Feeling a little rebellious? Like a pale ale that has gone astray? While the Renegade Rye doesn't break all the rules, it certainly deserts the path of an average pale ale! The backbone of this brew contains over 15% rye malt, which adds slight fruity and spicy characteristics to the malt flavors. The clean bitterness from Magnum hops allows these malt flavors to mix perfectly with the aromas of Columbus, Citra®, and Centennial hops.
So go ahead, brew the Renegade Rye, and rebel against standard pale ales!

The original Double IPA! Vinnie Cilurzo began homebrewing in 1989 while in college. In 1994 Vinnie started the Blind Pig Brewing Company in Temecula, CA, a small, low-budget micro-brewery known for their extremely hoppy IPA—an IPA which won silver medals at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. Vinnie sold his share in Blind Pig and was hired to manage and brew at the Russian River Brewing Company, a start-up brewery by Korbel Champagne in Guerneville, CA. In late 2002 Korbel decided to get out of the beer business and sold the Russian River name and brand to Vinnie who moved the brewery to Santa Rosa, CA, 90 miles North of San Francisco, where he and his wife Natalie opened a brew-pub which serves delicious bites and, of course, all of the Russian River Ales. Vinnie has won 10 awards at the Great American Beer Festival in just six years and was named Small Brewing Company Brewmaster of the Year in 1999. Russian River's smashing success continues to this day, expanding and opening a second brewery in Windsor, CA. Almost every beer that Vinnie makes commercially started out as a homebrew recipe at one point or another. Even as a professional brewer, Vinnie still homebrews at least 5 or 6 times a year.
This is the original homebrew recipe that was the basis for Blind Pig IPA which won Silver Medals at the World Cup of Beer and the Great American Beer Festival in 1996, the last year Vinnie brewed it. Two dry hop additions along with 1 oz of American Oak are added directly to the fermenter after the first week of fermentation. To say it is a very unique, extremely flavorful IPA is an understatement. Vinnie recommends using White Labs California yeast, WLP001.

Pliny the Elder is a truly amazing beer with a cult like following, and was once one of the hardest IPAs to find, as Russian River brewed it in very limited quantities. Depending on where you live, it may still be next to impossible to track down! But with this killer clone kit you can make your own Pliny and perhaps you will develop your own cult following where you are worshiped by your beer loving friends. (Hey, it could happen!). Light malt color, huge hops, and a dry finish. Be prepared for an outrageous amount of flavor.
This is THE original Pliny the Elder recipe, given to us directly by Vinnie at Russian River Brewing Company. This beer is an intense Double IPA. High bitterness with a dry malt finish, 8% alcohol, 6 separate hot side hop additions, 3 separate dry hop additions, and intense hop flavor and aroma! Pliny sets the standard for Double IPAs!
Who is Pliny the Elder?
This beer is named after Gainus Plinius Secondus, or Pliny the Elder, a Roman author, lawyer, naval man and naturalist who first mentions the botanical name for hops in his writings - lupus salictarius, which translated from Latin means Wolf Among Willows. Sadly, Pliny died while helping people escape the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in August, 79 AD. Pliny the Younger was the nephew of Pliny the Elder and is the name of another outrageous and highly sought-after beer from Russian River.
Russian River Brewing
If you have not tasted beers from Russian River Brewing Company, you should put it way up on your priority list. This is a brewery with huge demand that keeps quality as a first priority. Owner Vinnie Cilurzo is also unique in that he still actively brews and tests recipes and ingredients (on a MoreBeer! Brewsculpture by the way) on a constant basis. Amazing.

