A stainless conical is a fermenter for the intermediate to advanced homebrewer. They replicate, on a smaller scale, the professional stainless conical fermenters you will see in most every commercial brewery.
Experienced brewers prefer them for the following reasons:
1) MoreBeer! gives you peace of mind with an incredible 5-year warranty on our welds -
something you won't find anywhere else!
2) The conical shape facilitates sediment of trub at the very bottom. This trub can be
removed by opening the bottom valve and dumping out, which allows more flexibility
as beer can be aged longer in the fermenter if the trub is removed. Brewers making
delicate lagers also prefer to remove the trub before fermentation ever starts and a
conical fermenter makes this very easy and practical to do.
3) Yeast collection after the trub is dumped out, yeast can be collected and repitched
into a later batch.
4) Easy sampling can be done, for tasting or testing, at any time through the rotating
side port -a long-time standard feature on all MoreBeer! conicals.
5) Eliminates siphoning by drawing beer off from the bottom or the rotating side port.
6) Will last longer than plastic fermenters with less worry about flavor contamination or
infection.
7) Greater safety - unlike glass, a stainless conical will never break.
8) All fitting ports are welded on, solving any problems of leaky weld-less fittings or
threaded plastic valves, while making our conicals easier to clean and sanitize.
MoreBeer! Conicals - The Original Stainless Conicals For Homebrewing!
Beer, Beer & More Beer manufactures multiple models of stainless conical fermenters with volumes of 7.1, 12.2, or 24 gallons. We are continually focused on making the best quality fermenters possible. Since we are the only company that manufactures fermenters in our own fabrication shop and then also directly retails these units, we are able to offer you the highest quality product at prices equivalent to others on the market.
Features That Differentiate MoreBeer! Stainless Conicals From The Competition
Welded Fittings Not Weld-less fittings
Some fermenters are sold with weldless fittings instead of fittings that are welded on. A weldless fitting seals on the inside of the fermenter with a threaded shank, nut and rubber o-ring that can get pinched and possibly cause leaks. We make weldless fittings for boil kettles, mash tuns etc., but we don't put them on the inside of a fermenter. Here's why:
Any nook, cranny, or crack can potentially harbor bacteria and a weldless fitting is ripe for possible contamination, due to the grooves in the threads. In a Boil Kettle, Mashtun or Hot Liquor Tank a weldless fitting is fine because it is pre-boil, and therefore sanitization is less important because the boil will kill any bacteria. In a fermenter, any seal in contact with the beer is critical and the more you minimize areas for yeast and bacteria to form in, the cleaner your beer will be. If you were to use a weldless fitting in your fermenter, it would need to be disassembled every single time to clean and sanitize each individual piece in order to ensure a contamination-free environment. These fittings are used because welding is more difficult and takes considerable skill, not to mention the added cost. Ask any professional brewer if they would want to have a weldless fitting on their stainless fermenter and the answer will be "No way!", even though it would be easy to drill a hole and add a weld-free fitting. They want to reduce potential contamination and leaks, and so do we!
High-Quality Fittings:
Our fittings are sturdy, “industrial-strength” fittings, which will ensure you a lifetime of use. In the case of our “Pro-Series” Conicals, the valves we use are the same ones that your favorite brewery uses!
Many Standard Features:
Each MoreBeer! Stainless Conical comes standard with a rotating racking arm, a stainless steel lid, two beautifully welded fitting adapters, and two low-profile handles (no need to constantly fold and unfold handles, these are designed to be out of the way).
On our Economy models, the legs are shortened so these units can better fit inside of a refrigerator. Each Economy Conical comes with a 90-degree bottom dump, standard.
The Power To Cool:
MoreBeer! Conicals are the only ones on the market designed to have a self-cooling option. No room for an extra refrigerator? We have the answer! Our cooling units are very powerful and can cool your beer down to 30 degrees below ambient on average - all without the need to make room for a seperate temperature device!
Welded From the Inside NOT the Outside
When we weld-in our fittings, all of the welding is done FROM THE INSIDE of the stainless cone. This means there are no pockets, nooks or crannys in the weld that will harbor bacteria. Over the many years we have been making these fermenters, we have purchased the tooling and developed the processes that allow us to get a precise fit between the fitting and the stainless cone, letting us to weld these fittings to our cones the proper way. We've also designed and machined copper blocks, custom-fitted to the exact radius of the cone. These copper pieces remove heat during welding which eliminates any warpage. It is extremely difficult to make perfect welds working in the inside of a stainless conical but this is what Mike Milem, our welder, specializes in. In addition to being a very skilled welder, he is also a great brewer and certified BJCP beer judge.
Functionally Perfect - Cosmetically Pleasing
In addition to being functionally sound we also go to great lengths to insure a cosmetically pleasing fermenter. While the welding is done from the inside, the outside of the weld is continually flushed with Argon so that no burn through (welding slag) occurs on the exterior of the weld. We then use a very special machine that uses an electro-chemical blend of acids and electricity to passivate the weld while also removing any residual welding stains.
100% Completely Stainless
No brass or aluminum on our fermenters. All the stainless is either 304 or 316. We figure if you are going to go through the lengths to get stainelss steel in your brewery, why quit at the frame?
Industry-Leading Warranty:
We are so confident that you will have no problems with a MoreBeer! Stainless Conical that we back it with a 5-year Warranty on all of our welds! - you won't find this type of industry-leading warranty anywhere else!
