A Home Brewer Put the FermZilla Allrounder Through Real Florida Heat.
Steve's been brewing lagers in Central Florida ambient humidity — no easy feat. Here's why he ditched cold-crash-only fermentation for pressure fermenting at ale temps, and what he'd tell you before you buy one.
"All in all, I think this is an amazing product."
— Steve, Central Florida, Home Brewer
A Hex Tool, Built Into the Handle.
Steve's honest hiccup: getting the lid off under pressure takes a little technique — bleed pressure through a post, or work a butter knife around the seal. The Easy-Grip lid ring solves this at the source, with a hex socket built directly into the carry handle for steady, even leverage breaking the seal, no separate tools required.
The Honest Take.
What worked
- Pressure fermenting let him brew lager-style beers at ale temperatures — a game changer in hot, humid ambient conditions.
- The new sturdy plastic hex base (replacing the old wire stand) keeps the vessel stable and steady.
- Wide lid opening made hand-cleaning simple with standard soap, water, and sanitizer.
- Rated to 35 PSI on the label — well above the 10–12 PSI he actually ferments at, so there's real headroom.
- He drilled a thermowell port into the lid himself with a step drill, no issue, to run a temp probe alongside a Tilt.
Good to know before you dry hop
- Getting the lid off under pressure takes a little technique — bleed pressure through a post first, or use a butter knife to gently break the seal.
- He's picking up a hop bong (sold separately) to add dry hops without breaking the seal or introducing oxygen.
- Standard pressure-fermenting safety applies: never pry a lid before pressure is fully released.
Everything to Ferment, Carbonate, and Transfer.
The floating dip tube kit and weighted filter ride inside the vessel from day one, so you can pressure ferment, carbonate in place, and do a closed transfer straight to a keg — without opening the lid until you're ready to clean.