Rodger Davis former brewer of Drakes Brewing Co., San Leandro, California.
Another brewer that got his start at home - Rodger has been a homebrewer since 1991, and a commercial brewer since 1996. After taking the Eight - week course at Sieble, Rodger was brewing at a few places in the Bay Area until he settled down at Drakes in 2002. Since then he has been keeping the awards and praises rolling into Drakes with their flagship IPA, which took Gold in 2002 at the Great American Beer Festival. Drakes Brewing has been around since 1989, and is one of the San Francisco Bay Area's oldest breweries. Their attention to detail and their commitment to making great beer is evident in each batch that rolls out of the brewery. Definitely another 'must' for any beer fan visiting the Bay Area. Until then, find out more about Drake's at www.drinkdrakes.com.
One of the best examples of a West Coast IPA that you can find on the market. It has a clean, crisp malt character backed by tons of hops - 6 additions in all! Somehow, the hops aren't too over the top and don't squash the malt as one might think from just looking at the recipe. This IPA is one that we have been asked to clone over the years, and we are excited to offer it straight from the brewers log book. Not over the top like some IPA's can be, Drakes is one beer to search for. Rodger recommends using White Labs California Yeast, WLP001.

This German-style Wheat Beer has a lovely blond color and distinct hazy appearance in the glass. The flavor for German Hefeweizen is primarily based on the flavor of the very specialized Hefeweizen yeast, so be sure to select one of these strains for fermentation. Just be ready for a vigorous fermentation! This beer is known to pop off airlocks if there isn't enough room in the fermenter. This is a true German-style Hefeweizen recipe using 60% White Wheat malt and 40% 2-Row malt. A dash of Northern Brewer hops provides just enough bitterness to balance the malt and yeast character. Despite the simple recipe, this is one of our most popular ingredient kits. Our German Hefeweizen is a customer favorite that has brought home many ribbons.

Our Oatmeal Stout is loaded to the brim with malt! A helping of Flaked Oats give this brew a smooth, almost slick, mouthfeel, while three different dark malts—Chocolate, Black Patent, and Roasted Barlery—combine for a very complex roast flavor. A lower bittering rate from a moddest hop addition allows the flavor emphasis to rest squarely on the synergy of maltiness, dark roasted malts, and oat flavor. Oatmeal Stout is one of our most consistently well-reviewed kits and comes highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a dark, roasty beer.

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

If you're looking for a new session IPA to obsess over, look no further! Haze Craze is our take on the hazy New England IPA recipe. Also known as a North Eastern IPA, or Juicy IPA, it quickly became one of the most popular beer styles in the US. It packs all of the hop character that craft beer nerds love, and it's much softer and less bitter than classic West Coast IPAs, making it a much more approachable style for the uninitiated. The style accentuates hop character while maintaining a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Light in color but hazy due to heavy dry hopping, yeast selection, as well as additions of oat and wheat. Low in bitterness with a huge hop character due to hop-bursting, this beer will satiate even the biggest hop head.
NEIPA has become popular nationwide thanks to breweries like Tree House Brewing, The Alchemist, Hill Farmstead and Grimm Artisanal Ales. One taste of this delicious style will make a staple in your brew schedule.

Contributes a strong, spicy rye flavor without adding too much body or mouthfeel
Adds complexity to your malt flavor profile—often used in Pale Ales, IPAs, and Imperial IPA
Use as up to 10% of your grain bill to spice things up, 40% for a Rye IPA, or 60% for a Roggenbier
Rye flakes are unlike typical flaked ingredients in that they are added purely for their spicy flavor and do little to add body and mouthfeel. 5-10% is all you need to add a distinct rye flavor to your malt profile, and you can increase from there depending on your desired taste or the style you're brewing. A staple ingredient in German Roggenbier, Finish Sahti, and American Rye-P-As.

Phil Sutton, owner and head brewer at Skyscraper Brewing Company, was in our local homebrew club, D.O.Z.E. After taking the American Brewers Guild program, he realized brewing was what he wanted to do, and left NorCal to head down south and open up Skyscraper. Phil says, "I started out, like everyone, as a homebrewer. Living in Salt Lake City in 1999, I got sick of paying $13 for a six pack of Sam Adams, and some homebrewer friends got me started with my first batch, a hybrid Bohemian Pilsner that was fantastic! When I got sick of my job writing software, I attended the American Brewers Guild program, worked for BJ's for a year, and then struck out on my own." Most of you have probably already seen the brewery in a certain cellular phone ad, where two guys are trying to sell beer - the guy on the forklift was Phil himself! His Bulldozer Hefe is Phil's flagship beer, and he was kind enough to let us in on the recipe. Next time you are in Southern California, be sure to put Skyscraper on your list of must-visits! You'll be hard-pressed to find a beer that tastes as fresh as this! Modeled after one of Deschutes Brewery's most popular offerings, Fresh Pressed IPA is packed with juicy, tropical aromas and citrusy flavor. Munich and Crystal specialty grains provide a malt sweetness and a trace of caramel that perfectly counter-balances the hop bitterness. Fear not, no fruit was harmed in in the development of this clone. Just hops… those got squashed into oblivion.

