  • Our Barleywine has a beautiful copper color, voluptuous body, and inviting smells of malt and hops
  • Includes Magnum and Cascade hops
  • Estimated ABV: 7.7%
  • Estimated IBUs: 82-88
  • Makes 5 gallons of finished beer

15 lbs of 2-row with 1 lb of Caravienne and 1lb of Caramunich malts for a rich crystal malt flavor. Huge flavor with good balance between malt and hops. This will age gracefully for years. Not for everyone, but those who like Barley Wines love this recipe.

Full bodied & Tasty
First BarleyWine- Brewed with WLP028 (Scottish/Edinburgh). OG a touch high, and high attenuation left me in the neighborhood of 8.5% ABV. Spent a month in fermenter, and another month cold conditioning in keg. At 2 months this is very drinkable with good balance between hops and malt and excellent body. Mine is low head retention. Very happy with results.

Wow, I love this Barley Wine...
My first time brewing BW and my wife who is not a fan of big beers loves it. Also had a friend who claimed he did not like BW until he had mine say it was very good. I have dad a few of these(5 or 6 since brewing) and it has gotten much better with age in bottles!

nice barleywine.... LET IT AGE!!!!
BREWED A 10 GALLON BATCH with great results. I split it into 5 gallon kegs and aged half on bourbon oak and the other half on cab sav oak. After tasting the wine oak keg I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Carmely, oaky, a ton of malt with just the right amount of hops. I aged this for 6 months before tasting and it continues to develop. I havent tapped the bourboun oaked keg yet but I expect similar results. I used Bulliet 10 year bourbon with the hopes that it will bring out a light coconut/ molasses flavor. All in all, great kit.

Great Barley Wine
This was my first Barley Wine ever, and I love it. I have brewed it twice since with some minor tweaks (just to experiment.)
This one will taste weird after you've first brew it. It needs to condition. It has just the right amount of hops to stand up to aging. I usually brew it in August and end up with a perfect beer around Christmas. My friends and family always look forward to a few bottles in their Christmas baskets.

rocket fuel
This was my first attempt at Barley wine. It came out similar to Drakes barley wine. It fermented down to 9.5% alcohol. Rich light brown colour, good malt backbone with my estimated IBU 50. I think I would prefer a bit more bitterness. Nice spicy nose to it. I'm gonna bottle the rest and put it away for a long time.
