Chinook hops are a very distinctive dual-purpose hop used in Ales for both bittering and flavor/aroma. Chinook hops are commonly used in West Coast style IPAs. Distinct, medium intensity spice and pine characteristics with subtle notes of grapefruit. Some consider the bittering quality of this hop to be a bit rough because it has a lingering quality. On the other hand, some brewers can't get enough! The flavor/aroma is spicy and unique, with a huge following of loyal fans.

Rhizomes should be planted immediately for best results. If your area is still experiencing frost then you can plant them in a planter indoors until it is safe to transplant outside. The first years crop will generally be smaller than subsequent years. Since these are live plants, we cannot guarantee they will grow, so we recommend buying two of each type to help ensure their success.
Shipping Restrictions:
Due to agricultural restrictions, we can only ship rhizomes to addresses that are in the United States, excepting Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and the counties of Bonner and Kootenai in Idaho. Unfortunately, we cannot ship these to international locations including APO/FPO addresses.

Cryo Hop® Hop Pellets
Higher AA and nearly twice the resin content of traditional T-90 hop pellets
Increase yield by reducing vegetal matter in your brewhouse and fermenter
Cryo Hops® provide brewers with the ability to get gigantic hop character while reducing astringent and unpleasant vegetal flavors. With a substantially higher oil and resin content, LupuLN2 powder offers up all the flavor and aroma of a heavily hopped beer, but with a significanly reduced grassy character. Additionally, the lower dosage rate of the concentrated powder reduces the volume of trub and therefore, kettle loss. Using Cryo Hops® you will net more beer that is clearer!
Typical usage of Cryo Hops® would be roughly 50% of pellets. LupuLN2 powder can be used in any application where traditional hop products are utilized, including: Bittering, Kettle, Whirlpool and even direct to the fermentor. It is suggested that you use Cryo Hops® as late additions, in the whirlpool or dry hop, as the volatile aromatic compounds will be driven off if added early in the boil.
Cryo Hops® are an innovative hop product that is made by separating the lupulin from the hop flower using cryogenic processing. The result is a product with twice the potency of T90 pellets, with reduced astringency and vegetative material.
Note: These hops come pelletized. The powder is compressed into pellet form to make handling easier.

Centennial hops are a balanced bittering and aromatic hop with a decidedly American nature and uniquely pungent flavor. An intense citrus aroma with pronounced lemon notes also gives off some floral qualities that blend well with West Coast IPAs, American Pale Ales, and other hop-forward styles. Centennial hops are sometimes referenced as a super charged Cascade without the grapefruit flavors. Centennial hops also blend well with Chinook and Columbus hops.

One of the quintessential English hops, Fuggle is prized for its earthy, floral, and understated fruit characteristics. Primarily used as an aroma hop, it will give your beer a "British" flavor that is distinct from the popular Northwestern varieties like Cascade, Centennial, Columbus or Chinook. Fuggle is generally associated with delicate and pleasant mint, grass, and floral tones. Fuggle is a fine choice when making any English Ales, including Bitter, ESB, Pale Ale, Stout, Strong Ale, Cask Ale, and many more.

Columbus, or CTZ (Columbus, Tomahawk, and Zeus), is a high alpha varietal with a neutral bitterness and intense aroma. A true dual-purpose hop that works very well for bittering, but shines just as easily as a late addition. CTZ hops have an earthy, spicy character that is great for bittering. But when used as an aroma addition, you'll find more floral and citrus notes come out that can be very pungent. Columbus is a perfect choice for IPAs, Pales, Imperial Ales, Hazys, Stouts, and Lagers.

Chinook
Robust and versatile, the 2021 crop of this varietal was aromatically complex. Chinook captures the spicy pine, resinous wood, floral grapefruit, and tropical notes that make it perfect for everything from IPAs to barley wine and stouts.
Optimized Hop Extracts
When you extract the oil from hops, no matter how good your extraction is, you’ll always wind up with certain undesirable plant compounds. Abstrax Omni Hop Profiles are true-to-type optimized hop extracts without any of the undesirable notes typically found in other dry-hop aroma oils.
The Power of Terpenes
Abstrax Omni Hop Profiles are created by using individual terpene isolates. Think of them like little building blocks. We assemble them together to create an exact profile of the original hop with ZERO undesirable compounds. The result is an extremely potent and accurate profile of the original hop utilizing the power of terpenes.
Extremely Concentrated
A little really goes a long way here. Omni Hop Profiles are made from the essential building blocks of flavor and aroma so they’re naturally potent.
Dosage
Use at a rate of 2.5 mL per 5-gallon batch. Add at any point on the cold side in your fermenter, keg, or bottling bucket. Or even add a drop or two to spike your finished beer in the glass.