Rodger Davis former brewer of Drakes Brewing Co., San Leandro, California.
Another brewer that got his start at home - Rodger has been a homebrewer since 1991, and a commercial brewer since 1996. After taking the Eight - week course at Siebel, Rodger was brewing at a few places in the Bay Area until he settled down at Drakes in 2002.

A relaxing vacation is only a pint glass away when you have this Tropical IPA on hand. After the SMaSH-ing success of our Mai Tai PA clone kit, Flamingos & Fronds, we decided to keep the island vibes going with a similar recipe featuring a new hop. Pineapples & Palms is centered around the incredibly fruity BRU-1™ hops, a varietal that is absolutely bursting with the sweet, fruity aroma of pineapple. Used for bittering, aroma, and dry hopping, BRU-1™ is an ideal choice for single hop beers. With no specialty malts in the mix, your taste buds will cut right to the headliner hop. In addition to the unmistakable pineapple character, you'll pick up notes of pear, apple, and a hint of fresh cut grass. You've earned a break from life's unrelenting hustle and bustle, if only for as long as there's beer left in your glass.

A great IPA recipe that features the high oil content Columbus hop in the finish. Lots and lots of aroma combined with very evident hop flavor. The Columbus hop flavor and aroma help work to soften the apparent bitterness. The malt and grain remains the same as the American IPA recipe.

West Coast Pilsner combines the crisp, refreshing crushability of a Pilsner with the hoppy wallop of a West Coast IPA

Estimated ABV: 5.4%
Estimated IBUs: 30

The lines between clean, crushable lagers and hop-forward IPAs continue to blur at breweries and taprooms across the country. Whether it’s a hoppy lager or a Cold IPA that’s flying out of the tap handle, one thing is certain: craft beer drinkers love the combination of a crisp, refreshing lager with the heaps of new world hop character that you’d expect from a modern IPA. Pacific Coast Pilsner is our take on one of the styles within this ever-rising sub category of beers—the West Coast Pilsner. The malt bill consists of nearly 100% pilsner malt for a super-clean base and bright straw color in the glass. And now for the West Coast spin. Rather than a dash of noble hops, this recipe includes a healthy addition of Pacific Northwest and Southern Hemisphere hops in the boil, whirlpool, and dry hopping. The end result is a true “best of both worlds” beer. Light and easy-drinking, not too bitter, and teeming with citrusy, tropical hop character.

High bitterness and intense hop flavor with a dry malt finish

Estimated ABV: 8%

Amazing.

This German-style Wheat Beer recipe allows Hefeweizen yeast to shine at the forefront of the flavor profile. One of most popular kits ever!
Includes a single addition of Northern Brewer hops
Estimated ABV: 4.5%
Estimated IBUs: 13
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
This German-style Wheat Beer has a lovely blond color and distinct hazy appearance in the glass. The flavor for German Hefeweizen is primarily based on the flavor of the very specialized Hefeweizen yeast, so be sure to select one of these strains for fermentation. Just be ready for a vigorous fermentation! This beer is known to pop off airlocks if there isn't enough room in the fermenter. This kit does not contain any steeping grain, using 100% Bavarian Wheat malt extract. A dash of Northern Brewer hops provides just enough bitterness to balance the malt and yeast character. Despite the simple recipe, this is one of our most popular ingredient kits. Our German Hefeweizen is a customer favorite that has brought home many ribbons.
If you want to put a little spin on this recipe, add 8 oz of Caramunich and 4 oz of Chocolate malt to make a Dunkelweizen!

