MoreBeer!'s Deluxe System is identical to our Basic System, except that it replaces one of the plastic buckets with a superior glass carboy and a siphon set-up for only $30 more. Barring accidents, carboys will last forever. While plastic buckets are an economical way to make beer, they can be more difficult to completely sanitize and therefore made 100% bacteria-free an imperative condition in brewing beer for perfect flavor.
Our seven-year sales statistics reveal that the vast majority of Beginning Brewers choose this Deluxe System over our Basic System. We also know that most brewers who start with inexpensive, plastic fermenters eventually do upgrade to the carboys. Carboys also have the advantage of being clear, so you can see the yeast "working" during fermentation. The disadvantages of carboys are that they are somewhat awkward to handle, heavy to lift, and breakable, so caution must be used. If you want an optimal starting advantage, go with this System.
As with System #1, you will also need: 1) a 5 gallon Brewing Kettle BE300, 2) two cases of 22oz Recappable Bottles B320, and 3) an Ingredient Kit for each batch you make.
