Our blend of lambic cultures produce beer with a complex, earthy profile and a distinctive pie cherry sourness. Aging up to 18 months is required for a full flavor profile and acidity to develop. Specific proportions of a Belgian style ale strain, a sherry strain, two Brettanomyces strains, a Lactobacillus culture, and a Pediococcus culture produce the desirable flavor components of these beers as they are brewed in West Flanders. Propagation of this culture is not recommended and will result in a change of the proportions of the individual components. This blend will produce a very dry beer due to the super-attenuative nature of the mixed cultures.

Pliny the Elder is a truly amazing beer with a cult like following, and was once one of the hardest IPAs to find, as Russian River brewed it in very limited quantities. Depending on where you live, it may still be next to impossible to track down! But with this killer clone kit you can make your own Pliny and perhaps you will develop your own cult following where you are worshiped by your beer loving friends. (Hey, it could happen!). Light malt color, huge hops, and a dry finish. Be prepared for an outrageous amount of flavor.
This is THE original Pliny the Elder recipe, given to us directly by Vinnie at Russian River Brewing Company. This beer is an intense Double IPA. High bitterness with a dry malt finish, 8% alcohol, 6 separate hot side hop additions, 3 separate dry hop additions, and intense hop flavor and aroma! Pliny sets the standard for Double IPAs!
Who is Pliny the Elder?
This beer is named after Gainus Plinius Secondus, or Pliny the Elder, a Roman author, lawyer, naval man and naturalist who first mentions the botanical name for hops in his writings - lupus salictarius, which translated from Latin means Wolf Among Willows. Sadly, Pliny died while helping people escape the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in August, 79 AD. Pliny the Younger was the nephew of Pliny the Elder and is the name of another outrageous and highly sought-after beer from Russian River.
Russian River Brewing
If you have not tasted beers from Russian River Brewing Company, you should put it way up on your priority list. This is a brewery with huge demand that keeps quality as a first priority. Owner Vinnie Cilurzo is also unique in that he still actively brews and tests recipes and ingredients (on a MoreBeer! Brewsculpture by the way) on a constant basis. Amazing.

Healthy, strong, properly rehydrated yeast cells that are prepared for a perfect fermentation
Automated process saves labor
Repeatability: process can be repeated by the machine without variables from human preparation
Increased viability and cell count reduces the amount of yeast needed.
The German made Yeast Booster Pro from Quantor offers a labor saving, precise, repeatable method for rehydrating dry yeast. Designed to rehydrate up to 2,000 grams of yeast at a time (available Yeast Booster Max handles up to 10,000 grams) with built-in temperature control and automated pumping in of water and juice. The result is consistently healthy yeast, producing optimum flavors, with greatly reduced chances of stuck fermentation.
The Yeast-Booster is run by a processor. All the required parameters can be set in the menu: start temperature, target temperature, time, etc. From the menu change the language and adjust the display lighting contrast. In the start phase the water will be heated to 101.3°F/38.5°C. Upon reaching the target temperature the yeast is added to the mixture. During the first phase of the propagation, the yeast will be gently circulated through a membrane pump, which will break up lumps and add oxygen to the mixture. Fresh must from the target tank will be added to the mixture every 15 minutes to acclimate the yeast. At the end of the up-scaling process, the propagated yeast mixture will be pumped into the target tank. The Yeast-Booster can then start the rinsing and cleaning cycle. The cycle lasts 2-3 hours, allowing time for cells to become active and begin replication.
The Yeast Booster is equipped with robust motorized valves, a strong pump for faster emptying, and a perforated stainless screen at the bottom of the tank breaking-up remaining clumps of dry-yeast to reach a fine, homogenous mixture. The unit is jacketed for connection to water (or glycol) for cooling and also features a built-in electric heater for precise temperature control during rehydration. Tank, screen, control panel, and frame are made from stainless steel.

