As a home brewer who kegs you would have the option to "counter pressure" fill beer bottles directly from your keg. The advantage of doing this, beyond being able to bottle a six pack at anytime, is the option to bottle crystal clear beer after it settles out in the keg. This results in sediment free beer in the bottle, instead of the thin layer of yeast you get when you bottle condition with sugar which is the normal process.
