  • German malts and English hops collide. BKG Bomb is a far cry from today's modern, citrus-forward IPAs
  • Includes Magnum and British Kent Goldings hops
  • Estimated ABV: 7.2%
  • Estimated IBUs: 84-88
  • Makes 5 gallons of finished beer

Where do German Malts and English Hops exist side by side in peace and unlikely harmony.  In our BKG Bomb of an IPA!  This big brusing beer, with an amazing mouth feel from copius amounts of Munich Malt Extract, is big on deep malt flavor and big on alcohol. It is the antithesis of todays super citrusy hopped, pale colored IPAs.  This is all about malt, malt, malt and how British Kent Goldings (BKG) hops blend oh so well with a malt heavy beer.  British Kent Goldings are the most prized ale hops in England and known for their subtle nature and floral aromas that really compliment malt flavors. Do you need a little extra sustenance to make it through the winter? Do you like to slice your beer with a knife? Do you need a break from over-the-top hopped IPA's? If you answered yes to any of these questions, The BKG Bomb IPA II should be your next  beer.

Features 9 lbs of Munich Malt Extract along with an extra pound of light Dried Malt Extract. As if that was not enough we also include Maltodextrin for body building.  The 4 oz of British Kent Golding hops in the finish provided for a unique and authentic English flavor. Bittered with 2oz of Magnum hops for a firm bitterness to stand up to all the malt.

So Bitter, just what I like.
I haven't actually bottled yet,(soon) but I've sampled. Lots of body, good malt, and a creeping, lingering bitterness, in a good way. Everything I want in an IPA.

Bkg Bomb is the Bomb
Bottled this about 6 months ago and man is this beer good. Tried the first one at four weeks and now at 6 months great. Buy it again, yes and I would recommend this beer kit if you’re a beer drinker. Thank you Morebeer

A bit too sweet...
Brewed this last month with friends. Very easy recipe. It has a very rich body, very malty. But I think the maltodextrin adds too much sweetness. Was expecting the Kent Golding hops to come forward more.

Bold, nutty-tastings, double IPA.
This was my first time brewing. Easy recipe to follow. A very unique, nutty-tasting, double IPA. The ABV was higher than stated in the recipe at 9.1% (not complaining). I would order it again.

Good flavor, low carbonation.
Very hearty and malt forward for an ipa. I really enjoyed the flavor but i havent reached full carbonation 5 weeks after bottling. I used the best of both worlds yeast blend and i here that low carbonation is part of the English style. Same thing happened with a barley wine that i used this yeast with but that was easier to age. Anyways, good beer, pretty strong but kind of flat.

Noob proof
This was my first time brewing, and in spite of me letting the grain bag open up, and pitching the yeast too warm (80 degrees), fermenting a tad too warm (I totally smelled bananas and thought it was ruined) it still came out excellent. I did let it sit in a secondary fermenter for two weeks with oak chunks that I soaked in scotch, can't really taste that, but I like to think that got rid of any bananas. Anyway this tastes more like a malty Amber ale with some nice ipa-ish hops. I would definitely like brew this one again

My favorite so far....
Granted, I only have about 9 different brews under my belt, but this is my favorite so far. In fact, it ranks up there with some of the best beer I've every had. I followed the directions exactly, and used Saf-05. It's been in the bottle for about 6 weeks now, and is extremely good. I'm looking forward to finding out how it tastes after another 2 months or so. I suspect it will only get better...which will really be something considering how much I like it now.

Excellent
This IPA turned out better than I had expected. I Let it sit in the fermenter 20 days (I used S-05) ale yeast and it took that long to get to Gravity. Fermented at temps of 66-68. 2 week bottle condition. Tasted fine at two weeks but it really started to taste great around the 4 week mark. Friends loved it. All I got were complements and requests for more! Gave away close to half to friends and family and I wish I'd saved more for myself. Definitely going to brew this one again in the near future as I absolutely loved the beer this kit produced.

5 stars for my first homebrew kit
This was my first kit EVER. I had read The Complete Joy Homebrewing by the time I was ready to brew so I had a pretty "decent" idea of what I thought needed to happen. The instructions included were more than enough to get from a kit of ingredients to a delicious IPA in a few weeks.

Besides it just being a great kit anyone can do... It was a seriously good IPA in my opinion. I handed one out to everyone who was of age to drink a beer and they all had the same response "you didn't make this".

*Highly recommended*