WLP50 is sourced from a Belgian monastery and is ideal for Belgian quads, tripels and dubbels due to its high alcohol tolerance Produces characteristic notes of plum and cherry with a hint of bubble gum PurePitch® Next Generation offers a precise cell count across all strains so you can calculate the exact pitch rate you need for every batch Scan the barcode on the back of the package and enter your wort stats into the Pitch Rate Calculator
White Labs Yeast has been producing high-quality brewer's yeast since 1995 and continues to raise the bar in the art of fermentation Don't need a full package? Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch! From one of the six Trappist breweries remaining in the world, this yeast produces the distinctive fruitiness and plum characteristics. An excellent yeast for high gravity beers, Belgian ales, dubbels and trippels. If you're trying to clone Chimay this is the yeast you want to go with. Pitch at 66-68°F and let it rise up 1-2 degrees per day and hold it at 72-75°F for 7-14 days. This yeast can dry out a beer no problem. With a starting gravity beer of 1.080 SG we recommend using 8g Fermaid K (AD345) in conjunction with this yeast during the first 24-48 hours after pitch. PurePitch® Next Generation—now with more yeast, get a foolproof fermentation without a starter! Just twist the cap & pitch! Why PurePitch Next Gen versus other options? Typically yeast manufacturers use a range for how many yeast cells are going into each package. This can vary widely, especially from strain to strain. Next Gen offers a far more precise cell count across all strains allowing you to use the Whitelabs exclusive pitch calculator. Simply scan the barcode on the back of each package to be taken to their online calculator. Enter the volume, strength, and pitching temperature of the wort you are fermenting and the calculator tells you exactly how much yeast to pitch. You will be fermenting like a professional brewer, using the same concentration of yeast every time and enjoying more consistent results. Don't need a full package? Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch. Whitelabs has also increased the viability (the number of living cells in the package) over the shelf life of the yeast. Next Gen strains are grown in their unique, small-batch reactors to assure freshness and then packaged in a special film that allows for off-gassing, assuring that their viability is absolutely industry leading. A fructophile for clean, low temperature ferments. W15 was isolated in 1991 from high quality Muller Thurgau must originating in the vineyards at the Viticulture Research Station in Wadenswil, Switzerland. W15 was developed to ferment dry whites at moderate speeds where bright fruit and heavy mouthfeel are desired. This yeast does just that, and it does so while respecting the varietal characteristics of the fruit. W15 can also be used to ferment high quality, fruit focused, light red wines from Pinot Noir and cool-climate Syrah. Short lag pahse, moderate rate fermenter at temperature ranges between 50 to 81 degrees F. Alcohol tolerant to 16%. W15 produces higher levels of glycerol and succinic acid especially at higher fermentation temperatures (above 77 degrees F). Download the PDF Download the PDF

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.
Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.
A blend of Irish Moss and purified Kappa carrageenan that encourages the precipitation of haze causing materials such as proteins and Beta glucans. Prepared in a quick dissolving, highly soluble tablet form. Almost everyone who tries Whirlfloc tablets prefer them to regular Irish Moss. Add for the final 5 minutes of the boil.
Note: One Whirlfloc tablet is good for 10-15 gallons of wort. We suggest using half a tablet for 5 gallon batches for most beers.
LalBrew CBC-1™ was selected for Cask and Bottle Conditioning applications due to its high resistance to alcohol and pressure
Neutral flavor profile and does not metabolize maltotriose, therefore the original character of the beer is preserved after refermentation
Also an ideal strain for primary fermentation of dry ciders, mead and hard-seltzer
Lallemand premium brewing yeast offers brewers unmatched consistency, reliability and purity from one batch of beer to the next
The true solution to under carbonated, bottle conditioned beers! CBC-1 is a great choice for fermenting beers destined for bottle conditioning, especially higher-alcohol styles. A fast starter and robust strain which can be used to ferment/re-ferment beers up to 14% ABV. The flavor is neutral, therefore the original character of the beer is preserved. The yeast will settle and form a tight mat at the end of refermentation. LalBrew® CBC-1 can also be used for primary fermentation of dry ciders or mead. Maltotriose is not metabolized during primary fermentation of beer, so LalBrew® CBC-1 is well suited for sweeter fruit beers or fullbodied, malty ales.
Primary Beer Styles: fruit beers, full-bodied, malty beers, dry cider and mead
Bottle Conditioning: all beer styles
Aroma: Neutral
Fermentation Range: Primary 68°F (Refermentation: 59-77°F)
Alcohol Tolerance: Primary 18% ABV (Refermentation: 12-14% ABV)