Consistent results every time. Eliminates the variance of using hops that may differ by age, crop year, storage conditions, growing region, processing method or farm

Chinook Quantum Brite
Chinook is a powerhouse of a hop. With distinctive notes of Christmas pine, fresh rose petals, and hints of pineapple, this versatile extract is uniquely aromatic and creates a satisfying flavor.
Optimized Hop Extracts
Compared to other hop-extracts, the Quantum Series tastes better, performs better, and is easier to use. It works with everything from Pils to Porters with no special handling required. Easily flowable at cool, ambient, and warm temperatures. Gone are the days of warming up your extract or scrubbing the sticky gunk out of your equipment.
Compared to hops and pellets, the Quantum Series offers a 100% utilization rate and can be used at any stage of the brewing process. It cuts down on shipping and storage costs by an order of magnitude, not to mention the labor savings from not having to lug boxes around.
Quantum Tastes Better
The Quantum Series is an evolutionary leap forward in aroma and brewing technology. When you get down to it, nobody wants to use an extract product that makes their beer taste worse off. Extracts have taken a bad rap because they can often add more problems than they solve and, frankly, they don’t always taste the greatest. Abstrax gets it. That’s why, above all else, flavor and aroma come first with Quantum.
Dosage
Consider 1mL of Quantum Brite the flavor/aroma equivalent of 1 oz of T-90 pellet hops. Add after fermentation is complete, ideally at the coldest and latest point in your process, in your fermenter, keg, or bottling bucket. Or even add a drop or two to spike your finished beer in the glass.
Features:
100% efficient flavor/aroma transfer
Consistent from batch to batch
No yield loss from absorption
Quantum will not affect IBU test results and cannot cause lightstruck off-flavors
Zero Undesirable Plant Compounds
No Lipids
No Chlorophyll
Recommended storage: 40-90°F. Do not freeze.
Our Single Hop Experiment series is the perfect way to learn the characteristics of individual hop varietals

We recently had a simple, yet exciting idea: What if we brewed the same recipe, used the same yeast, but changed one thing - the flavor, aroma, and dry hop additions using one hop varietal. That way we could take two beers that are close to identical and pick out the differences in just the hop flavors and aromas! And thus, the Single Hop Experiment was born. This recipe is based off of a simple Pale Ale: Ultralight malt extract, Crystal 15L, Magnum bittering hops, and then a single other hop for the rest of the additions. The malt in this recipe is basic and fairly neutral, the bittering clean and consistent, but the flavor and aroma from the late hop additions will vary; sometimes dramatically! Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

There are certain beers that you can't help but associate with a specific time of year, and there might be no better example than Sierra Nevada's Celebration IPA. As the year begins to wind down and we enter the holiday season, our eyes instinctively start scanning the shelves for those striking red labels. Once you've enjoyed that first pint of Sierra's signature seasonal release, it's hard to resist leaning into the holiday spirit. Sierra brews this recipe every year with their most recent haul of fresh, hand-selected hops, making each release slightly unique to past iterations. Even though our clone kit doesn't contain fresh hops, we strived to make a recipe that celebrates the character of Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops with heaps of citrus, piney, and floral notes.
Our Holiday Hops kit is a classic West Coast IPA with a distinct, but balanced malt character, deep reddish color and plenty of hop bitterness to match the bite of winter weather. Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops are employed up and down the brew schedule, from the top of the 90-minute boil to the final dry hop addition days before packaging. We highly recommend using a Chico yeast strain for fermentation—it's a Sierra Nevada ale recipe after all!

Hop Gatherer is a Hop Hunter clone, which contains all of the same ingredients as the original beer, but gives you the option of what distilled oil you would like to use. We offer the kit with either Chinook or El Dorado farm distilled hop oil. Either way, this makes a tasty, easy drinking and highly aromatic IPA!
A bit about farm distilled hop oil: Distilled immediatley after picking, farm distilled hop oil gives you the bursting aroma provided by fresh hops. By distilling the oil at the farm, the distinct character of a "wet hop" beer is able to be replicated year round. The oil can be added post fermentation, typically at bottling. You can even add the oil directly to your glass! Be careful, it is VERY POTENT!
Light in color and incredibly smooth, this IPA is enjoyed by all. Not too bitter, but absolutely hoppy enough to please the biggest hop head!

