MoreBeer! Stainless Conical 2.0
Since we released the first stainless conicals for homebrewers, we have seen a few come on the market that try to match the quality and functionality of ours, but fall short.
Below is a list of the reasons a stainless conical from MoreBeer! is the right choice when upgrading your home brewery.
The only 100% Welded, Pressurizable, Stainless Steel Conical Fermenter for Homebrewers!
MoreBeer! originally introduced the first commercially produced Stainless Steel Conical Fermenters to the homebrewing world in 2000. Over the years our conicals have been through various upgrades. Now 10 years later we are ready to Introduce Conical 2.0 with our brand new pressurizable lid, commercial quality racking port, tri-clamp top connections, standard butterfly valve dump, and low-profile stand (fits nicely inside of a refrigerator). We are also releasing a plethora of options that can be added at anytime, including clamp-on blow off tubes, thermowells, leg extensions, casters, quick-disconnect gas fittings, a yeast harvester and more.Welded Fittings - Always!
Small Package - Commercial Design
Conical 2.0 may be a little guy destined for your workshop or garage, but the design is based on commercial fermenters. We sell commercial fermenters through our MoreBeer! Pro division (to breweries like Bear Republic, EJ Phair, Santa Cruz Aleworks, etc.) We have taken 10 years experience building Home Brew Conicals and 4 years experience selling Commercial Conicals and married them into Conical 2.0. Tri-Clamp Fittings, Butterfly Valves, Rotating Racking Arms with Position Indicator, Domed Lids are all designs we took from the commercial brewing world.
Great Warranty - Great Value
We offer a 10 year warranty on the conical against defects in workmanship on the cone and stand, including the welds. We also offer a terrific value because we are the only company to build the conical in our own welding shop and then sell it directly to you. If something ever does go wrong or you have questions on use you will be talking directly with the people who built and use the conical. Our shop manager, Darren Schleth, owns and uses an Ultimate Conical, as do many of our other employees.
We have always welded the connections directly to the stainless cone just as is done with commercial fermenters. Some potential customers ask us how our conicals compare with other homebrew conicals that use weldless connections. We build MoreBeer! Conicals as small replicas of commercial fermenters. No commercial fermenter uses weldless fittings, nor will a commercial brewer allow weldless fittings on their fermenters. Of course it costs more to weld fittings onto our cones than to drill a hole and use a weldless fitting, but our philosophy has always been to offer a permanent, commercial-quality solution that is easy to sanitize and never has to be replaced. And since we manufacturer the conicals and then sell directly to the public you get a great value. As for quality, with commercial breweries including Rogue and Stone doing test batches, we have a history of making a conical that is very easy to clean and sanitize.
Brewery Quality Tri-Clamp Fittings Now STANDARD
Tri-Clamp fittings used to be an option on our Pro Version Conical 1.0 models - based on popular feedback they will now be standard issue. Every conical will feature the same high-quality, commercial-grade, tri-clamp fittings your favorite pro brewer uses on their fermenters. A tri-clamp fitting is preferred by commercial breweries because they are easy to remove and easy to clean. We also outfit all of our new conicals with a 1.5" full port commercial quality butterfly valve which clamps directly to the cone. We have learned over time that if you really want to dump Trub/yeast out the bottom and not have issues with clogging, you will need a fitting/opening this large.
New Domed Lid With 3" Tri-Clamp Opening
Our new domed lid features a large 3" tri-clamp fitting. This allows a large opening to pitch yeast, hops, oak, etc.. Included standard, at no extra cost, is an adapter that reduces from 3" tri-clamp to 1.5" tri Clamp fitting where you can fit the included stopper and airlock. We chose the tri-clamp connection for the top because it allows for all kinds of possibilities including blow off tubes, our clamp-on thermowells, pressure gauges, etc. This is a really flexible top configuration that we are extremely pleased with.
The MoreBeer! conical is capable of holding pressure up to 5 PSI, allowing you to push your fermented beer out into kegs regardless of where the fermenter is located. If you wish to push out using CO2 Gas you will need to purchase the CO2 Transfer Option.
The Power To Maintain Temperatures
MoreBeer! Conical Fermenters are the only ones on the market designed to have a self-cooling and heating option. No room for an extra refrigerator? We have the answer! Our cooling units are very powerful and can cool your beer down to 30 degrees below ambient on average - all without the need to make room for a separate temperature device! Not to mention they use less power to run than your kegerator!
The foam insulation we use is attached to the cone with sturdy nylon straps, which allows the foam to be removed during cleaning. This prevents any water from getting on the foam.
Brand New Sample Valve
The advantage of our new commercial sampling/side racking valve is clear when you compare it to a standard ball valve found on our older models and on the competition. A standard ball valve always has a pocket and thread that can get contaminated. The solution was to mimic a commercial tri-clamp sample valve where the threads never come in contact with the beer. We made our own valve specifically for this purpose, copying a commercial sample valve found on a pro brewery tank, but with enlarged ports so that you can quickly drain a full batch out of the same valve. This allows you to remove a sample of beer during the ferment and then later drain the entire conical through the same valve - with the reassurance you are not draining your beer through a previously contaminated ball valve. AND... While we were at it we added a position indicator and handle so you can see the direction that the pick-up tube is orientated inside the tank, eliminating the question "Am I going to suck up yeast?" when transferring to your keg.
New Racking Arm
Like many parts on the new Conical, we redesigned the Racking Port based on the designs we are used to selling in our commercial divisions. The arm sticking out the side of the rotating arm makes rotating easy and provides you with an indicator of how the Racking Arm pick-up tube is aligned inside the conical.
New Silicone Gasket and Stainless Lid Clamp
Our gasket is made from food-grade Silicone, the same material used on commercial fermenters. Strong, flexible, easy-to-clean and will stay in place on either the lid or the cone. We also made it in Red just as is found in many commercial tanks. Our clamp, also made from stainless steel, features a unique quick release feature that allows you to partially unscrew the handle and then release the entire clamp. No need to completely unthread the handle.
Cone Removes from Stand
While the Cone securely fits into the included stand, an empty cone is easily lifted out for cleaning or storage.
