Made in the USA by Briess, this Bavarian Wheat Dry Malt Extract (DME) is the perfect fermentable base for all your traditional wheat beers. After Briess' proprietary multi-step mash program, the wort is placed under a vacuum evaporator to gently remove the water while preserving the wort's full, rich flavor and minimizing additional color development. The mash program ensures high Free Amino Nitrogen (FAN) to ensure good yeast health and a high degree of fermentability. Production in the USA spares Briess extracts from long periods of time in shipping containers and ports, and ensures that you are brewing with the freshest extract available. And Briess extracts are always 100% All Malt with no adjuncts or additional sugars. Produced from 65% wheat malt and 35% barley. Click here to read the spec sheet from Briess

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Haze Craze is our take on the hazy New England IPA recipe. Also known as a North Eastern IPA, or Juicy IPA, it quickly became one of the most popular beer styles in the US. It packs all of the hop character that craft beer nerds love, and it's much softer and less bitter than classic West Coast IPAs, making it a much more approachable style for the uninitiated. The style accentuates hop character while maintaining a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Light in color but hazy due to heavy dry hopping, yeast selection, as well as additions of oat and wheat. Low in bitterness with a huge hop character due to hop-bursting, this beer will satiate even the biggest hop head.
NEIPA has become popular nationwide thanks to breweries like Tree House Brewing, The Alchemist, Hill Farmstead and Grimm Artisanal Ales. One taste of this delicious style will make a staple in your brew schedule.

At just under 5%, we like to think of this beer as a hop lover's dream. A truly sessionable IPA overflowing with hop character
Includes Warrior®, Centennial, and Simcoe® hops
Estimated ABV: 5%
Estimated IBUs: 58-62
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
If you're looking for a new session IPA to obsess over, look no further! We recently changed this recipe slightly, making all finishing hops Centennial (rather than a blend between Centennial and HBC-342). We made sure to keep the Simcoe® dry hop though, as we felt this really brought a "pop" to the aroma!
While the general rule of thumb has been "one or two IPAs and you're feeling it", at just under 5%, we like to think of this beer as a hop lovers dream. The type of IPA that you can open up at noon, get the grill going, and forget worrying about how you're going to feel after drinking 8% IPAs for a few hours! (Yes, we know that feeling too...)
A half pound of corn sugar helps this one finish out nice and dry, while a small amount of acidulated malt will help make those hops pop. The clean bitterness of Warrior® balances perfectly with a slightly sweet malt profile, all topped off with a white, frothy head thanks to the wheat malt.
So what are you waiting for?! Order your kit today and let the obsession begin!

This German-style Wheat Beer recipe allows Hefeweizen yeast to shine at the forefront of the flavor profile. One of most popular kits ever!
Includes a single addition of Northern Brewer hops
Estimated ABV: 4.5%
Estimated IBUs: 13
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
This German-style Wheat Beer has a lovely blond color and distinct hazy appearance in the glass. The flavor for German Hefeweizen is primarily based on the flavor of the very specialized Hefeweizen yeast, so be sure to select one of these strains for fermentation. Just be ready for a vigorous fermentation! This beer is known to pop off airlocks if there isn't enough room in the fermenter. This kit does not contain any steeping grain, using 100% Bavarian Wheat malt extract. A dash of Northern Brewer hops provides just enough bitterness to balance the malt and yeast character. Despite the simple recipe, this is one of our most popular ingredient kits. Our German Hefeweizen is a customer favorite that has brought home many ribbons.
If you want to put a little spin on this recipe, add 8 oz of Caramunich and 4 oz of Chocolate malt to make a Dunkelweizen!

Lightly colored ale with some sweetness from the honey
Our Gluten Free recipes use Sorghum extract for the base fermentables

Estimated ABV: 5.6%
Estimated IBUs: 15-18
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
This ale recipe features the use of clover honey, dried rice extract and sorghum. Try adding some dark candi syrup to give it some color.
Gluten-Free beers are a different world when it comes to finding a suitable replacement for the base extract. Celiacs are allergic to the hordein protein found in the base malts such as 2-Row and Pilsner malt.
They are also allergic to the gliadin protein found in wheat which is the biggest offender of the two proteins. As a homebrewer your goal is to find a suitable fermentable that can emulate the maltiness in beer.
Our Gluten Free recipes use Sorghum extract for the base fermentables. Hops aggressively cut through the maltiness from sorghum easily. Hop additions in gluten free beers tend to be 40-50% less than normal.
All our gluten-free kits include dry yeast due to the small traces of the gliadin protein found in liquid yeast. (Although lab research has found the yeast metabolize the gliadin protein after fermentation and significantly reduce the ppm present.)

