The Sansone Europa-AQ model Fusti tank is made from 304 stainless steel with a mirror polish finish and welded handles. Compared to the standard Europa model, the AQ model undergoes an additional pickling and polishing process. This process improves corrosion resistance, which is key for continuous use, especially in commercial settings like wine bars, taprooms, and coffee shops that might use the tank as a self-service water station.
Pickling
Specialized acids are used to remove any surface impurities, scale, rust, and weld heat-tinted layers. This crucial step eliminates potential corrosion initiation points and ensures a uniformly clean and reactive surface. Furthermore, pickling promotes the formation of a passive chromium oxide layer, an invisible shield that protects the stainless steel from oxidation and enhances its inherent corrosion resistance.
Polishing
