Pilsen Malt - Briess Malting

    Description

1.2° L - Briess Malting - Briess Pilsen is their lightest colored base malt available. It will produce a very light colored, clean and crisp wort with a delicate malty flavor. Excellent choice as a 2-row base malt for all beer styles, particularly lagers. Great for malt focused beers, as it's clean character allows for the full flavor of specialty malts to shine through.

        Great packaging

Awsome packaging. I can order ahead of time and not worry about freshness. It would be nice if the COA could be attached to the bag.

        Makes a Fantastic Lager

The German lager I recently made with this malt is one of the best lagers I have tasted to date. Fantastic in fact! Light and crisp. The only item in the grain bill was 10-LB of this malt and brewing salts. I used 2 packs of S-23 yeast rehydrated in water with 20-g of GoFerm Protect. I fermented 4-days at 54-F and 10 more days at 58-F. I transferred and aged the beer for 4-weeks under kegging pressure. I will make this again!

        Excellent Base Malt

Provides a solid, low-color base for a wide variety of beer styles. Use in place of anything that you would use a European pilsner malt in. Also good in some American styles.

I like this malt! I used to use Weyermann pilsner which is a great malt. This is very good at half the price. Have used it in many repeat recipes, and I can't tell the difference except that it is a little lighter in color.

        Excellent Pilsner Malt

I just sampled my Munich Helles after lagering and could not be more pleased. The beer was made with 8.5 pounds Briess Pilsen a step mash 142 and 154 with a half hour rest each, fermented with Wyeast 2308 and I used German Tradition hops. The beer is balanced and this malt provided a fabulous smooth malt flavor. Very drinkable. I am attempting to clone Spaten and I am very close. I have also used this in my Alt recipes with satifactory results. I will continue to use this malt.

        A nice pilsner malt

I used this in a tripel and it turned out great. The malt flavor was amazing. It was a little sweet but that was an error on my part. I will be using this malt again.

        Do it

Don't mess around with mamby-pamby grain buys. Go for a full sack, crush your own grain, and feel satisfied. Briess pilsner malt is a great canvas for numerous lagers and ales.

        Makes a very light beer

I bought this when I was making several SMaSH beers and this came out by far the lightest in color and flavor. I think it would work well as a base malt with some adjuncts for some more flavor.