MoreHaze! is a delicious, juicy, NE style double IPA. This beer was brewed as a collaboration between EJ Phair Brewing Co. and MoreBeer! We liked the beer so much that we wanted people to be able to brew it at home.
The beer is very high in alcohol (9.1% ABV), low in bitterness, light in color and loaded with hops. We dry hopped this beer in multiple stages, added lots of high protein grains and did not use any clarifying agents, which leads to a hazy beer loaded with flavor. Flavor and aroma is very citrusy (orange, tangerine, grapefruit) and mildly danky. The large addition of wheat and oats adds a soft, pillowy texture to the beer. The feed back was that this beer is delicious and dangerously easy to drink at such a high ABV.

In 2011, the White House home brewed beer for the first time in, well, perhaps centuries! We were super were excited when a MoreBeer! customer first submitted his freedom of information act request for the White House homebrew recipes. We were a little surprised, and we'll say it - let down - when we saw the actual recipes. One MoreBeer! staffer blurted out "Whoa...this seems like beer that Prince Harry should be brewing." English malt extract, English hops, and even an English yeast strain were used; so the only thing truly American was the honey! It seems that we were not the only beer lovers to pick up on this. So while we really, really love English beers as much as the next homebrewer, we think the White House Brewmasters should be using fresh ingredients from well...America.
Since we were tweaking the recipe towards this side of the pond, we decided we could also help educate the White House staff on their yeast selection. Yes dry yeast has gotten better but since this is the White House and all, we think they can spring for liquid yeast...and is there any better choice for this recipe than Wyeast 1056 AMERICAN Ale or White Labs 001 California Ale?? Not really. In fact, just queue up the star spangled banner, turn on the football game, and throw some hot dogs on the grill because we are starting to feel pretty patriotic here.
So while we send this kit along with our friendly suggestions back to the White House, YOU can make the exact same beer at home. That way if you are in a diner somewhere on the campaign trail and the president pulls up you can whip out a bottle of the 'Honey Pale the White House Should Be Making' or the 'Honey Porter the White House Should Be Making' and enlighten the Top Dog, homebrewer style.
This American Honey Pale Ale uses all American ingredients, including:
White Wheat, Crystal 15L, and Ultralight Malt Extract
Cascade hops
California Wildflower Honey
Truly a classic American Pale Ale recipe! This ale will deliver a smooth blend of Cascade floral character and biterness, tempered by a slight sweetness from the honey. Shaun is known for creating beers that are well-balanced while doing some unique things, such as using watermelon juice in a wheat beer, or oyster shells in an oatmeal stout. His Assistant brewer Jesse created this beer, an easy-drinking pale ale with few bittering hops but giant fistfuls of flavor and aroma hops. This beer has low alcohol and a soft malt backbone with an incredible hop finish - your answer to the hop shortage! Jesse and Shaun recommend using WLP001.
Shaun O'Sullivan of the 21st Amendment, San Francisco, California
Shaun's brewing career started like most in the beer industry - homebrewing. While working at a Southern California law firm, Shaun was spending his time making beers at home. After about 2 years, he not only decided that he wanted to make beer for a living, but that he wanted to open his own place! Shaun moved up to the SF Bay Area to start working at a few local breweries, while taking several brewing courses at UC Davis. Shaun eventually teamed up with his business partner Nicco Freccia, and together, they founded the 21st Amendment Brewery and Restaurant. They are one of the few breweries in the country leading the craft beer canning revolution, canning their "Brew Free or Die" IPA, and their "Hell or High Watermelon", which is an American-style Wheat beer brewed with real watermelon juice. When in San Francisco, visit Shaun at the brewery (563 2nd Street), which is just two blocks from Giants park.

