In addition to glass, we offer a plastic 5 and 6 gallon plastic carboy as well. This is not your usual plastic! These are made out of special polyethylene terephthalate copolymer (PET) plastic and are BPA-free, DEHP-free, and plasticizer-free. This means:
- The carboy is very strong (it will not break if dropped when full of liquid!)
- Taste and odor-free, they will not absorb or impart any color or odors.
- Essentially impermeable to oxygen
- Light weight
- This special PET formula is "hydrophobic" (non-wetting), which means it is extremely easy to clean
Note: While safe to use with any of the usual sanitizers (Star-San, Sani-Clean, PBW, and SO2, PET plastic should not be heated above 125 F (52 C).
