Bought our first plate filter 11 years ago and still using it.We purchased another as back-up in case our older one was disabled. Highly recommend this filter for crystal clear wine.Tom F.

This product works well for me (using the rough pads). It did start to leak when I put it to 8 psi, but it normally works well under 5 psi.

Got this to filter trial batches of cold brew coffee. Leaked pretty considerably, but might be due to the sediment load. Polished the coffee right up, though.

I have used this filter on one ten gallon batch of Dry Hopped IPA that was cloudy. I used 0,5 micron filters. I put the filter assembly in a pan because I read about leaking. I was able to seal the leaks on the top but it must have been leaking at the bottom because I ended up with quite a bit in the pan. I will keep a better eye on it next time. The beer did come out clear. I will use it again. I don't know if I will use the 1.0 or the 1.5 micron pads

Wasn't sure it was working as the beer being filtered looked clear going into the filter. When all was said and done I went to through the filters away and they had completely changed color. The beer is incredibly clear. Should've bought one years ago.I only wish it came with more filters.

No leaks, durable plastic housing. I would wish tubing was silicone and not pvc. 5-7 micron filter that came with the kit worked great on my cider.

Does the job...decent instructions. Pads get expensive.

No leaks, hassles or drama after several uses. Wish I bought this sooner. Read the instructions carefully and do what they say and set up is easy, and no leaks, even at higher pressures. Sanitization is a lot easier than I thought it would be. My process is to cold crash and maybe fine as before and then transfer from carboy to keg (as before) but through the filter using POLISH pads only. Transfer time through polish pads is about 15-25 min (instructions say it can be up to an hour).- Beer is crystal clear- No sediment in bottles that have been sitting around for a while- I can get the last drops out of a carboy and still have a crystal clear keg- Problems w/ gout are better -- (not sure if this is due to the filter or not)A great tool for those who place an importance on clear beer.

Another of the "what took me so long?" purchases. This plate filter worked very well, and although there is a little leakage (as noted in the enclosed literature), it was minimal and nothing a conveniently placed towel couldn't handle. Easy to dismantle and reassemble. I soaked mine in Iodophor, and used a weak solution to sanitize the filters as well. This is a must have tool!

The filter works alright but will leak if not used carefully.

I have had some minor problems with lleaking, and the process is slow...but is does the job. Also, have never noticed any carry over filter taste going into the beer

I bought two of these and run them in series so I can coarse filter and fine filter at the same time. My meads come out brilliantly clear. Let your beer or wine settle or cold crash them to let most of the sediment settle. I filtered a young wine that was hazy without cold crashing and filtration significantly slowed as the first filter almost clogged. Take your time and tighten the nuts evenly according to the instructions or you will have leaks.

Works as expected. If you are unsure how to use it, listen to the Brew Strong podcast about filtering on the Brewing Network and hear how Mike "Tasty" McDole uses the same setup. It does take some time and patience, but 30 minutes is a hell of a lot faster than the weeks that it would take to clear without filtering. Highly recommended.

Let me start by saying I considered on and off about purchasing these filter, mainly because all the old reviews are great but the last few terrible .. implied things had changed, so I emailed Moorebeer prior to purchase to ask the questions about why ? The response I got was a slightly puzzled person from more beer that could not explain, and confirmed they are the same for the last 2 years always and white filter paper (somebody said brown in one review). So one night after a few beer ... I purchased ..Well I have to say I am so happy, the plate filter is really easy, actually REALLY EASY to use. I just followed the instruction but sure things were the right way around.. The only thing I did different was I used the "polish" filter straight away instead of doing rough etc .. I did this as it was a clean pils that I had cold crashed for 48 hours. This filter was fantastic the beer that came out was "crystal clear" and tasted great even though I have not carbonated yet .. The filter took 25-35 min and I did not supervise, and total leakage would be less than 1/3 a glass, if that. The filter did slow down for the last 20% as I guess the filter had more junk on it, but it still went well. In summary ... Easy, and compared to my other filter (the standard type) it will never be used again, and is on its way to ebay as I speak.

The filter system seems to work great for me. Have only had a small leak on one of the approximately 12 times I've used it. Setup not difficult. Clears the beer well.