German malts and English hops collide. BKG Bomb is a far cry from today's modern, citrus-forward IPAs
Includes Magnum and British Kent Goldings hops
Estimated ABV: 7.2%

Where do German Malts and English Hops exist side by side in peace and unlikely harmony. In our BKG Bomb of an IPA! This big brusing beer, with an amazing mouth feel from copius amounts of German Munich Malt, is big on deep malt flavor and big on alcohol. It is the antithesis of todays super citrusy hopped, pale colored IPAs. This is all about malt, malt, malt and how British Kent Goldings (BKG) hops blend oh so well with a malt heavy beer. British Kent Goldings are the most prized ale hops in England and known for their subtle nature and floral aromas that really compliment malt flavors. Do you need a little extra sustenance to make it through the winter? Do you like to slice your beer with a knife? Do you need a break from over-the-top hopped IPA's? If you answered yes to any of these questions, The BKG Bomb IPA II should be your next beer.
Features 10 lbs of German Munich Malt and 3 lbs of American Pale. As if that was not enough we also include some Carapils for body building. The 4 oz of British Kent Golding hops in the finish provided for a unique and authentic English flavor. Bittered with 2oz of Magnum hops for a firm bitterness to stand up to all the malt.

The Slimline Torpedo Keg series features a smaller diameter to maximize the space in your kegerator or keezer
Low2 lid O-ring reduces oxygen ingress by 96% compared to silicone O-rings when measured in a keg!
Brand new, all-stainless construction ball lock keg
Stackable with ball lock quick disconnects in place
Etched In and Out labels near the keg posts for easy identification
Rolled handles for a comfortable grip
Made by an ISO certified commercial keg manufacturer with high-quality laser welded seams
Torpedo Kegs too wide? Want to squeeze another keg in your kegerator? The patented design, D794,899, of the Slimline Torpedo Keg is 9% more slim than the classic model with all the same great features. Coming in at about 1/4" thinner than standard Ball Lock Cornelius Kegs, this keg has welded stainless handles and the ability to stack kegs with fittings still in place all at a great price.
Quality First
Here at MoreBeer! we love nothing more than quality interior welds. We've spent a decade rejecting kegs made overseas because the interior welds have never met our standards. If a weld is not perfect and shows evident burn marks along with nooks and crannies it cannot be sanitized effectively. Torpedo kegs are machine welded and exceed our standards for quality. This weld quality is possible because these kegs are made by an ISO certified commercial keg manufacturer.
Cool Features
Torpedo Kegs were designed to stack with Ball Lock quick disconnects in place and serving which is a cool feature for some brewers who have vertical space in their refrigerator. We also like the rolled stainless steel handles. They are comfortable to grab and will never come off like some rubber handles can over time. “In” and “Out” is etched near the keg posts for easy identification which is very handy when you are connecting lines in a refrigerator or kegerator and trying not to make a mistake.
Low2 Keg Lid O-ring
Give your beverage the absolute best protection from oxygen staling with the Low2 keg lid O-ring. Even the most perfectly sealed keg is susceptible to oxygen ingress through the hatch O-ring—yes, even if the keg is under constant pressure with CO2! Even a leak-free, pressurized keg will release CO2 molecules as they pass through the lid O-ring itself, and conversely, Oxygen molecules will permeate through the O-ring and diffuse into the keg when they reach the surface area on the other side. The level of permeability is wide ranging and highly dependent on what material the O-ring is made from. Rather than the usual EPDM or Silicone, Low2 gaskets are made from a unique composition of Synthetic M-Class and Cross-Link Elastomers. This special blend has superior oxygen barrier properties that results in your beverage staying fresher for longer.
Taking your keg on the go? Don't leave home without a custom tailored Slimline Torpedo Keg Sleeve!

