Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Nice look and good initial taste.
Just kegged it but it fermented nicely and seems good on first taste. Will let it rest for another 2 weeks and try it then.

Great beer!
Started with kit and added malt extract to bring the alc level higher. Strong fermentation the first week then racked to secondary for 3 months. Beer finished beautifully and encouraged me to age more of my beers.
Starting g 1.070
Finished 1.013

Very good if you are patient!
As other reviewers mentioned this beer is very fun to make. My first batch came out with very high DMS and I am not a big fan of DMS (despite the fact that it is present in many well known European beers).

Being a newbie I did my research and learned that I needed to make sure that the boil was uncovered to release the DMS. So my second batch came out with slightly less DMS but still more than I prefer. I almost threw the batch out but decided to keep it bottled. I stowed it away for the last 8 months and it appears the flavor of this beer gets much better with age. The DMS (for whatever reason) tends to become less prominent as time goes by.

So my recommendation with this one is a strong rolling boil uncovered and age it in bottles for at least a year. After that you will have a very good dubbel.

Great go to beer that everyone loves
I love this kit. I have made it 5 times now and it just keeps getting better the more I experiment with it. Patience is important with this beer. I recommend using a yeast starter with this one. I would also recommend doing a secondary fermentation as well. Figure out which time periods work best for you. My last batch was 3 weeks in each and I think it was my best one to date. Also, you are going to be looking at 1-2 months to carbonate as well. I know that sounds high but just be aware of it. This is a great beer that is easy to make that can really impress people with your abilities.

Wedding hit
I have now made this kit twice. The second time was for my buddy's wedding and the guests loved it. The 5 gal keg was drained in about an hour.
Great flavor, great color.

Good kit and fun to make
I am still drinking this beer over a year after brewing and it continues to age and gain complexity. It was fun to make and learn about belgian candi syrup. I was impressed how well this compared with well know belgian dubbels. Fellow beer geeks have concurred with me!

Very nice Dubbel!
My first Belgian Dubbel experience, turned out excellent. Yield: 6.5% ABV, better with age (stored in basement @ constant 68 deg F). Shared with friends and enjoyed!

Good beer
I made this beer and it came out nice after 30 days in my secondary and with 2 days of 30psi in my keg. Next time I will be adding a pound of Belgian dark sugar.

Another nice dark beer
I had to split this into two small batches, and never really had the patience to let it really sit in the bottles long enough, and it still tasted great. I will try next winter to get ahead so I let it sit longer.