This BrewMaster Series kit was scaled down to a homebrew batch size in collaboration with the brewmasters at Imperiale Beer Project Light, easy-drinking body paired up with delicious hop-forward flavors and aromatics Includes 100% Galaxy hops Estimated ABV: 4.4% Estimated IBUs: 21 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer It's a big brewing world out there, make sure you see as much of it as possible! Australian Sparkling Ale is one of those mysterious beer styles that a lot of us had never sampled (or even heard of, really). But its light, easy-drinking body paired up with delicious hop-forward flavors and aromatics make it an outstanding, sessionable brew. Pilsner dominates the malt profile with a dash of White Wheat and Carapils for body and mouthfeel, allowing the hop combination of Galaxy and Strata to really pop. Similar to how the best view of the Milky Way is on a moonless night in the Outback, these hops are on gorgeous display as post boil and dry hop additions, with very little bitterness to cloud the citrus, tropical, and cannabis character they impart. Symons Galaxy was first brewed at Imperiale Beer Project in Brentwood, CA as part of a virtual collaboration with Australian beer historian, Peter Symons. Who better to have at your side (albeit through the computer screen) than the gentleman who literally wrote the BJCP guidelines for the style? This collaborative effort resulted in a unique, modern take on the ASA style—introducing Strata, a non-Australian hop, into the mix to complement the heavy additions of Galaxy hops. Symons Galaxy was a smash hit, and is sure to satisfy any hop head out there. For great reads on historic Australian beers and other topics, check out Peter's collection of books here.
This BrewMaster Series kit was developed in collaboration with the brewmasters at E.J. Phair Brewing Company
A clean malt profile with very low bitterness and packed with hop aroma from multiple dry hop additions
Includes Citra®, Multihead, Idaho Gem™, and Cashmere hops
Estimated ABV: 6.6%
Estimated IBUs: 11
Makes 5 gallons of finished beer
Bow down and tremble homebrewer, for you are in the presence of a king! This 30-story tall liquid kaiju will singe your senses with multiple Multihead additions, culminating in a tropical gravity beam blast of guava and melon. Survive this opening assault and you’ll be hit with an Idaho Gem™ thunder spark of pineapple, and then swept away by hurricane winds of Cashmere lemon/lime and stone fruit. Just as King Ghidora is not limited to a single ferocious maw, you’ll be hard-pressed to have but a single pour of this juicy, tropical brew. Without a ragtag ensemble of advorseries spearheaded by Godzilla himself, King G will reign over your beer rotation till he ultimately brings about the Earth’s next extinction-level event and moves on to another planet victim.
King Ghidora was brewed in collaboration with our Pittsburg, CA neighbors, E.J. Phair Brewing Company. It features a clean malt profile of light DME with a touch of white wheat for head retention. With only a quarter ounce of Citra® added late in the boil, this beer shows very little bitterness and lets the flavor and aroma hops do the talking. The first dry hop addition is added to the fermenter before transferring wort from the kettle. Although this isn't a Hazy IPA, the beer will have a slight permanent haze due to biotransformation, which occurs when yeast interact with hop oils during primary fermentation.

This BrewMaster Series kit was scaled down to a homebrew batch size in collaboration with the brewmasters at Moonraker Brewing Company This juice bomb of a Hazy IPA overflows with flavors of peach, apricot and orange sherbet Includes Citra Cryo®, Amarillo®, and Apollo™ hops Estimated ABV: 7% Estimated IBUs: 40 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer Moonraker brewing is an absolute favorite amongst our staff members here in California. So, when they agreed to collaborate on a beer kit, we were through the moon. Moonraker is located in Auburn, CA and prides themselves on sustainability and quality. Their pedigree and collection of awards are undoubtedly incredible. Excelling at hazy IPAs, as well as traditional and experimental styles, everything produced is orally orgasmic. The beer is so delicious, if seen on tap in the wild, one MUST order the obligatory pint. When galaxies collide, stars and planets alike are ripped apart with all types of matter being flung hither and yon. Luminescent particles are scattered to the ether, condemned to wander the void or bound to coalesce into new celestial bodies. Some believe that amongst the chaos of colliding fragments, a mythical form of cosmic dust condenses into Space Nectar—matter so delicious that our Terra-bound taste buds would surely find it incomprehensible. Physics be damned, Moonraker Brewing Company's extraordinary Hazy IPA is the best estimation of what it may be like to take in this heavenly ambrosia. Space Nectar overflows with flavors of peach, apricot and orange sherbet. Over half of the hop bill is comprised of Cryo Hops® which lend a clean, pungent aroma to this absolute juice bomb. A healthy helping of pale wheat malt and flaked wheat provide the perfect amount of fuzz to complement the bright notes of stone fruit. If you can't wait to taste this juice bomb because it smells so good in the fermenter, don't worry! You can order directly from the brewery if you live in California! Try some of their constantly rotating selections alongside your own creation to see how they compare! Moonraker's head brewer, Brad Johnson, recommends cooling the wort to 170°F before adding the whirlpool addition to really make those hops pop. Dark Hill Porter is a tribute to one of our favorite west coast porters. This Black Butte Porter clone, commercially brewed by Deschutes Brewery in Oregon, is one of the most well-rounded porters out there. Being bittered with Bravo hops helps to initially balance the malty backbone, but that bitterness fades quickly, providing a smooth transition into the complex flavors of four different steeping grains. This combination of Wheat, Carapils, Crystal 120L, and Chocolate malts create a rounded mouthfeel and chocolate flavor.

So while we really, really love English beers as much as the next homebrewer, we think the Commander In Chief of America and his White House Brewmasters should be using fresh ingredients from well...America.
Since we were tweaking the recipe towards this side of the pond, we decided we could also help educate the White House staff on their yeast selection. Yes dry yeast has gotten better but since its for the White House and all, we think they can spring for liquid yeast...and is there any better choice for this recipe than Wyeast 1056 AMERICAN Ale or White Labs 001 California Ale??
White Wheat, Crystal 15L, and 2-Row grown in the USA
Cascade hops
California Wildflower Honey
Truly a classic American Pale Ale recipe! This ale will deliver a smooth blend of Cascade floral character and biterness, tempered by a slight sweetness from the honey. The California Wildflower Honey delivers just enough residual sweetness to result in an amazingly balanced, hoppily delicious pale ale.
