It is well made and fits well on the brewpot. The large face makes it easy to read.No more worries about dropping a thermometer in the hot liquid.

As stated on one of the previous reviews, this does work on a Rubbermaid 10gal cooler, but it is a tad more complex of an installation. Simply follow the directions stated in the other comment and it works perfectly.This is a very nice, heavy duty thermometer and works perfectly once installed. Big, easy to read face as well.I am not giving it five stars due to complexity of mounting in a cooler.

I have not installed it yet, but it seems solid, sturdy and well made. It has a larger face than I expected.

A had a few issues getting the step bit to get to the 1 inch step, I am thinking that my bit was shot. After I cleaned up the hole and got this weldless thing of beauty into place it had a small leak. In the directions it says to snug the nut and washer, I found that I had to really tighten the nut down to get it to seal up. I am now leak free and have a huge dial thermometer to read my temps. A very well constructed piece.

I tried using this thermometer in my Mash Tun (converted Home Depot 5 Gallon Water Cooler). Drilled 1' hole on the flat side above spigot hole. Threads are not log enough to allow the inside nut to connect. They may want to change the description to say that it does not work with coolers. The product is nicely constructed otherwise.
