Can you do Sauerkraut in these containers?
Why choose this over the FE730?
Es cuestión de gustos. Ambos sirven igual
Simplest answer of choice came down to not knowing about the FE730. Looks like a space saver I may consider in the future. However the other speidel for my purposes fits perfectly in my converted fermentation refrigerator and without any corners is very quick to clean.
Better utilization of space and sits better on our pallets to move. would be better if they came with metal spigot because we have to order it separate. The plastic ones leak and can't be cleaned properly.
I believe the height and shape are more suited for fermenting the FE730 I think is more for long term storage of wine. I am very happy with my FE720 and with part #FE742 and a ball valve it is very easy to drain and clean.
Wider mouth makes it easier to clean it. Also it’s dimensions fit better on our wire racking. Before we got a glycol chiller we used chest freezers to ferment therefore these fit perfect on our system. It’s up to your needs which one to get bit talking about quality there are no differences.
I have one of each. I use them for wine. I like the 720 for longer term aging and find the 730 works better for fermentation because of the ability to punch down the cap with the wide opening.
I have used both but prefer the FE730 over the FE720 because I don't use them for fermentation only for short term storage (i.e. Time to remove wine from an oak barrel but not ready to bottle). I have friends that use the FE720 for red wine fermentation and for post fermentation maceration and that works better for them due to the wide open top. Bottom line is the FE720 with the wide open top is better for fermentation and the FE730 with the smaller screw on top is better for storage.
Just depends on your setup as in your space. I have racks made for these and the 120L and also fit the variable capacity ones too. But if you like the square do the square man it's essentially no different except the shape. Well and the lid. I love that the ENTIRE top comes off for cleaning but that wasn't on my mind when I bought these (I think we have around a dozen of these in 60-120l now.
Will this fit with the airlock in a kegerator?
Unfortunately no.
It will not I've tried multiple times and it's about 2 inches to tall
Can't answer the question. I don't know the dimensions of a kegerator (don't have one). I can tell you the whole thing barely fits inside a normal size refrigerator.
Do not believe so at least not in a standard size one.
what sized tubing fits the speidel spigot?
1/2" ID silicone tubing fits perfect.
Can you use a vacuum pump to move wine into these vessels?
Yes that can be done through the top port in lid by removing airlock or through the turn valve in bottom.
Yes you can use a vacuum pump as well as co2 pressure to push the liquid out.
