Description

Want clearer wort? Quicker chilling times? Higher hop utilization during flameout? Achieve all this and more by upgrading your system with the new Weldless Whirlpool Arm by Fermentap!

Designed to be installed underneath the handle of your kettle, this piece of equipment will allow you to achieve a perfect whirlpool in your Boil Kettle. Simply pump your wort from your ball valve, into this piece, which will jet around the inside of the kettle, forming a strong whirlpool. It will settle Trub in the center of your kettle, making it easy to pull clear wort from your ball valve. It also gives a much higher chilling efficiency when using an immersion chiller, due to the increased turbulation of wort. On top of this, the increased flow will result in higher extraction of hop oils and flavor during flameout additions!

  • Made of 100% stainless steel
  • It features a 1/2" Full Port ball valve and a 1/2" barb.
  • The inner barbed elbow is 3/8".
  • Features a 1/2" MPT outlet for hooking up your ball valve directly, along with FPT on the inside for connecting any brewing accessory you might want!
NOTE: You will need to drill a 1" hole for installation of this weldless spigot. We recommend a Step Drill Bit for this.

Please note: this item is a kit of our Weldless Ball Valve and a MPT x Barb Elbow fitting. You will need to to thread the elbow into the bulkhead after installing it on your kettle.

Will this whirlpool a 1bbl batch? Or is it too small?
Joe Kane on Dec 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I would think it would be too small. I use it for 5 gal batches and would rate it adequate. you will need at least 1/2 id pipe throughout to properly whirlpool 15 gal.

Great product
Creates a nice whirlpool. Installation is tricky, because the instructions do not say where exactly to install on the kettle, but the morebeer staff is very professional and prompt with emails. I'd like to see some sort of whirlpool device/arm that doesn't require drilling.

Awesome
I tapped a hole in my 20 gallon Blichmann kettle, attached this unit and sets up a great whirlpool, even using 15 gallon batches

Great addition to any kettle
I have just ordered by second one for my upgraded system and love this thing. Do need some real tools to get the 1" hole in kettle. I have had no issues with cleaning this piece and very little extra time has been required just recurc PBW thru system as always and give some time.
Great addition to any boil keg.

I am considering purchasing this, however, I am concerned about cleaning requirements. Have you guys noticed sediment build-up in the pipe threads? Is this one of those things that has to be taken completely apart at the end of each brew day and cleaned with a toothbrush, or will running some hot PBW through it with the recirc pump do the trick? Adding another 15 minutes to my cleanup to disassemble, clean, dry, re-tape and re-assemble is not appealing to me...

Installation in Blichmann BoilerMaker
Home-brew heaven.

Used a Greenlee 730BB-1 Standard Round Knockout Punch Unit, 1-Inch, to punch a clean round hole in Blichmann BoilerMaker 10 Gal. Easy.

(I will likely get additional use out of this modestly expensive tool as 1 inch diameter holes are useful, e.g., my transfer tubes OD are

Works great!
I agree with the earlier comment about the tools needed. All that said, I installed one on my 15 gallon heavy duty boil kettle, the installation went well and the unit performs great when coupled to a march pump. You need some manly tools to tighten it so it doesn't drip, but overall I would give it 5 stars.

Great product, install not for all.
This weldless whirlpool fitting is a really nice product. For all the components that are built into it, it's a great value. The whirlpool, once installed, works very well. The biggest draw back is the need for the 1" hole to be drilled. The recommended step bit for drilling this out will cost you $45 to $80 depending on the quality of bit you buy. On top of that, your typical cordless drill may not be able to handle that size bit. Do you research first, if you don't own the tools, it may be cheaper to find somebody to weld a fitting for you. Cheers!
