Counterflow Wort Chiller
Counterflow wort chillers are essentially a tube within a tube. Hot wort is circulated through the inner tube in one direction and coolant (usually water from a garden hose or faucet) flows in the outer tube in the opposite, or "counter" direction (hence the name!).
Counterflow Chiller tips:
- Cooling efficiency can be increased by adjusting both water temperature and the flow rate through the wort chiller (make sure your pump has been designed to be throttled down without harming it, like our March High Temperature Brewing Pump).
- We highly recommend cleaning the counterflow with PBW and hot water after each use to avoid harboring unwanted organisms where a brush can't reach!
