Description

5.1-7 °L - Weyermann® - To increase body, aroma, malty sweetness and a slight biscuit flavor. A great reason to do mini-mashing or all grain brewing. This malt contains about half the enzyme potential of 2-row malt, which is enough to self convert in a mash. It can be steeped in an extract brew to achieve some of the flavor contribution, but will not add any sugars in a steep.

This is a must malt if you looking to construct a true European-style lager.

Is the German Munich Malt-Weyermann equal to Munich 1 malt? I am trying to keep my SRM around 7.0 from that malt.
Randall Manion on Feb 4, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. And the dark Munich is the same as Munich 2. Thanks!

So much malt flavor and aroma.
The sealed bags from MoreBeer seem to keep the malts fresher, resulting in noticeably MoreFlavor and MoreAroma in my Oktoberfest.

Adds malt depth without the sweetness
I just used this in an extract Pale Ale recipe where I steeped 8oz Munich, 8oz Victory, 8oz Crystal 20 and 8oz Crystal 40. The Munich malt added depth to the whole malt profile and counter-balanced the sweetness of the Crystal malts very well. This beer ended up tasting like crisply sweet honey toasted bread with a dry finish. A fantastic beer and the head retention is out of this world!