Automated Filling System: Fill any beverage into any bottle, can, jar, or glass automatically with this internet-connected, RAPT-enabled Cannular Can and Bottle Filler, offering a more sanitary and user-friendly experience than competitors.
Integrated Pinch Valve and Regulator: The pinch valve allows easy removal of the beer line for cleaning, while the integrated regulator eliminates the need for an external regulator, preventing damage from high-pressure gas sources.
OLED Digital Display and WiFi Connectivity: The OLED display simplifies calibration and allows real-time adjustments, while WiFi connectivity to the RAPT.io portal logs usage data and enables remote management of settings and profiles.
Versatile and Multi-Purpose: With adjustable stainless steel tubes and a height range suitable for bottles up to 11.8" and cans up to 10.6", this filler can handle still or carbonated beverages, making it ideal for various containers including wine bottles, beer cans, and more.
Low Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Pickup: The filler effectively purges oxygen from the container, ensuring substantially lower dissolved oxygen levels, which enhances the quality and longevity of your beverage.
Fill any beverage into any bottle, can, jar, or glass automatically with this internet-connected, RAPT-enabled, Cannular Can and Bottle Filler. Featuring two adjustable stainless steel tubes, the Cannular Filler will use one to purge oxygen out of the vessel and then use the second one to fill the vessel to a precise level based on an internal pressure sensor.
OLED Digital Display
The OLED display makes calibration super easy. It also enables you to keep track of filling speed, number of cycles/fills, purge time, fill height, and also enables you to make on-the-fly adjustments to your filling requirements so you can conveniently tweak the settings while filling.
Integrated Ball Lock Connectors
The integrated ball lock connectors allow you to quickly attach your beer and gas ball lock disconnects. We recommend the use of the Duotight Ball Lock Quick Disconnects in Gas and Liquid to connect to these inputs and outputs.
Integrated Pinch Valve
The integrated pinch valve is one of the things that makes this unit far superior to other filling machines. The pinch valve enables you to easily remove the beer line for cleaning so the stainless tube, silicone hose, and yellow ball lock cap removes completely and can be put into the dishwasher or cleaned in the sink. The pinch valve is mechanically simple and therefore reliable. It is not subject to small particles like hops getting stuck in the device and eliminates the need for pre-filtration. It simply pinches down on the silicone tube to shut off the flow. This design also enables laminar flow that reduces foaming. The pinch valve improves reliability, makes it easier to operate, and a piece of cake to clean.
Integrated Regulator
Other filling machines require an external regulator that may need to drop the pressure lower than your normal keg dispensing pressure. Unlike these other fillers, this filler has an integrated regulator which saves time and setup costs. This integrated regulator means you will not damage your machine by accidentally connecting it to a high-pressure gas source. You can hook up your gas line without the need for another external regulator or to fool around with your gas supply at all. Just set the integrated regulator once during setup and forget about it.
Multi-Purpose
The long stainless tubes and adjustable height make this device useful for pretty much any bottles up to 11.8" (30cm) high or cans up to 10.6" (27cm) high. It can also be used for still or carbonated beverages, so this device is useful for wine bottles, beer cans, champagne, crown seal bottles, and pretty much any other bottle/can/vessel that has a neck opening greater than 0.59" (15mm). It can also be used for filling glasses, jars, or other vessels.
Fill Profiles
Some other machines require a full calibration to change from one vessel type to another. This machine allows you to pre-save fill profiles depending on what you are doing. Save a filling profile for your 12 oz cans and then save a different filling profile for your 750mL wine bottles. Use our pre-saved presets or alternatively make your own fill profiles with different purge times and fill height. These are also synced with the RAPT.io portal so you can save profiles and share them with friends or deploy them to several other devices.
RAPT.io Connected (via WiFi)
As well as all the features above, this filler connects to your WiFi and keeps track of your Cans Per Minute (CPM), fill speed, and even temperature (if you purchase the external Instant Read Temperature Probe separately). It will log all usage information so you can keep track of how your machine is running or even keep track of your staff to make sure they are cycling the machine at an acceptable rate. The connectivity to the RAPT.io portal will enable you to more easily change settings, update profiles, and keep track of your fill days so you can historically keep track of how your fill day went and which day you processed each batch.
Low DO Pickup
The quality and longevity of your beverage are often defined by how well you keep oxygen off your product. This filler purges the oxygen out of the can and will enable you to get substantially lower dissolved oxygen.
Wall Mounted Design
This type of can and bottle filler has primarily been designed for wall-mounting configuration. This allows you to bring a can or bottle up to the filler from the underside of the unit. To wall mount this unit you can download and print this template.

