Chinook hops are a very distinctive dual-purpose hop used in Ales for both bittering and flavor/aroma. Chinook hops are commonly used in West Coast style IPAs. Distinct, medium intensity spice and pine characteristics with subtle notes of grapefruit. Some consider the bittering quality of this hop to be a bit rough because it has a lingering quality. Galena is a classic American hop that was been used in many quintessential craft beers. Galena features great bittering with neutral character. Medium, pleasant hoppiness. Strong, somewhat floral, pleasant aroma. We use this hop quite a bit in an assortment of styles.
MoreBeer! & Galena - a little fun history
Galena was the original bittering hop we used in most of our kits thought the 90's. We later switched to using Magnum but many of our original customers still really like this hop. Regan Dillon, MoreBeer!'s second customer and later partner, was a big champion of this variety through the 1980's and 1990's. Regan still loves this hop so if you happen to run into Regan at our Concord store or at a festival you can become instant friends by saying "Man, I don't know why Galena isn't used more!"

During that time, he created and perfected recipes for a number of different brews, this easy-drinking Cream Ale being one of them. Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Growing in popularity, this dual purpose hop has very high oil and alpha acid content. Great, neutral bittering and a unique blend of "wild American" and citrus aromas.
Rhizomes should be planted immediately for best results. If your area is still experiencing frost then you can plant them in a planter indoors until it is safe to transplant outside. The first years crop will generally be smaller than subsequent years. Since these are live plants, we cannot guarantee they will grow, so we recommend buying two of each type to help ensure their success.

For many years Sabro™ brand HBC 438 has been unofficially referred to as Ron Mexico due to its native US neomexicanus hop heritage, and was once one of the more difficult hops to get your hands on. It developed such a huge cult following in the brewing community that you can trace the recent boom in available neomexicanus hop varieties back to HBC 438. Sabro is notable for its complexity of fruity and citrus flavors. It imparts distinct tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit aromas, with hints of cedar, mint, and cream. Sabro’s pedigree is the result of a unique cross pollination of a female neomexicanus hop. With a robust brewing performance, Sabro proves to be a strongly expressive hop that translates its flavor incredibly well into beer.

The Artisan Hops® Hop Shot is an easy way to boost IBUs without adding vegetal matter to your beer. This CO2 hop extract is made from 100% Columbus hops, which will impart a slight earthy, citrus character to your beer. 1 mL boiled in 5 gallons of 1.050 wort for 60 minutes will add approximately 10 IBUs.
