Don't fear the Beast, feed the Beast! This heavy duty counterflow wort chiller will gobble up heat from your wort as it passes from kettle to fermenter so you can pitch your yeast as soon as possible. Made from passivated 304 stainless steel, The Beast has a 30 ft. wort line with 1.5" T.C. connections and a 29.5 ft. coolant line with 1/2" male BSPT connections. Tri-clamp connections offer the most sanitary way to pass wort through your heat exchanger and pairs perfectly with BrewBuilt's line of T.C. Kettles and X1 Uni Conical Fermenters. The BSP coolant connections work well with Camlock, Duotight, NPT or other BSP fittings found below. Adding a ball valve to the coolant line inlet is a great way to dial in flow for maximum cooling efficiency!

When it comes to counterflow chillers, we love the coil design for its ease-of-use. Plate chillers are great for their high efficiency and compact size, but if there's too much hop matter running through them, they can quickly clog up. Transferring wort from your kettle to your fermenter is one of the critical steps in the brewing process where you don't want any hiccups. The Beast's wort line is 1/2" ID so it can withstand high amounts of hop additions without clogging!

A cross bar is welded on one side of the coil with pre-drilled mounting holes allowing it to be easily installed under your work bench or mounted directly to your brewing system.

    Specs:

    • Beer Line: 30 ft. long
    • Beer Connection: 1.5" tri-clamp
    • Coolant Line: 29.5 ft. long
    • Coolant Connection: 1/2" BSPT
    • Crossbar with pre-drilled mounting holes (4mm)
    • Made from 304 stainless steel

        Counter flow

This unit is much better than my copper Counterflow Wort Chiller WC90 and was easy to install.

Happy with the product, terrified by the shipping

Thankful this brute arrived intact. Literally just sitting alone in a large box without any packaging, I'm shocked the arms didn't arrive bent and the welds arrived intact - kudos to UPS! The product itself meets expectations, but holy moses am I shocked the thing actually worked given the shipping.

Required a replacement but 2nd unit works well

Fortunately I tested the Counterflow chiller prior to brew day because it leaked at one of the welded connections from the inner coil (would be wort). I received a replacement quickly though and tested it with no issues. The second unit is working well.

        Good product, terrible packaging

I'm surprised this survived shipping. It looked like Ace Ventura delivered it. Package consisted of the product dropped loose fitting into a cardboard box without any packaging materials. It does not sit flat due to the TC fittings I'm sure some folks will received damaged products as I had one fitting that punched through the side of the box presumably in transit. -1 star for huge potential for shipping issues and lack of sufficient packaging. The chiller on the other hand was well named, this thing is a beast. Welds look perfect and you can tell it was assembled with care. Went with a SS CFC chiller due to the hard water supply at my home hoping it will hold up better than copper over the years. I have yet to brew with it.

Hi. Is this unit built in the US ?

How high is the pressure drop on the wort side? Can you recirculate wort thru this chiller and still get a good whirlpool using the Blichmann Riptide pump?

        MoreBeer!

I have that pump and this chiller. I can't comment on pressure drop but whirlpool is not a problem. I bought a chiller that had 1/4" ID and returned it as the flow was way too restricted. Bought this one and it woks great.

        MoreBeer!

I have a riptide pump and recirculate through this just fine. Nice compact trub cone at the bottom of the kettle.

        MoreBeer!

Anecdotal: noticeable drop on my system YMMV on yours. I continue to use it begrudgingly. I could have a several beer length discussion over this purchase. WerksOnMyMosheen-ish

What are the dimensions of the chiller?

        MoreBeer!

Coil: 11" tall 11" OD 9.25" ID w/ TCs: 12" tall (w/ unit sitting flat on table and bottom TC hanging off i.e. lower than table top) 16.5" back to TC.

Is a pump required for this?

        MoreBeer!

I wouldn't try using any CFC without a pump. If you do not want to use a pump you should look at immersion chillers.

        MoreBeer!

It’s highly recommended that you use a pump with this chiller.