Designed for Brewing. Built to Last.
BrewBuilt brew kettles are made from 304 stainless steel and offer an unparalleled mix of features for the price. At the very top of the list are two welded-in place tri-clamp couplers that offer a lifetime of leak free use. As you can imagine, welding in a coupler costs more than punching a hole and using a gasketed (i.e. weld-less) fitting. Welded fittings offer a permanent connection that to us is worth every penny. The second unique feature that we absolutely love about these brew kettles is the notched lid with silicone plug. This notch allows you so much flexibility; you can use an immersion chiller, one of our Ultimate Sparge Arms for mashing, tie off hop bags, take a temp reading during cooling, or whatever else we all can dream up.
Our new T.C. kettles were designed to keep pace with the ever-evolving world of brewing technology. Tri-clamp fittings are standard fare in professional breweries, and they’ve been widely adopted in homebrewing as T.C. fermenters and pumps become more affordable and widely available. Tri-clamp fittings, also known as Tri-clover, allow you to make a sanitary connection that is free of nooks and crannies for contaminants to take hold. They are much easier to break down for cleaning compared to threaded connections, and they don’t require Teflon tape to make a watertight seal. T.C. fittings and accessories also give you the distinct advantage of being able to clean in place (CIP), so you don’t need to break down your entire system after every brew day.
Configurations
The base boil kettle comes without fittings so you can modify it the specific tri-clamp accessories that best suit your needs. Add one of the optional Brewing Kettle Valve Packs above which include your choice of valve and all the hardware you'll need to connect 1/2" ID transfer tubing, as well as an end cap to seal the top port if a thermometer or other accessory is not in place.
The Hot Liquor Tank includes the base kettle plus a kettle maximizer for the bottom port and thermometer with 2" probe for the top port. Clamps and gaskets are included to attach the tri-clamp kettle maximizer and the thermometer.
The Mash Tun includes the base kettle plus a false bottom kit for the bottom port and thermometer with 6" probe for the top port. Clamps and gaskets are included to attach the tri-clamp false bottom maximizer and the thermometer.
Kettles do not come with a valve or additional fittings for the bottom port as standard. Add one of our pre-configured Valve Packs or purchase your preferred valve and fittings separately.
This Brew Kettle has a lot to offer...
Some other features we dig include the internal volume markers from the bottom to the top - so handy for instant reads. The silicone sleeved handles on the kettle and the lid are a cool feature to protect your hands. The tri-clad bottom with a 4mm core of aluminum sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel offers even heat distribution during the boil and also makes it a perfect choice for anyone wanting to use an induction burner.
Beefy 304 Stainless
These kettles are made from 304 grade stainless. That means you will have less corrosion issues than with a kettle made from lower grade 201 type stainless. We put these kettles through a corrosive salt water test in the MoreBeer! shop and they passed with flying colors. We also made sure the rivets and riveted handles were also made of stainless steel for a long term, trouble free life. The 10 and 15 gallon size are made from 1.0mm thick stainless steel. The 20, 30 and 50 gallon size are made with 1.2mm stainless - that's pretty thick stuff - and you will know it when you pick one up.
Mirror Polish Finish
The mirror polish finish isn’t just for making your Instagram feed pop! This extra slick finish is much easier to clean and sanitize than a standard brushed stainless kettle. Hop trub and other organic solids left behind after a brew day will have a hard time clinging to the interior surface and scrub away with ease.
Size Ratios and Stuff
All the BrewBuilt kettles follow the recent trend to a 1.2:1 ratio where the height is 1.2 times the diameter. This is a proven commercial ratio that has been adopted in homebrewing to achieve a more consistent 10% evaporation rate during the boil. We do like this ratio for boiling. For Mashing we would prefer a little bit shallower but that is a small compromise. Dimensions for a hot-liquor tank, if you are thinking brewing system down the road, are irrelevant as any ratio kettle will do.