I really like this filter. I started using it some time ago and have had no major problems with it. Follow the directions, that's what they're there for. A few notes:- WAIT UNTIL YOUR BEER IS DONE FERMENTING. Wait until the kraeusen drops and the yeast falls out of suspension as much as it will.- Be careful when racking from the fermenter to the keg. You want as little yeast to come with the beer as possible.- Crash cool the beer in the keg for at least 24 hours before filtering to help yeast drop out.- Make the nuts hand-tight, but TIGHT. If you position the o-rings correctly and tighten the nuts correctly, you shouldn't have any leaks from the outer margin of the filter housing. A few pinch clamps on the tubing/barb connections will help with any leaks there (especially when you have ice-cold beer going through it).I just use the medium (polish) filters. IMHO, running beer through rough->polish->sterile is unnecessary, costly, and further increases the likelihood of infection (more transfers = more opportunity). I get a nice, clear beer. The biggest pro of using a filter is FLAVOR STABILITY. Do you like that fresh beer taste? It'll help it keep. Furthermore, if you have issues with gout like I do, this filter is your friend!

I've been using mine for about two years now, and i wouldn't trade it for anything. When used as directed, this plate filter performs amzingly, even with course pads. My IPA's and pale ales look professionally made, in fact clearer than many professional craft beers. Very easy to use, very consistent repeatable result. I love this thing!

I found out my wife was semi-allergic to yeast so I ended up buying this to try and help clear out as much yeast as possible. Works well and helped my situation greatly!

Love using this filter. Removes any left over yeastsediment and hop particles to produce clear beer.

This plate filter works well, but it's a slow process and can leak a bit. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra cleaning and time, at the end of it all the beer still tastes the same. It's more for show then go.

If you are looking to showcase professional looking beer in a short time, do no look further. My Kolsch has never looked this clear.

Works well, easy to use and easy to clean. Inexpensive disposable filter elements are a plus. The filter body does leak a little so set it over a bucket while filtering.

This filter works well. I've used it with beer and wine. I have never had it leak. It is easy to put together, take apart and clean.

This filter works well as long as you take your time and don't try to rush it along. Be aware it does leak a bit but not enough to be concerned with. I used the rough filter and it did an amazing job. Again take your time with it and it will work fine.

I filter most of beers now thanks to this plate filter. Easy to use and I just set the whole unit in a bucket just in case there are any leaks. I have found if you cold crash a lot of the yeast out, then filter cold with a polish filter at less than 7 psi I don't have any leaks, plus it only takes 10-15 minutes and achieves a great result.

Overall this is a very nice product. I have filtered beer in two different ways in the past. I started with the aquarium style filter, but I was not satisfied with how much beer seemed to be wasted in the process and the fact that the filter leaked no matter what I did. So, I switched to the plate filter product described here. I definitely prefer the plate filter to the aquarium style filter. I ended up just using the aquarium style filter to carbon filter (dechlorinate) my brewing water from the hose - which it does well.The plate filter does a great job filtering the beer. It comes out brilliantly clear. It also works well to filter the yeast out of ciders that you want to back-sweeten to avoid possible secondary fermentations. This way you mechanically remove the yeast and don't have to add chemicals to kill the yeast (if you're into that kinda thing).However, a word of caution:For awhile I had gotten really into filtering my beer. I loved the brilliantly clear character that filtration offered and made the beers look professional. However, I have noticed that filtering the beer does (at least in my hands) reduce head retention. The beer ends up heading a bit during the filtration process and once these proteins are used for heading, they don't come back. Also, if you are filtering very hoppy beers, some of the hoppiness (likely from filtering out polyphenols) is filtered out. I have started doing experiments with clarifying agents (gelatin to knock down the yeast followed by PolyClar do knowdown some of the haze from polyphenols) to clear the beer without stripping as much of the head potential and hop character. I have had early success with this technique and I plan to employ it again in the near future on a recent batch of IPA.I would say that if making a beer that is supposed to be very clear - Pilsner for example, ciders - then the filter works great. I stopped using it on my IPA's though.

This filter works well,but it's limit is about 5psi or it will start leaking,as long as you tighten unit evenly and don't overpressurise unit it will work well.
