Replacement PET Tank for the 55L Tri-Conical FermZilla with tri-clamp bottom port. Perhaps your wort was too hot when you transferred from the kettle, or while cleaning you dropped the FermZilla against something sharp that punched a hole, or maybe it's just time to replace the tank after acquiring too many scratches from normal wear-and-tear. Whatever the reason, no need to go buy a whole new FermZilla! Just pick up one of these fresh replacement tanks and your conical fermenter will be good as new! Pressure Stress If you use the FermZilla to ferment under pressure, or you use CO2 to pressure transfer or force carbonate your finished beer, it is very important that you conduct semi-annual inspections of your tank. Even with perfect care, the FermZilla tank may show signs of wear from pressure stress over time. We recommend visually inspecting your tank for stress creases or other signs of wear once or twice a year. A hydro test should be conducted every two years, even if no signs of wear are found. The process is simple: Fill the tank to the brim with water Replace the Red PRV with a Green PRV rated to 4.5 BAR or higher Pressurize the tank to 4 BAR (58 psi) Check for leaks, then replace the Red PRV when finished If leaks or potential points of failure are found, replace the tank before you continue using pressure with your FermZilla. General Care Taking good care of your FermZilla begins with cleaning and sanitizing the unit before and after use. The tank is made from food-grade PET, which is beautifully clear, but can be sensitive to long soaks in cleaners and acid-based sanitizers. In general, we do not recommend leaving products like PBW or StarSan soaking in the tank for more than an hour. Extended soaks have the potential to degrade the PET material and shorten the lifespan of the tank. KegLand Part Number: KL28257 NOTE: FermZilla tanks are marked with a manufacturer’s “expiry date”. It also has holes for your stopper & airlock (included with the Bucket Buddy) as well as a Thermowell so you can control the circulation of cooling solution with a Temperature Controller. The lid is also compatible with 35L BrewZillas and DigiBoils. If you're fermenting in the Bucket Buddy with built-in heating element, we recommend plugging the unit into the heating outlet of your temperature controller and leaving the power switch turned on. This will allow the temp controller to provide power to the unit only when heating is needed and it will cut the power as soon as you're back to your set temperature. Using the Bucket Buddy's controller to maintain the heating set temp and using a separate controller to maintain the cooling may result in heating and cooling cycling at the same time. This 40 Liter Hydropress provides a simple, highly effective method of extracting juice from apples, pears, berries or grapes for juice, wine or cider making. It can also be used as a cheese press or for honeycomb. Primarily targeted at the Apple Mead and Cider makers, as this press is hard to beat on a budget. Make the best possible sparkling cider with the Electric Apple Grinder and 40L Hydropress. Bladder presses work by expanding a rubber bladder using household water pressure via a garden hose. See note below. First Pour Foam Reduction Every kegerator owner knows the letdown of pouring your first pint of the day and getting too much foam. Even with perfectly balanced draft lines, first pour foam is sometimes unavoidable simply due to the temperature of the faucet itself. Running beer through the faucet will drop the temperature, and the foaming will subside, but not without a bit of wasted beer from pouring off excess head. New Innovative Shank Design Unlike other shank kits, this kit doesn't use a bulky 5/8" threaded shank. The issue with a standard draft shank is that acts as a heat sink, and due to the fact that most shanks sit inside an insulated wall, this results in a substantial amount of warm beer coming out of the tap before cold beer starts flowing. This results in substantial "first pour foam" effect which wastes beer, can result in sour beer, and ultimately negatively effects the quality of the beverages being served. This new design has the beer line feed all the way directly up to the back of the faucet, greatly reducing the volume of non-refrigerated beer. No Spinning Shanks If you have ever installed a traditional 5/8" long shank, you will know how frustrating it is when you use the faucet and it starts rotating. This new design of shank alternative uses three screws that lock the tap into a fixed position and prevents the taps from rotating. If you loosen the 1/2" stainless tap collet you can still have the flexibility to rotate the faucet to any orientation, but once the collet is tight, interlocking teeth on this shank kit and the NukaTap Mini will hold the tap permanently in the correct orientation. Easy Installation Another advantage compared to standard shanks is that this kit doesn't require you to drill a large 3/4"-1" hole through the wall. As no shank is required, only a hole large enough to accommodate the beer line is required. As a result, an 8mm (5/16") conventional drill bit is all that is necessary for installation. However, if you are concerned about the small amount of beer sitting in the draft line inside the wall not being refrigerated, you can also shell out a larger diameter of foam on the inside of the wall to allow cold air to circulate around the beer line thus reducing the non-refrigerated beer in the line even more. If you wanted to do this the Step Drill Bit is the best tool for the job. Any Wall Thickness Other shank kits will require you to purchase a specific length shank for a specific wall thickness. This new shank alternative will fit any wall thickness. If you have wall thicknesses that are less than 2.7" thick then you can use the included screws that have "snap off" points so you can simply cut the screws down to the desired length. However, if the wall is thicker than 2.7" you can simply purchase a conventional screw from the hardware store and screw the shank kit to your wall. If the substrate is firm enough you may not even need to go all the way through the wall so a common 1-1/4" long screw may be all that is required. This is especially important when fermenting with kveik yeast. These strains are known to ferment hot if no temperature control is being used. Exceeding the temperature rating may compromise the tank, leading to a shorter life span or sudden failure to maintain pressure. Even with proper use, we recommend replacing the tank every two years. Please note: when using the FermZilla under pressure, you must perform a water pressure check to ensure your connections are leak proof. To do this, fill your FermZilla up with water, apply at least 15 psi pressure, and check for leaks around all caps and threads. Pressure Stress If you use the FermZilla to ferment under pressure, or you use CO2 to pressure transfer or force carbonate your finished beer, it is very important that you conduct semi-annual inspections of your tank. Even with perfect care, the FermZilla tank may show signs of wear from pressure stress over time. We recommend visually inspecting your tank for stress creases or other signs of wear once or twice a year. A hydro test should be conducted every two years, even if no signs of wear are found. The process is simple: Fill the tank to the brim with water Replace the Red PRV with a Green PRV rated to 4.5 BAR or higher Pressurize the tank to 4 BAR (58 psi) Check for leaks, then replace the Red PRV when finished If leaks or potential points of failure are found, replace the tank before you continue using pressure with your FermZilla. General Care Taking good care of your FermZilla begins with cleaning and sanitizing the unit before and after use. The tank is made from food-grade PET, which is beautifully clear, but can be sensitive to long soaks in cleaners and acid-based sanitizers. In general, we do not recommend leaving products like PBW or StarSan soaking in the tank for more than an hour. Extended soaks have the potential to degrade the PET material and shorten the lifespan of the tank. KegLand Part number: KL47302 NOTE: FermZilla tanks are marked with a manufacturer’s “expiry date”.
