Description

Great to keep on hand, either as a backup, or as a go-to yeast for your lagers. Produces a nice lager taste: clean and crisp.

Finally there is dry yeast we can recommend for lagers. This bottom fermenting yeast is widely used by Western European commercial breweries. This yeast develops the best of its flavors when fermented at low temperatures (48F-59F) yet it can still produce "lager characteristics" at higher temperatures. We recommend that you keep it between 48F-59F to produce the best beer possible.

This is marked as directly pitchable yeast and there are no rehydration instructions.

If you prefer to rehydrate your yeast anyway, here's our quick method: Suspend yeast in 4 oz of warm water (90-100F). Do not stir. Let stand for 15 minutes. Stir gently. Add an equal amount of wort to your solution. Cover, let sit for five minutes, and pitch.

Won 2 gold medals and a BOS using Saflarger S-23
I brewed an Eisbock in Oct 2016. At the 2018 Arizona Society of Homebrewer's Springfest I won gold and BOS. At the first round of NHC 2018 San Diego I won gold. Love the flavors this imparts to the beer.

Another Satisfied Customer
Pitched to a cream ale. Cold conditioned. I was Worried about bottle conditioning, but it carbonated well and has a nice lager flavor.

Easy Start and Very Reliable Dry Lager Yeast
I kept this yeast as a backup to liquid yeasts but decided to give it a try. I made a Stella clone and pitched this yeast directly on well aerated wort. I saw yeast production within 12 hours at 70 degrees and it stayed active down to 52. Clean and crisp. I'll use this as a "go to" for lagers and pilsners.

Love this versital lager yeast
I can't say enough about it. It makes a great kolsh if you start warm and ramp down and great lagers starting cold with a late ramp up for DMS blow off.

Best choice really for a clean and crisp lager.

Carry back up!
Why not? Good price... Tough to prop enough lager yeast in the 2000ml flasks. Add this baby to get a jump start on things.

Clean and neutral
Great for when your liquid yeast quits or fails to start. Keeps for a long time. Buy a few even if you are planning on using another brand of yeast, just in case...

Works best if you grow it up in a starter.
