Setting Up Your Glycol Chiller

Quick Setup Checklist

  • The Glycol Ratio: We recommend a 30% glycol to 70% water mixture. For an 8-gallon reservoir, that's roughly 6 gallons of water to 2.5 gallons of glycol. Running your bath colder than 32°F? Bump the ratio up — several longtime customers run closer to 33-35% to stop the coils from icing over during hard cold crashes.
  • Silencing the Error Code: The unit will beep if the temperature plugs aren't inserted. Hold the bottom arrow down until the alarm turns off.
  • Setting the Bath Temp: Hold the "S" button until you see "F1," then use the arrows to set your reservoir to about -2.2°C (roughly 27°F). Press the power button to lock it in.
  • Use Quick Disconnects: Always attach quick disconnects to your tubing so the glycol in your fermenter's jacket doesn't spill onto the floor when you unhook it.
