Description

Nearly identical to popular Fuggles hops, Styrian Goldings hops are a low alpha varietal with a lovely, traditional European aroma. Commonly utilized in Belgian Ales, Lagers, and ESBs for that smooth, slightly spicy, and delicate noble aroma, Styrian Goldings could easily take the place of Willamette or Fuggles in any recipe. The name Styrian Goldings covers what can actually be a few different varietals grown in Slovenia (confusing for sure). Our Styrian Goldings is the Celeia varietal.

This was an excellent choice to use in my first attempt at a saison. I’ll definitely repeat. I’m also very pleased with my results using it in an imperial cream ale.

green pellets
I brewed a raw ale adding one ounce as hop tea I made from some wort taken out of the mash and added back in at the end, and another ounce dry hopped and it had a delicious, grassy/herbal character played off some Vienna malt. I would use it more times.

Good Reliable hops
Great Packaging, not a simple pack, but good zipper pouch so I can re-use left overs in future batch.

Used on a stout and came out just as expected

Excellent Hop to create flavor balance in English Bitters/Ales
I use these hops for flavor and aroma in addition to either Kent Goldings or Challenger which I typically use for Bitters to create a balanced complex smooth hop flavor.
Example:
If I use 1 oz of KG at 10 minutes I would substitute 0.5oz of Styrian Goldings and 0.5 oz of Kent Goldings. 1:1 ratio
The resulting flavor is a more complex then can be achieved by EK alone.

I'll also use it at the last 2 minutes for a delicate aroma and steep for 30 minutes while the wort cools in the chiller.