This BrewMaster Series kit was scaled down to a homebrew batch size in collaboration with the brewmasters at Firestone Walker Brewing Company Light in body and color, but strong in hop flavor and aroma Includes Fuggles, Chinook, Cascade, and Centennial hops Estimated ABV: 4.5% Estimated IBUs: 13 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer Fact: Firestone Walker has been named "Mid-Size Brewery of the Year" four times. Another fact: Pale 31 has won 10 Gold Medals since 2003 (yeah, that's one a year!). The Pale 31 California Pale Ale is what some refer to as "The Perfect American Pale Ale". Light in body and color, but strong in hop flavor and aroma, this is one of those beers that most beer lovers will always want on tap. After having one, you'll most likely want another, and being under 5% ABV makes this a little more possible! The recipe consists of American 2-Row, Munich malt, and Carapils for added mouthfeel. The hops are a perfect blend of Fuggles, Chinook, Cascade and Centennial. Firestone Walker's head brewer Matt Brynildson had worked on his Pale Ale recipe for a long time before being perfectly satisfied. We know that once you taste this beer, you'll agree with us that his hard work has definitely paid off! Don't forget to purchase The Brewing Network's "The Perfect American Pale Ale" DVD too! Matt Brynildson discusses water modification, recipe formulation, and techniques on how to brew Pale 31! To read more, See related product. Flashing Lights is a delicious IPA that is bittered with Chinook and heavily dosed with Citra®, Mosaic® and Cascade. Beautifully aromatic and very easy drinking, this is a definite crowd pleaser! Flashing Lights is one of the many innovative rotating beers brewed by Cloudburst Brewing.
Cloudburst Brewing in Seattle Washington is one of our favorite craft breweries. We met Steve Luke (owner and head brewer) up at the Yakima Fresh Hop Ale Festival and were thoroughly impressed with his beer. After tasting every beer at the festival, there was no question that the Cloudburst Wet Hop IPA was best in show.
Steve, being an ex-homebrewer, was happy to help MoreBeer! with one of his famous IPAs. If you are not familiar with the amazing Cloudburst IPAs he makes, you might be familiar with another IPA of his, Elysian Space Dust. Cloudburst brews up a constantly rotating selection of flavorful and unique brews. Stop by the tasting room the next time you are in Seattle; until then, you'll just have to brew up some Flashing Lights!

Contrary to its name, Ugly Fish IPA is actually one of the most beautiful beers we have to offer! Designed as a clone of the highly sought-after Ballast Point Sculpin® IPA, the Ugly Fish IPA is a hop masterpiece. This beer starts with a very clean bitterness from Warrior® hops, and finishes with a beautiful blend of Cascade, Simcoe®, and Chinook late additions. With almost 10 ounces of hops, the Ugly Fish IPA is definitely a hop forward beer, but does have a solid malt profile that stands up to those hops and helps to keep it reasonably balanced.

Big, bold, and full of flavor. The Pompous Ass Ale is a rendition of one of the most egotistical beers in America, and is not for the light-beer lover. In fact, if you prefer a beer that looks and tastes more like water, we recommend you leave this page immediately. Your feelings might get hurt just reading about it...
Our Arrogant Bastard clone easily has one of the most complex malt profiles of any of our kits. The clean bitterness from Magnum hops allows the rich flavors of Aromatic, Special B, and Caramel Munich malts to control your taste buds. The aromatics of Chinook hops blend perfectly with these malts, creating an intense combination of confusion and satisfaction at the same time. After your first sip, if you're thinking "Whoa. That was interesting, intense, & delicious!" you know you brewed it right!

In 2011, the White House home brewed beer for the first time in, well, perhaps centuries! We were super were excited when a MoreBeer! customer first submitted his freedom of information act request for the White House homebrew recipes. We were a little surprised, and we'll say it - let down - when we saw the actual recipes. One MoreBeer! staffer blurted out "Whoa...this seems like beer that Prince Harry should be brewing." English malt extract, English hops, and even an English yeast strain were used; so the only thing truly American was the honey! It seems that we were not the only beer lovers to pick up on this. So while we really, really love English beers as much as the next homebrewer, we think the White House Brewmasters should be using fresh ingredients from well...America.
Since we were tweaking the recipe towards this side of the pond, we decided we could also help educate the White House staff on their yeast selection. Yes dry yeast has gotten better but since it's for the White House and all, we think they can spring for liquid yeast...and is there any better choice for this recipe than Wyeast 1056 AMERICAN Ale or White Labs 001 California Ale?? Not really. In fact, just queue up the star spangled banner, turn on the football game, and throw some hot dogs on the grill because we are starting to feel pretty patriotic here.
So while we send this kit along with our friendly suggestions back to the White House, YOU can make the exact same beer at home. That way if you are in a diner somewhere on the campaign trail and the president pulls up you can whip out a bottle of the 'Honey Pale the White House Should Be Making' or the 'Honey Porter the White House Should Be Making' and enlighten the Top Dog, homebrewer style.
This American Honey Porter is composed of all American ingredients, including:
Crystal 40L, Black Patent, Chocolate Malt, and Domestic 2-Row
Chinook and Cascade Hops
California Wildflower Honey
This is an amazingly drinkable porter recipe which will have you coming back for more! The classic porter character of roast and coffee is beautifully balanced by a pleasant bitterness and a slight nutty taste. This is a beer which will be fantastic fresh, and even better if you can keep your hands off long enough to let it age! The honey character is nearly buried under the porter character, but provides an interesting and refreshing spin on the classic porter!
