Nylon washers are used to create a seal between metal-to-metal 1/4" flare fitting connections. Most often used with stainless steel ball lock quick disconnects to prevent leaks. These washers are not necessary when connecting female flare fittings to plastic male flare QDs that have a plastic washer built-in. If your home draft system is a mix of ball lock kegs and commercial sanke kegs, having a coupler with ball lock adapters is a huge plus. This allows you to have all your draft lines ending in a ball lock quick disconnect, making it quick and easy to swap lines from sanke keg to ball lock.
