Fresh Roast SR-800 Coffee Roaster

    Description

Finally, an affordable 1/2 pound coffee roaster! The Fresh Roast SR800 features all of the great system upgrades we saw with the SR540, but with a larger maximum roast capacity of 8 oz of green coffee beans. The roast capacity of wet processed coffee is 8 oz, but for natural processed beans we recommend decreasing the roast capacity to 6 oz. Natural or dry processed beans create more chaff than wet-processed.

The heat, fan, and time can all be adjusted by simply pushing in and turning the knob. The SR800 features a real-time temperature read out, allowing you to quickly check the current temperature with a quick turn of the knob. Instead of a general Low, Medium, and High temperature setting, this unit features 9 levels of heat adjustment. If you want to take your home roasting to the new heights, and get nearly double the roast capacity of the SR540, pick up the Fresh Roast SR800!

    • Maximum batch - 8 oz
    • Minimum batch - 4 oz
    • 9 level heat adjustment
    • Easily control heat, fan, and time settings
    • 120V power

Please note: overall roasting time may vary depending on your household outlet's voltage rating, as well as the overall size, density and moisture content of the beans.

        My New Go-To Roaster

I bought this to roast beans for espresso after years of using other roasters for making coffee. This one is the best. And reasonably priced compared to the fancier models. I'm roasting 5 ounces of green beans 3 times a week. It's very easy to dial in your preference, light, medium or dark. One note, mentioned by others: the SR-800 is top heavy and not designed for clumsy folks. Handle it with care and parts won't end up on the floor.

        Fresh Roast SR800

Love, love it. Perfect. Perfect roast every time. Just pick you settings and it even cools the beans. Wow. I am thrilled. Just be careful with the glass and plastic parts.

The Fresh Roast SR800 opens the door to personalized coffee

I've had the Fresh Roast Plus 8 for years, and it still works. But the SR800 gives me many ways to monitor and vary the roast, producing distinctly different results in my coffee cup. I'm finding that with careful monitoring I can reproduce roasts once I've found a combination of beans, heat, fan speeds and time that generate the flavor I like. It's a lot of fun, and because of the large capacity I can savor a batch for a week before having to process more beans. Running the SR800 on my stove top, right under the hood fan, practically eliminates the smoke problem; so little smoke around the house, entirely bearable without opening windows and doors. I would recommend this roaster to anybody who really loves coffee done to his or her taste.

What a lovely machine this is!

I love this machine. My first roast didn’t go so well but the second has been the best coffee I’ve ever tasted! Never had coffee this fresh! I’m in love. Buy one of these things you can’t go wrong.

        doesn't catch fire!

I melted my last roaster and nearly burned down the house! This one is way safer, roasts more beans at once, is easy to use, and barely smokes at all. Winner all the way around!

This is my second fresh roast. I have used the original constantly and it is a great machine. I bought the 800 for greater capacity and power. These well designed machines are excellent for home roasting!

Can this roaster be used indoors without creating any smoke?

        MoreBeer!

Whoa - hi Wendy your name sounds familiar! As far as this creating smoke it really depends on how long you roast your beans. The darker the roast the more smoke you'll encounter. But my guess is you have a sliding door out to a deck next to your kitchen so you could easily set it up on the deck table without the umbrella and as long as it's a rain-free day you can enjoy roasting outside without smoking up the house. At least that's how I've been doing it so far and it's super easy to get a great roast even if you're a beginner. -Ben :c)

        MoreBeer!

I wouldn't do it. We put it on our sun porch and if we don't open the windows and put a fan on the room fills with smoke.

        MoreBeer!

There isn’t any smoke when you roast but there’s some pretty strong odors that occur. I do not roast indoors unless I do it in a vented place where advanced directly to the outside. I rigged up a small enclosure with a pipe containing a fan leading to the window in the basement it works pretty well Enter an answer to this question.

        MoreBeer!

        No.

        MoreBeer!

It can if you have a good hood vent over your stovetop! i set mine on a cutting board on top of the stove directly under the hood and roast away with zero problems!

        MoreBeer!

The answer is a qualified Yes. If you like Medium Dark to Dark roast beans you will have light smoke to heavier smoke depending. Light roast beans will produce no smoke. Often you can buy or make a vent that is placed in a window for the roast period (about 15 minutes plus or minus). I like the smell of the smoke and it dissipates fairly quickly. In general I love my SR-800. I have two.

        MoreBeer!

It will definitely create smoke my advice would be to use it on your range with the fan on to suck up the smoke. It will definitely still smell roasty but it won’t get as smoky inside.

        MoreBeer!

Yes absolutely. We only do inside because outside the temp is hard to work with. We just put ours right under the kitchen vent fan turn it on and all smoke goes outside.

        MoreBeer!

        No.

        MoreBeer!

It's good to have a window open and a fan running to move the smoke up and away. It's not a dense cloud of smoke but it does have odor.
