High-quality distilling malt made from Glycosidic Nitrile (GN)-free, North American 2-Row barley
Excellent neutral base for a variety of spirits, including bourbon and American Single Malt Whiskey
Use as up to 100% of your grain bill
Rahr GN Zero Distillers Malt is a high-quality distilling malt made from Glycosidic Nitrile (GN)-free, North American 2-Row barley. Its specifications and flavor profile make it an excellent neutral base for a variety of spirits, including bourbon and American Single Malt Whiskey. This malt contributes earthy and grainy notes, complemented by subtle hints of bread crumb and sprouts.
Understanding Glycosidic Nitrile (GN)
Glycosidic nitriles are organic compounds naturally present in significant amounts in certain barley varieties after malting. During the distilling process, GN can form ethyl carbamate (EC), a known carcinogen. Many countries have regulations on EC levels in spirits, and the United States may implement stricter limits in the future. Choosing Rahr GN Zero Distillers Malt helps distillers create products that are ahead of potential regulatory changes, ensuring a "future-proof" choice for aging spirits.

VIN13 is the go-to choice for winemakers seeking to produce fresh, aromatic white wines and vibrant rosés with expressive fruit character
Whether crafting a tropical Sauvignon Blanc, a crisp Pinot Grigio, or a sparkling wine with clean fruit expression, VIN13 delivers unmatched clarity and aromatic intensity
Elevate aromatic whites and Rosés with intense tropical expression
VIN13 is a robust hybrid yeast strain developed by the Institute for Wine Biotechnology at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Renowned for its ability to enhance volatile thiol and ester production, VIN13 is ideal for crafting aromatic white and rosé wines with vibrant tropical and citrus profiles. Its strong fermentation kinetics and low nutrient requirements make it suitable for challenging winemaking conditions and musts lacking aromatic complexity.
Aromatic Enhancement: Releases high levels of volatile thiols (passion fruit, guava, gooseberry, grapefruit) and esters (pineapple, banana, floral) for intense fruit-forward wines.
Fermentation Performance: Fast fermenter with low volatile acidity (<0.3 g/L) and minimal SO₂ production, ensuring clean, crisp wines.
Alcohol Tolerance: Effective up to 17% ABV, allowing complete fermentation in high-sugar musts.
Temperature Range: Optimal performance between 54°F (12°C) and 61°F (16°C); cold fermentation is advised to preserve aromatics.
Low Nutrient Requirement: Performs well in musts with limited nitrogen availability.
Killer Factor: Positive, providing competitive advantage over wild yeast strains.
Applications:
Aromatic White Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Albariño.
Rosé Wines: Enhances berry and citrus notes, contributing to a fresh, lively profile.
Sparkling Wines: Suitable for Charmat and Traditional Method sparkling wines, ensuring clean, crisp aromatics.
Fruit Wines and Ciders: Ideal for apple, pear, and tropical fruit wines, delivering expressive aromatics.
Flavor Profile:
Tropical Fruits: Prominent expressions of passion fruit, guava, pineapple, and banana.
Citrus & Floral Notes: Highlights of grapefruit, lemon zest, and floral undertones.
Bright Acidity: Maintains crisp, clean acidity for a refreshing finish.
Pure Fruit Expression: Low volatile acidity keeps the fruit character vivid and fresh.
Usage:
Rehydration: Rehydrate in 10 times its weight of chlorine-free water at 95°F (35°C) for 15–20 minutes. Stir gently to prevent clumping.
Pitch Rate: Use 1–1.5 grams per gallon (0.25–0.4 grams per liter) for optimal fermentation and flavor development.
Nutrient Addition: Supplement with yeast nutrient to enhance fermentation strength, particularly in low-nitrogen musts.
Fermentation Temperature: Maintain between 54°F and 61°F to optimize ester production and aromatic clarity.
Cold Fermentation: Ideal for cool fermentation to preserve fresh aromatics and bright acidity.

We recently had a simple, yet exciting idea: What if we brewed the same recipe, used the same yeast, but changed one thing - the flavor, aroma, and dry hop additions using one hop varietal. That way we could take two beers that are close to identical and pick out the differences in just the hop flavors and aromas! And thus, the Single Hop Experiment was born. This recipe is based off of a simple Pale Ale: 2-Row, Crystal 15L, Magnum bittering hops, and then a single other hop for the rest of the additions. The malt in this recipe is basic and fairly neutral, the bittering clean and consistent, but the flavor and aroma from the late hop additions will vary; sometimes dramatically! Ever wanted to know what your favorite hop really is? Brew a few of these different Single Hop Experiment recipes to find out!

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

Pick up this Flow Control Ball Lock Disconnect and stop banging your head against the wall trying to balance your draft line. We're all after the same thing -- the perfect pour -- but balancing beer lines can be a daunting task. You do the research and crunch the numbers, choose the right inner diameter line, cut it to the ideal length, only to spend your evenings dialing your regulator setting back and forth like a turtle-necked safecracker. This stainless steel flow control disconnect will eliminate the guess work and fast track you to perfectly pouring beer.
Flow control faucets are a popular option but they're inherently flawed due to the point of restriction being at the very end of the beer line. The flow control apparatus inside the faucet causes turbulence, which leads to foaming and carbonation coming out of solution prematurely. Flow control disconnects on the other hand restrict the flow before the beer enters the beer line so the head pressure created by the beer line keeps the carbonation in solution.
Another advantage of FC disconnects is that you don't have to rely on a small inner diameter or long line length to apply flow resistance. In fact, even in the fully open position the disconnect will provide some inherent flow resistance, so you should use a shorter line than the 5-6 ft. length that is typically recommended. This makes the flow control disconnect ideal for dispensing beer on the go where you might have a picnic tap with a short line or a disconnect faucet adapter with no line at all!
Please note: make sure your keg post o-rings are in good condition before using this fitting. If they are overly worn and you are not getting a good seal, replace the post o-ring then re-attach the ball lock fitting.
Kegland Part Number: KL09041
Thick wall vinyl (PVC) tubing for gas and beer lines in keg systems. 3/16 in inside diameter (ID) tubing is sometimes used for beer dispensing lines, where the smaller diameter provides more restriction and can reduce foaming.
This shank's small design makes it perfect for attaching a faucet to a tower. Included on the Intertap towers that we stock but can be used to replace the short shank on any 3" diameter tower. Made from stainless steel.
Please note these shanks are not compatible with Perlick brand faucets.
