White Labs Clarity Ferm - 10 mL

    Description

An easy way to eliminate chill haze in your finished beer is to add one vial of Clarity Ferm to your fermenter prior to the onset of fermentation. Use 1 vial per 5 -7 gallon batch.
For the beer geek (but still simplified!):
Chill haze is caused in your fermenter during aging when polyphenols and polypetides bond together. Clarity ferm cleaves polypetides (a protein fraction) so they cannot bond with polyphenols (tannin). This product is also known as Brewer's Clarex.
There are also discussions and testing being done with this product, finding that it reduces gluten levels in beer. Gluten is the protein that Gluten-Intolerant (Coeliac) folks need to avoid or greatly reduce consumption of. Always consult a Doctor first before use in this application.
    Features:
    • An enzyme that is effective at preventing chill haze
    • Increases shelf-life and product consistency
    • Does not alter beer flavor or aroma
    • Has no effect on head retention
    • Can produce gluten-reduced* beers made with barley (*The majority of beers test below 10ppm gluten when used in the correct dosage)
    Shelf life is 6 months.

Takes care of my gluten allergy.

Seems to work for my newly diagnosed dermatitis herpetiformis. Any beer I make from now on will have this in it. Would like more beer to carry the 1 liter size as is much cheaper. The shelf life is about 1 year( when stored refrigerated ) so the 1 liter size is tremendously cheaper and can be bought directly from white labs.

        What Chill Haze?

Ever since I started using this my beer is crystal clear. NO chill haze! It ONLY gets rid of chill haze, your beer must be clear at room temp.

I have used this stuff for several years. It works great. Beer should be clear!

If you or someone special in your life is gluten sensitive, these are a must have.

It was a dark and stormy night. The keezer was humming, the IPA on tap at home was perfect, but something wasn't quite right. There was a commotion, and some gassy shame. It turns out, the love of my life is gluten sensitive. What was I to do? I'm a home brewer. Beer is life. Did I need to make little tiny batches now and drink alone behind the garage? No, no I didn't! Thanks White Labs! Clarity Ferm has reduced the gassy sadness that I thought was my future. Rock on you gluten reducing legends!

        Almost Perfect

It definitely makes beer drinkable for Gluten intolerant people. I have a friend that has a severe Gluten intolerance and she has been able to drink all 3 batches I’ve made with Clarity Ferm. I would have given it a 5 star rating but it doesn’t clarify a beer like I had hoped. The claim is that you don’t need to use any finish agents with it, but I think that you still should based on the results of my three beers.

        Great stuff and it works

Simple and easy. Just add to the cool wort and the enzyme does the rest. Really works.

        Does the job

I had some mead with a haze. The clarity ferm cleared it up in a week.

        Good product

I have family that are gluten intolerant and I use this regularly to reduce the gluten in my beer. So far no one has had any issues after drinking my beer. Does not change any about the taste. It helps to reduce chill haze but does not clarify a cloudy beer. You will need to fine post fermentation with something else.

        Gluten Free Barley Beer

This product is GREAT. In addition to helping clarify the brew, it virtually eliminates gluten proteins. This means my daughter who has Celiac disorder and other gluten sensitive folks can safely drink my brews. I use it in everything I brew.

Amazing and can help drop out the Gluten for my GF wife.

This product is great and I have been using it for years. My wife who gets sick from Gluten can now drink my beers and not have issues because this stuff drops enough out of the beer. Even another friend who has narcolepsy and has episodes from gluten had the guts to try my beer and she had no issues. The other benefit is that it also clarifies my beer and is super easy to use. Just dump it in the primary fermenter. That's it! I talked about this on the Brewing Network when I stopped in for a show.

Made clearest beer I've ever had

Made my Kolsch darn near crystal clear and without any "green" flavor and ready to drink the day after being fully bottle conditioned/carbonated. First time that's ever happened.

        Wife is happy

Wife has Hashimoto's which causes a gluten allergy but when I use this in my homebrew she can drink them without any ill effects (so far she's had 4 Pliny clones in one sitting and been fine). She's even been able to drink beers that have had 10% wheat in the grist. Check out this experiment - http://beerandwinejournal.com/clarity-ferm-iii/ Big thumbs up to this product.

Works well for gluten reduction, decent at clarifying

I purchased this product mostly for the gluten reducing properties so that friends who have gluten sensitivities can enjoy my beer. For the purpose, it's worth the few dollars it costs. As a finer, it works decently, but does not compare with gelatin, which is quite a bit cheaper to use.

        Excellent results

I started using Clarity Ferm last June after picking some up at NHC Grand Rapids, MI. I've been able to product crystal-clear beers with it. I recently used it in a 30% corn adjunct ale - ended up beautifully clear without racking.

        Quality products, good prices

Clarity Ferm is a product that I've been wanting to try since I first read about it. I am anxious to see how well it eliminates chill haze, and gluten reduction is an added benefit.

        Works

My wife us gluten intolerant. I started putting this in all my beers. She has not had any reactions since. Be careful though. Sensitivity levels are different in everyone. If you, or someone you know can drink omission beers, they should be able to drink your homebrew with this in it.

Can you use clarity firm if you plan to bottle condition your beer ?

        MoreBeer!

        Yes.

        MoreBeer!

You should have no problem bottling beer while using clarity ferm.

        MoreBeer!

Sure just make sure your beer is down to terminal gravity.

        MoreBeer!

Absolutely. I use it routinely and I typically bottle about 1/3 of my batch and keg the other 2/3. It really does help reduce chill haze. (It is not added as a fining agent after primary fermentation is complete; You add the clarity ferm to your cool wort at the start of fermentation.)

        MoreBeer!

Yes. It is pitched along with the yeast. Works great!

        MoreBeer!

Yes it has no effect on the yeast. I use it in every batch. Makes the beer clearer and reduces the gluten to a level that my gluten intolerant friends and family can tolerate and enjoy my beer!

        MoreBeer!

Sure can. I’ve kegged and bottle conditioned after using ClarityFirm with no problem. Clyde

        MoreBeer!

Hello I use Clarity Ferm in all of my beers to lower Gluten as I have a sensitivity to it. I add it with my yeast when pitching and I almost exclusively bottle condition. I have never had any problems with it.

        MoreBeer!

Absolutely. I’ve used it for bottles and kegging and it works great either way. I just pour it in when I pitch my yeast and that’s it!

        MoreBeer!

It's always worked well for me and I bottle everything I make. I've made about 20-5 gallon batches with it at this point and can see a big difference in clarity and my gluten free friends appreciate it as well.
