For many years Sabro™ brand HBC 438 has been unofficially referred to as Ron Mexico due to its native US neomexicanus hop heritage, and was once one of the more difficult hops to get your hands on. It developed such a huge cult following in the brewing community that you can trace the recent boom in available neomexicanus hop varieties back to HBC 438. Sabro is notable for its complexity of fruity and citrus flavors. It imparts distinct tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit aromas, with hints of cedar, mint, and cream. Sabro’s pedigree is the result of a unique cross pollination of a female neomexicanus hop. With a robust brewing performance, Sabro proves to be a strongly expressive hop that translates its flavor incredibly well into beer. Vinnie of Russian River Brewing once used this hop in an experimental beer brewed for the National Homebrewers Conference, which was an absolute hit. We recently toured Russian River's new Windsor brewery with Vinnie, and he still raves about this hop and will happily talk about the origin of the Ron Mexico alias with a Cheshire grin on his face. We think you'll absolutely love this hop for brewing juicy, tropical pale ales and IPAs!       Sabro™  is a  trademark owned by Hop Breeding Company, LLC

    Lotus™ | Pellet Hops

    3 reviews

Lotus™ is the latest experimental hop variety developed under the Hopsteiner breeding program to now be available to homebrewers. This tenacious hop outperformed thousands of brothers and sisters born of the initial cross breeding and survived a decade long journey to become the hottest addition to Hopsteiner's unique portfolio of exciting new hop varieties. Lotus™ displays exceptional aromatic characteristics, boasting waves of orange and vanilla followed by notes of candied grape and tropical fruit aromas. Lotus’s genetic origin stems from Eastern Gold, a Japanese hop variety dating back to the 1930s, followed by a mix of Apollo, Cascade, and a USDA male. The USDA male was bred from an open pollinated seedling of a wild American hop developed at Wye College, England. The cross from the USDA male with Neomexicanus heritage adds an additional layer of complexity and uniqueness to this variety. Zappa™ | Pellet Hops

    1 review

These hops are far out, man! Named after Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Frank Zappa, this neomexicanus breed was first found in the mountains of New Mexico and later developed by CLS Farms. As wild and free as the music Frank composed, Zappa™ hops are tough to nail down with any singular description. Tropical fruit, pine, and citrus first come to mind, but descriptors such as passionfruit, mint, fresh, purple, savory, impulsive, and fruity pebbles have also been used in an attempt to capture the essence of Zappa™. Use for aroma, whirlpool, and dry hopping additions. Highly recommended for fruit-forward styles like hazy or milkshake IPAs, as well as fruited sours, pale ales, and wild or mixed-fermentation beers.   Hop Statistics Alpha Acids: 6-8% Beta Acids: 8-9% Alpha-Beta Ratio: 0.6 - 1.0 Cohumulone: (% of alpha acids): 40-45% Total Oils in mls per 100 grams dried: 1.8 - 2.5%     Zappa™ is a  trademark owned by  The Trustees of the Zappa Family Trust Administrative Trust Zappa

  • Pellet Hops - US HBC 472 - PLACEHOLDER

    HBC 472 Hops (Pellets)

    1 review

HBC 472 hops were bred and developed through the Hop Breeding Company (HBC) in the Yakima Valley, Washington and is the result of the open pollination of a wild American hop known as the subspecies neomexicanus. The uniqueness of the flavor characteristics HBC 472 gives to beer has generated a great deal of interest in this cultivar among brewers. This special hop is truly one of a kind with considerable potential. The aroma of the HBC472 hop cones consists of floral, woody, earthy, and coconut. In beer, this hop delivers a surprising fruity note along with its distinctive "472 coconut-woody character". When hopped aggressively in IPA style beers, citrus and grapefruit aromas rule, but a fascinating whiskey/bourbon and coconut character breaks into the background, especially evident in darker, malt-forward beers. The robust character of this hop lends well to full flavor beer styles such as pale ales, IPAs, porters, stouts, and barrel-aged beers.   Hop Statistics Alpha Acids: 9.0 – 11.0% Beta Acids: 7.0 – 9.0% Alpha-Beta Ratio: 1.00 - 1.57 Cohumulone: (% of alpha acids): 44% Total Oils in mls per 100 grams dried: 1.5 – 2.5
