Do I need to purchase a flare fitting washer with this set?
Doc Farmer on Feb 26, 2018

1/4" Nut & 5/16 Barb
Flare Fitting - Washer
Flare Fitting - Washer
BEST ANSWER: Only if you are connecting metal to metal - such as a male flare on a manifold or regulator. If you are using it to connect to a beer or gas ball lock quick disconnect, then those disconnects have a bit of plastic built in, and you don't need to use the nylon flare washer.
Does this work with the stainless steel quick disconnect I just bought here at More Beer? Thx.
Chris Tessitore on Feb 2, 2022
BEST ANSWER: If you are referring to the Torpedo Ball Lock Quick Disconnect, or similar item, yes it works.
For the barb used in this set, does the recommended tubing size of 5/16" refer to the ID or OD of the tube? Which item# would you recommend for the tubing?
Dinakar Jayarajan on Dec 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It refers to a 5/16" inner diameter. There are a variety of options that will work all with their respective advantages. You can find them all on our website typing "5/16" into the search bar. The antimicrobial tubing is my favorite for a home kegerator.
Here comes a dumb one so brace yourself... can I (or should I) silver solder a stainless steel pipe onto this?
Eric Hartman on Apr 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Eric - I'm not sure what the exact application would be to solder a SS pipe onto the flare fitting. Would it be possible to explain a bit further?
Will your Flare Fitting - 1/4 in. Swivel Nut (Stainless Steel) work with the 5/16 barb this setup comes with?

BEST ANSWER: Hi Jason - Surprisingly, these will NOT fit together. KEG601 is designed for a 1/4" barb.

time and effort saver!
In the past I used the barbed gas/beverage ball lock connects for my kegs. I recently switched to threaded (flared). Using these (item # KEG640) as the female end on the gas tubing makes it so much faster and easier when filling a keg. I can hook the beverage ball lock connect to the gas tube to purge the keg so much easier now! I highly recommend!

No more cutting tubing
Like a poor man's quick disconnect. These works great when you want to unscrew your tube from a ball lock versus removing a clamp and cutting the tubing. Easy to install and clean, too. My whole system is using these now.
