Airlocks and Fermentation Blow Off Hoods perform two important tasks during fermentation:
- They allow the CO2 produced during fermentation to exit the fermenter, and not build-up potentially dangerous pressure in the vessel.
- They keep oxygen and microbes in the ambient air located outside the fermenter from coming into the fermenter and spoiling the beer.
