Description

One of our favorite strains for producing a nice clear English ale.  Try this on your next English bitter or brown if you prefer a drier, easier drinking beer.

A classic British ale profile with good flocculation and malty flavor characteristics. It will finish crisp, clean and fairly dry.

This is the one
This is the one you want for a very traditional British Bitter, much like you would get in the eastern counties just north of London (Suffolk, Norfolk). This yeast with traditional British malts and a somewhat traditional recipe and methods, will yield a Bitter very, very similar to Adnams, Greene King, or the highly missed Tolly Cobbold. Be sure to use a good classic hop variety, Kent Goldings or Fuggles - and no, "bitter" does not mean to load the darn thing with as many hops as you can. A traditional bitter only has about 2 ounces of hops, maybe 3 (at the most) for a 5 gallon batch. On the Mr Malty website, it is claimed that this yeast comes from the Southwold Brewery (Adnams). BTW - the yeast in use at Adnams, last I knew, was the same one since WWII. It was changed then only because the brewery was bombed during the war.