White Labs Yeast has been producing high-quality brewer's yeast since 1995 and continues to raise the bar in the art of fermentation Don't need a full package? Put the lid back on and store in the refrigerator for your next batch! This yeast is all about the malt! It is the choice for fermenting Scottish-style ales that are low in fruity esters and really big on malt flavor. Produces a slight smokiness. It's also good in rich, dark ales, like Oatmeal Stout. We have also had some customers make some good Barleywines with this strain. Celebrating the wonderfully tropical hops of New Zealand. A clean-drinking, highly aromatic Hazy IPA
Includes Wai-iti, Wakatu, Waimea, Motueka, and Nelson hops
Estimated ABV: 6.6%
Estimated IBUs: 27
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
If you're in love with Southern Hemisphere hops as much as we are, you're going to fall head over heels for this Hazy IPA. Kiwi Kiss is our ode to the many delicious hop varietals that hail from New Zealand. Hops were first planted on the north and south islands by British settlers in the mid-1800s, but it wasn't until the early 21st-century that NZ-grown hops really exploded in popularity. As beer drinkers began flocking to more tropical, citrus-forward interpretations of IPA, brewers began to recognize the potential for the hops exporting from kiwi country. Today, New Zealand hops are widely sought after for their highly aromatic quality and delicious array of fresh flavors. Kiwi Kiss is a clean, lightly-colored, Hazy IPA with a moderate alcohol level. Wai-iti, Wakatu, and Waimea make multiple appearances throughout the hop bill, with Motueka and Nelson added during the double dry hopping.

The Deluxe Yeast Starter Kit will have you making top shelf yeast starters right out of the box. Yeast starters offer higher cell counts at the time the yeast is pitched, leading to faster, healthier fermentations and better tasting beer! Any beer will benefit from a yeast starter, but they're especially recommended for high gravity beers and cold fermenting lagers.
This kit includes step-by-step instructions for making a 2L starter, as well as some fantastic upgrades that set it apart from our standard Y320 starter kit. Once you've prepared the starter, sanitize and drop in the stir bar, install the foam stopper, and place the flask on the magnetic stir plate. Turn the dial up until a shallow vortex forms.
Magnetic Stir Plate
A stir plate will greatly improve the quality of your yeast starter by providing continuous aeration. Yeast need oxygen to produce sterols and multiply. When all the available oxygen is used up the yeast will stop reproducing. Using a stir plate will ensure that your yeast have all the oxygen they could ever want and they'll be able to reproduce as much as possible.
Foam Stopper
Many yeast starter kits include a rubber stopper and airlock, but we believe a foam stopper is the clear choice. The foam stopper will allow air to flow freely into your flask while keeping pesky bugs and other contaminants out. Simply spray or dunk the stopper in sanitizer before installing it. If you're going to store the starter for a couple days after its finished, remove the foam stopper and cover the flask with sanitized aluminum foil.
Foam Axe
Foam Axe from CellarScience® is a uniquely formulated anti-foaming agent which reduces surface tension so bubbles are Axed before they can form. Foam Axe can be used in the kettle to help prevent boil-overs and works great in your fermenter or starter flask to reduce Krausen—stopping your viable yeast from fermenting out the top of your vessel. Just one drop in your flask is all you need.
Flask Marker
This wax pencil is used for writing on glass surfaces and washes off easily. Great for labeling and writing notes on your yeast starter.
Kit Includes:
2000 mL Erlenmeyer flask (student grade)
Magnetic Stir Plate (stir bar included)
Foam Stopper
1/2 lb Dried Malt Extract
1 oz Fermaid K yeast nutrient
1 oz Foam Axe foam control
Flask Marker wax pencil
In the lab world, these flasks are known as "Student Grade". A great flask for making yeast starters! (Student grade is not the highest grade flasks and will have minor defects)
