This new American White Oak barrel is made by hand and flamed to a medium toast. A small oak barrel is great for ageing your homebrew, homemade wine or spirits. The exterior is raw unvarnished wood, so take care to keep your barrel in tip top shape. Please Note: Allow 2 months extraction time to balance the extractions of short and long grain. This is our fastest extraction. BeerStix Tank Staves are basically oversized Carboy Stix that are designed to treat larger volumes of beer stored in tanks. These are TSS-60 Tank Staves, which are sized for 60 gal batches of beer. Thanks to careful selection of oak, followed by precise aging and seasoning, and exact toasting, these will provide a round and rich oak character specific to the toast level and origin. American Oak toasted to a Medium + with the beerstix milling will give you flavors and aromas of roasted coffee, light chocolate and honey, as well as some spice notes and hints of leather. Every beer will accentuate, or mask different flavors from the oak, so expect some variation between beers!
The Beerstix miling gives 60% more surface area compared to the Winestix, speeding up the extraction process, and getting you a beer that has a rich oak character, in less time. The Beer Stix are also milled thinner than the WineStix, allowing for denser toasting.

Oak Chips are a fast and economical way to add oak barrel flavor to any beer.
Oak Chips are made from seasoned American and French Oak staves which are chipped down and convection-toasted to create flavors similar to what a comparably toasted barrel would impart. The available toast levels are Medium, Medium +, and Heavy.
It's important to understand that each toasting level creates different flavors in the oak; not a greater intensity of impact in your beer. Don't think of them as weak, normal & strong; they're each a different flavor profile.
Heavy Toast French Oak chips will impart strong flavors of Clove, Spice, Smoke & Butterscotch; along with a small amount of Vanilla & Coconut flavor.
Because of the high surface area, oak chips can extract quickly and care should be taken not to overdo it. Taste your beer frequently after the first week of contact and be ready to rack off the oak chips.

Matt Brynildson of Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Paso Robles, California. It seems to some that Matt has almost been bred to brew beer. After getting a degree in chemistry in 1993, Matt went to work in Michigan doing research and development on hops for the brewing industry. In 1995, Matt went to the famous Seibel Institute of Brewing Technology to further his education. After brewing for Goose Island in Chicago and then moving to California to work for SLO Brewing, Matt was appointed Small Brewmaster of the Year in 2001. Later that year, he was asked to join the crew at Firestone Walker. Two years later Matt was dubbed Mid-Sized Brewer of the Year at the Great American Beer Fest AND at the World Cup of Beer, for a total of 12 medals in just three years! Since then, Firestone Walker has been gaining a large following in California due in part to it's flagship beer, Double Barrel Ale, which is produced in a Burton Union system that has the beer fermenting in barrels. Firestone Walker Brewing Company is the only brewery in the U.S. to ferment in barrels and one of only two in the world. Don't let the name fool you, this beer is easy on the oak, having been created so that all ingredients blend perfectly with one another, even the oak. In fact, the oak really takes a back seat to the wonderful malt characteristics that this beer presents, which may be hard to imagine once you realize there are 2 ounces of oak in this one! American base malt, a little Munich, some crystal, and that's it - simple, yet flavorful. Just how we like it. One can easily spend all night drinking this smooth amber ale ... in fact, many of us at MoreBeer! have done just that! Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.
WineStix are a new form of oak integration for wine, designed to give new barrel flavors with an extraction time similar to cubes. The combination of Short and Long grains result in amazing gradience of flavor similar to barrels, while extracting significantly quicker! These are Dark toast French Oak staves, and depending on the wine, will impart flavors of dark coffee, some carmelized sweetness, and a roasty smokey character that will compliment big blockbuster varietals. This is a two pack of WineStix, sized specifically for a 5-6 gallon carboy of wine. WineStix will easily fit through the mouth of a glass carboy, and can be attached to a string via the drilled hole for easy removal!

These tethers are designed to fit through the bung hole of a barrel, and sized to treat 59 gallons of beer (for smaller volumes, or less oak impact, simply cut off sections as necessary). Thanks to careful selection of oak, followed by precise aging and seasoning, and exact toasting, these Tethers will provide a round and rich oak character specific to the toast level and origin. French Oak toasted to a Medium + with the beerstix milling will give your beer toasted roasty aromas reminiscent of coffee, along with some caramel, and a subtle sweetness that gets the whole palate. Different beer styles will accentuate or mask different flavors from the oak, so expect some variation!
The Beerstix miling gives 60% more surface area compared to the Winestix, speeding up the extraction process, and getting you a beer that has a rich oak character, in less time. The Beer Stix are also milled thinner than the Wine Stix, allowing for denser toasting.
